Korver would certainly the address the need of a three point threat, as I said before he's a player I wouldn't mind seeing them bring in.

Are you serious?
Current Free Agent Shooting Guards:
Giant long list I won't quote in order to prevent unnecessary scrolling
On that list, RIGHT NOW, which players are better than J.J. Redick or Josh Childress?
No idea. Didn't even read the list. Doesn't make the claim that Dwyane Wade is a better shooter than JJ Redick any less ridiculous.
Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:21 pm
Pretty sure he meant shooting guard, as in the position...
Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:23 pm
Makes the claim more reasonable then. The original post didn't have the word 'guard', and everyone else seems to be talking about needing a three-point threat. Carry on.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:35 am
I'll still take Iverson as a legit starting 2 guard, and Korver coming off the bench for some 3 point bombs
Tony Allen, Raja Bell and Ronnie Brewer are all good options too

There you go:
The Bulls will sign Kyle Korver to a three-year, $15 million deal, according to sources.

Nice move! Pretty solid pick from the Bulls! If we can get T-Mac as well, i will be soo pleased! Korver is a great shooter and a big threat and T-mac can help with his experience and talent if he's healthy. Otherwise J.j. will be a good sign too.

Solid pick-up. He's no Redick, and I doubt he'll come close to shooting 53.6% from three again, but he's a solid three-point shooting SG at a very reasonable price. Pick up Childress and you're in the second round for sure.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:22 am
If Reddick gets into rythm he can score as hell! Also the same goes with Korver not that great but he's a great thread on his day. And Booz recommended him as well.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:38 am
Good signing,, good price. Still a decent amount of cap room to round out the roster too.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:42 am
Welcome aboard Korver.
Now we just need Anthony Morrow and we'll have such a strong team.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:44 am
i saw a rumor about Shaun Livingston being a target
Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:52 am
happy with Korver. a legit 3pt bomber. not some one year wonder...
Bulls still have around $10mil to play around with. 8 players so far on the roster. they still need a big man off the bench and a SG who can defend. i had read the bulls are trying to get Omer Asik from overseas but i think Brad Miller is a better reserve. i think the Bulls spent several 2nd round picks to land Asik. he's a wildcard and prolly would take some time to adjust to the NBA. also a backup PG would be nice.
i'd be happy with R Brewer, Matt Barnes, or i suppose Childress
it was a disappointment of course to not land L James. I'll actually give some credit to Bulls front office. i think it was a gutsy move for Paxson to trade his golden boy, Kirk hinrich, for cap space. management put the team in a good position to land potentially one of the big dogs (maybe even 2). they didn't panic when it didn't happen and got Boozer on a good deal.
my guess is this puts the Bulls at 45-50wins... 2nd tier of the EAST... behind Orlando/Boston/Miami.. same class as Milwaukee & Atlanta. sort of basketball hell/or even the Jazz of the EAST.
i think in hindsight now...
Ben Gordon, Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, Salmons
for
Boozer, Korver, and still $10mil to spend on trades/FA
let the critics praise or criticize

the guy is 6'9 260lbs! what is your definition of a big PF then

Oops.Shouda have said not lengthy(comparably to gasol, bosh or such).

they already have NoAH

Backup C and PG is handled already if we do what is best and just resign Acie Law and Brad Miller.
Get Morrow and Brewer
Rose/Law
Morrow/Brewer
Deng/Korver/Johnson
Boozer/Gibson
Noah/Miller/Asik
Do I hear 55 wins? Maybe, just maybe.

Morrow would be good, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors match. If there's mutual interest, by all means break out the offer sheet and give it a shot. The offseason is young.

Agreed, I know I've thrown my share of pessimistic remarks about PaxMan out there in the last year or so but they've done a good job here. They set their sights high, unfortunately it didn't pan out but they've still made a couple of good moves so far and still have cap room to work with. A huge turnaround from the blunders of the past.

Again, I have to eat my words/tip my hat here, because they did come through and the gambles paid off. I'm still a little disappointed they lost Gordon because they made the mistake of grossly overpaying Deng, but I like the position they're in right now, a position they might not be in had they overpaid to keep Gordon (though if he signed for what the Pistons gave him, I believe they'd still have been able to get Boozer with around $5 mil left over if they didn't then sign Korver). In any case, it was not the disaster I feared it could be. They stepped up, credit must be given where it's due.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 10:03 am
i agree w/your agreement haha. been a while
yep- Gordon would be awesome to have with this current roster.
i guess you can start him but i think ideally Korver is a 6th man. i don't think you could have pried away Morrow or Reddick at 3yrs/5mil.
awesome shooter and even if he "tries", he's bad at defense. maybe when you play teams against teams who's best perimeter player Deng can guard and then hide Korver on the other guy, you start him.
the LIvingston rumor.. i'd be cool with getting him as well. Acie Law. meh. as long as it doesn't cost more then $2mil i'll take Livingston over him
i still think ManSon (

) is still trying to trade deng's contract

Absolutely, the nature of the beast is that someone was always going to miss out on these guys. It's your Plan B that defines the kind of organisation that you are.
This Off-Season, the Bulls managed to replace Vinny Del Negro with Tom Thibodeau, and bring in a couple of parts that have been missing for a few years: a post presence and a three-point gunner. And they're not done yet. For a team that ended up with no draft picks, that's a good off-season.
You look at the Clippers, their big signings have been Randy Foye and Ryan Gomes, and they brought in Vinny Del Negro to coach.
The Nets have signed Trout and are looking at Tyrus Thomas as their next target.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:15 am
I thought Thomas had agreed to re-sign with the Bobcats?
Dan's Brain wrote:It's your Plan B that defines the kind of organisation that you are.
Well put.

Which certainly does bring to mind the Clippers' moves. Some Plan B.

Ahh, has he? It's been a while since I've given a crap about what Tyrus Thomas does.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:21 am
Apparently
they have. 5 years, $40 million. Not terrible I guess, but I'll take Boozer and Gibson.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:22 am
$12 million in the first season.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 11:34 am
Nice to see Korver landing with the Bulls.

I hope he gets some decent minutes at the 2 and 3.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:13 pm
They're also bringing Omer Asik over.
Sat Jul 10, 2010 2:03 pm
And now:
Orlando's J.J. Redick close to signing three-year, nearly $19 million offer sheet with Chicago
