With 12 games to get 2 wins, I'd say that's a realistic goal. ;)

I've already tied the best W/L record in franchise history at 58-24. It'll be hard not to have a 60-win season because nobody taught Kevin Martin how to miss a shot.

Rockets drowned at home [59-13]

Postby Axel The Great on Sat Jul 17, 2010 2:53 am

2-game Recap

[58-12] Houston Rockets 100-89 Los Angeles Clippers [27-44]

Image
The bench provided the energy necessary to win the game.

NOTE: Chris Kaman was out with injury this game.

The Rockets had a close game against the Clippers. The first quarter was a bit of a struggle for the Rockets, getting outscored by the Clippers 27-22. However, the second quarter was the key to the Rockets game. David Andersen exploded for 8 points in the 2nd, finishing with a career high 15. David's 2nd quarter surge sparked some energy within the team, as the Clippers never had the lead again after the second. The Clippers battled and pounded, but they didn't prevail as the Rockets continue to be unstopable at home.

Kobe continued to be Kobe.

The Rockets received their third home loss of the season. The first quarter was a huge struggle for the Rockets, shooting 29% from the field. The second quarter wasn't any better. In the third quarter, the Lakers landed a 16 point lead, due to hot three point shooting from Derek Fisher and Ron Artest. However, the Rockets went on an 8-0 run, and the game was beginning to get exciting. Kevin Martin tied the game with 7 seconds left after a 3 point play. Ron Artest would score the game-winner, spinning and scoring a lay-up with 1.7 seconds left. Aaron Brooks was forced to run to halfcourt and settle for a deep trey, but just barely bounced off the rim, signaling a disappionting loss for the Rockets.

Shades of the real Artest in this year's Western Conference Finals. Just one shy of 60 now. :)

No, I'm probably not gonna lose on purpose, but with a tough schedule, I'm probably gonna lose 1-3 games more.

 He was a pain in the ass, but my defense gave him the easy lay-up. Hoping to up to 60 when I beat the Wizards. :cheeky:

Cold shooting lands loss against Spurs [60-14]

Postby Axel The Great on Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:30 am

2-game Recap

[59-13] Houston Rockets 101-91 Washington Wizards [29-43]

Image
Trevor Ariza's outside shot isn't perfect, but what is perfect is his ability to get to the basket.

Though the Rockets won this game, the Wizards proved that their victory against them last time wasn't a fluke. The Rockets set out to a 17-point lead in the 2nd quarter, but in the 3rd quarter the Wizards picked apart at this deficit and came within 6, but Kevin Martin once again helped the Rockets pull away as the Rockets continue their dominance at home.

Rockets had a bad game this game.

[60-13] Houston Rockets 84-91 San Antonio Spurs [47-26]

Image
By far Yao's best poster in his collection.

The Spurs entered this game on a 5-game winning streak. The Rockets saw why they are on a winning streak, as they had the lead for barely the first 3 minutes of the game. This game was a defensive shutdown for both teams, neither team getting out to double-digit leads throughout the entire game. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined for 54 points, and Richard Jefferson and Tim Duncan added more to the party. On the other side, Kevin Martin wasn't getting any help, except from Aaron Brooks who finished with 15. Yao is 7'6', but this game he appeared 5'5' as he finished with only 6 points and 3 rebounds, and showing no effort offensively. However he did have 3 blocks.

The Spurs closed out the 3rd quarter on a 10-0 run. Also during mid 4th quarter, they went on a defensive rampage, and the Rockets found themselves in a tight spot, going cold in shooting, and never regaining the lead after the 3rd quarter. "If this is a sign of how we're going to perform in the playoffs, we will see an upset in the first round," said head coach Rick Adelman in a post game interview. On the bright side, the Rockets still have a 60-win season for the first time in franchise history, and homecourt advantage in the playoffs is basically clinched.

Congrats on getting to 60 wins, tough loss to the Spurs but Yao's meager performance certainly would've made that a difficult game to win. At least you avoid 69 wins.

Looks like you'll probably be facing the Hornets, barring a meltdown. Martin's got the scoring title locked up, though I'm guessing Kobe will probably get the MVP trophy.

Martin only third in the MVP run? Oh well he got PotM :). I guess that 2.9 APG figure really is killing his chances but hes got his (first?) scoring title in the bag.

EDIT: just noticed- Thunder is LAST?! (N) :x

If Yao's not scoring or rebounding, it's like playing 4-on-5. I think the reason for his rebounding troubles is that the Spurs forced him out on the perimeter, and he's very uncomfortable doing that.

I hope they don't meltdown, if the Warriors catch up and I have to face them, Clutch will be disappointed. :shifty:

The scoring title is in the bag, all I need to do is get K-Mart to score 20+ points in the remaining games and he'll be fine. I'd like it better if LeBron won the MVP trophy though.

Yeah, K-Mart isn't really a pass-first guy like Brooks or Lowry, he's a scorer, so 2.9 APG is reasonable, but I'll try to get that avg up in the next games. And yes, this will be his first scoring title.

IDK how OKC is in last, with KD being in the top 5 in scoring, and Westbrook averages 8.8 APG. :?:

i wouldn't be disappointed but you might be; last time the Dubs made a run to secure an 8th spot they pulled off one of the greatest upsets in nba history :proud: besides, barring injuries to any of NOH's key players i doubt they'll be caught

The Hornets beat one time this season, so going up against them, I will have a tough time. The Warriors also beat me once, so either way, it'll be a tough road.

Scola is a perimeter big man, so dunks are something that's rare in his resume. Still, that's a nice dunk.

Comeback win in OT [62-15]

Postby Axel The Great on Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:55 am

3-game Recap

[60-14] Houston Rockets 100-89 Boston Celtics [43-31]

Image
The Rockets just can't stop Paul Pierce.

After a disappointing loss against the Spurs, the Rockets picked up a hard-fought W at the TD Garden. The game was tied at halftime, and the third quarter didn't see much scoring action, with both teams just playing defense. However, the 4th quarter proved to be the difference for the Rockets. They found a way how to penetrate through the Celtics' defense, which has a reputation of being unstopable (ie 2008) . In the end, the Rockets allowed Rajon Rondo to take threes, while playing great defense on Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. It worked wonders, as Rondo was given 3 open looks in a row, but couldn't hit any of them.

Yao bounced back with a 20-15 game, also going 12/12 from the charity stripe.

[61-14] Houston Rockets 109-100 Indiana Pacers [29-47]

Image
Kevin Martin pulled through in OT.

This game was of no importance to either team. The Rockets clinched homecourt throughout the playoffs, and the Pacers are eliminated, so no need to play this game. However, both of these teams made this game count. In the beginning, the Rockets seemed to have given in to the regular season, missing shot after shot, and the Pacers just looked dominant, they had a 5 point lead at halftime.

"Just because we have the highest place in the playoffs doesn't mean you can goof off this game, we need momentum and confidence going into the playoffs," were Rick Adelman's words at halftime. Rick's words didn't motivate anyone, as the Pacers set out to a 15 point lead in the 3rd, but the Rockets narrowed it down to 11 before the 4th. In the 4th, Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks saw their coach's grim face, and rallied and battled to try to take their first lead in the game. The Rockets went on an 8-0 run, only trailing by 3 with a few minutes left in the game. The game was tied at 93 with the Rockets getting the last possession of the game, and Kevin Martin was given another game-winning opportunity, but the ball barely bounced off the rim due to the Pacers' tough defense. Overtime came.

In OT, the Rockets set out what Coach Adelman said to do, win. They capitalised on the Pacers' downfall of bricked shots and closed the game out from the FT line, with TJ Ford and Roy Hibbert fouling out, earning another hard-fought win, and gaining momentum before the playoffs.

Here's a funny glitch I ran into when I was playing:
phpBB [video]

[62-14] Houston Rockets 90-96 Memphis Grizzlies [31-45]

Image
Yao had another dominating game, despite the loss.

The Grizzlies pulled off a surprising win, mainly due to the cause that if they lose one more game, they're out of the playoff race. Rudy Gay couldn't be stopped this game, and he finished with 34, with Marc Gasol swept the boards with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Zach Randolph helped with 17 points and 10 boards. On the Rockets side, Kevin Martin was quiet with 22 points, but had 8 assists. In the end, the Grizzlies were too much for the Rockets, as they take one game in the season series.

Yao needs some momentum going into the playoffs, especially since I'm facing a team in the first round that's beaten me before this season. :shifty: The reason for his strong performance is K-Mart and AB slowed the games down there, so a slow-paced game benefits him. :)

That was actually the first time I ran into that glitch, but I have run into that glitch that you mentioned many times too. Back to the drawing boards for Elite 11 right?

"Just because we have the highest place in the playoffs doesn't mean you can goof off this game, we need momentum and confidence going into the playoffs," were Rick Adelman's words at halftime.

yeah man, listen to coach! who do you guys think they are... LA? :P

you momentum is screwed atm... that game vs Indy was terrible, then spankage at the hands of the Grizz? :? Yao's the man, but he can't be expected to win it all by himself!
