Heartbreaking defensive lapse, but some good performances by your starting five.

Valor - K-Mart's nice but just not working out in the bigger picture; we'll have to see how it plays out;

Hype - yeah 1 pt losses sting! Azubuike is awesome! a jack-of-all-trades really; he's kind of turning into a modern-day Mitch Richmond for me;

Ax - yah Bell really screwed us with that double-team, picked Azbuike clean :evil: Carl Landry? Thierry beat me to it but yeah, he's playing with LeBron sharing minutes with Antawn Jamison and a J.J. Hickson in CLE;

Thierry - thx for the assist m8 ;)

megarover, z02 - VC? we're working on it :)

Andrew - don't leave Biedrins out of the praise! he's actually doing a solid job coming off the bench so i'm stoked

anyway, thx for the feedback guys - trade news nxt!

K-Mart Gone, Start The Vinsanity

Nov 22, 2011 Oakland, CA (AP) - The Golden State Warriors finalized a trade deal today sending 7-year pro sharp-shooter Kevin Martin and 6-year pro forward Ronnie Turiaf to last season's Eastern Conference Finals champion Orlando Magic, in exchange for 8-time NBA All-Star Vince Carter plus Orlando's 2012 2nd-round future draft pick.

Carter was originally drafted by Golden State in 1998 with the 5th-overall pick but immediately traded to the Toronto Raptors for Carter's North Carolina teammate and 4th-overall pick, Antawn Jamison.

A 13-year pro, Carter played for the Raptors from 1998-2004, for the New Jersey Nets from 2004-2009, then for the Orlando Magic since 2009 and has had numerous accolades during his career including the 1999 Rookie of the Year, 2000 Slam Dunk Champion award and 8 All-Star appearances.

Image

Last season, however, a decline in career averages plus a sub-par performance in the 2011 NBA Finals versus the eventual champion Dallas Mavericks prompted Orlando to seek a trade for the Warriors' younger marksman, Kevin Martin.

While Carter can still be considered among the top-10 swingmen of the league, it's certain age played a factor in Orlando's decision to move him; his expiring contract also played at least a small part in Golden State's decision to part ways with Martin. With Carter's 16.3M contract coming off the books at season's end, the Warriors immediately gain leverage to re-sign budding superstar, Anthony Randolph while staying in the hunt to land All-Star Carmelo Anthony next off-season, should he test free agency.

Now age 34, Carter has gone from playing in game 7 of the NBA Finals, to being the oldest player of a Warriors franchise with young, upcoming talent, a new head coach, but no post-season appearance since 2007. How the seasoned veteran will respond to these new circumstances this late in his career remains to be seen; what's certain is that, whether Carter remains with the team next year and his young teammates flourish or flounder this season, largely rests upon his experienced shoulders.

Image

Another less 'blockbuster' trade also went down today involving the Oklahoma City Thunder, who acquired 4-year pro center Josh Boone, in exchange for 2nd-year pro forward D.J. White. Boone should instantly take the starting center position over Chuck Hayes for the Thunder while White serves as injury insurance behind Jianlian Yi and Anderson Varejao for the Nets.

All players involved in today's trades will be available to play by tomorrow night.

Nice write-up, I'd forgotten that Golden State originally drafted Carter. Hope it works out for you. :)

Off-Season Moves
Image

Current Record: 8-5

Breakdown

    In many respects the New Jersey Nets are the 'Warriors' of the East featuring a star point guard in Devin Harris leading a supporting cast of budding young talent.

    Like Golden State, the Nets used the off-season to improve, first securing versatile power foward Jianlian Li (as the Warriors hope to do the same with Anthony Randolph next off-season) then fortifying their frontline with Bobby Simmons, Hilton Armstong and Andersen Varejao in trade for David Lee from Cleveland. The latter decision is the Nets biggest question mark as they are banking on Brook Lopez's increased minutes to hasten his development with Lee out of the picture; though moving Lee's bigger contract (Lee 9.32M vs. Varejao 7.7M, both with 4 yrs remaining) likely had something to do with it.

    Where the team's differ is at the shooting guard where rising star Terrence Williams will face seasoned-veteran Vince Carter, the Warriors recent trade acquisition from Orlando.

Varejao for Lee...interesting move there by the Nets. Looks like Yi has developed into a solid player for them though.

It's good to see the Nets make developing Lopez one of their top priorities. It should be a nice matchup between him and Noah. Good luck. (Y)

Carter snaring the one-handed rebound over three Nets players | Curry v. Harris was worth the price of admission

Williams coughs up the turnover due to Carter's physical play | The rest of the Warriors take note and soon follow suit

No one expected Vinsanity to throw down this electrifying, one-handed baseline smash which effectively broke the Nets' spirits

Soon all the Nets were demoralized and hanging their heads due to Carter's incessant trash talking

Nice game and good win against the nets, it seems like the backcourt combination of Curry and Carter is working well for you. Plus you got some nice bench points by Von Wafer who added 14, very nice.

CLE wins - Wafer usually comes in at point when Curry takes a breather and so far he's done a fair job surprisingly;

Andrew/Ax/Thierry - thx guys; i'm pretty stoked by Vince (despite how tough it was departing with K-Mart); being a lifer Warriors fan, the '98-99 season was always one of those crushing, "should've, would've, could've" been seasons and even though he's no longer in his prime, I needed to bring Vinsanity to the bay area; in the past he's been arrogant and criticized for half-assing it (espec. in Toronto), not to mention injury-prone; but now that age is taking its toll, Carter's changed his attitude, his training regimen and priorities - now it's all about the ring!

Great win in VC's debut.

Though it's weird that a team with Curry, Mason, Wafer, Morrow, Azubuike and now Carter attempting only 13 threes. :D

TEAM PREVIEW
Image

2011 Off-Season Moves
Image

Current Record: 8-5

Breakdown
If history repeats itself, Gregg Popovich will capture Coach of the Year and San Antonio will own the best record in the NBA leading into the playoffs, as things have played out the previous two seasons; but what the Spurs look to avoid are the gut-wrenching eliminations: first to the Lakers in the '09-10 Western Conference Finals; then to the eventual champion Dallas Mavericks last year in the '10-11 Semi-Finals round.

The Spurs made some bold commitments during the off-season, making a clear statement that they believe in Tony Parker, re-signing him to a whopping 6-year, 104M contract; they also re-signed Richard Jefferson to a 3-year deal and picked up Keith Bogans for a season from free agency. But after picking up a pair of work-in-progress bench-warming rookies, what direction is San Antonio truly heading?

The answer lies on the shoulders of Manu Ginobili and stoic Tim Duncan.

Image

Now in their mid-30's, both Duncan and Ginobili are fulfilling the final year of expiring contracts. With potentially 34.3M in salary cap space being freed, it's clear this is a make-or-break season for San Antonio; but without making any radical changes to their lineup, do the Spurs realistically have what it takes to claim the title and will Duncan remain a Spur, retire or opt for free agency after the season?

In an interview this October, Duncan may have hinted at his future plans when he quoted Albert Einstein's definition of insanity regarding the Spurs front office as, "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Now, with San Antonio's long-term commitment to Parker the urgency to win is paramount - if Duncan's not holding a championship trophy at the end of the year, it's highly likely the Spurs will have some huge shoes to fill.

Out East: 2-Team, 4-Player Trade

Nov 24, 2011 Chicago, IL (AP) - The Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers announced a 4-player trade today which sent 8-year pro guard Kirk Hinrich and 7-year pro guard Jannero Pargo to Cleveland in exchange for 13-year pro forward Antawn Jamison and 17th-overall pick, rookie forward Sigmund Shaw out of Maryland.

Image
Jamison and Hinrich on the move

The trade deal shifts Jamison to the starting power forward position for Chicago, taking pressure off of Hakim Warrick who struggled with the role, and gives the Bulls an out-spoken floor leader to anchor their depleted front court, as well as a budding, defensive-minded rookie in Sigmund Shaw.

Cleveland benefits by clearing way for Carl Landry at power forward and gaining a much needed passing and scoring perimeter threat in Kirk Hinrich to compliment the King. Pargo will complement Sebastian Telfair in a quick off-the-bench attack and brings the Cavs much needed backcourt relief in the wake of Daniel Gibson's 4-week recovery prognosis from a bone spur ankle injury.

"Antawn's a great guy and he'll be missed," said LeBron upon hearing about the transaction. "But Hinrich should open the floor for us with his terrific shooting and passing ability, so I'm excited about the trade."

Both teams felt secure with the trade in the fact that both Hinrich and Jamison are finishing out the final year of expiring contracts.

___

Hype - lol no, not as bad as your drubbing by Yi, but a double-double plus 2 stls, 3 blks is still pretty embarrassing :oops:
Martti - hmmm... that's a good point and something to look (dbf editwise) into maybe - anyhoo, thx for the feedback guys
