Lakers ran their offense and won. Celtics missed some eassssyyyy layups and didn't have anything off their bench, while the Lakers had both production (Sharapova, Farmar, Odom) and energy (Brown).
JVG was talking about the Celtics using Tony Allen as their back-up PG in game seven... if they do that and the Lakers don't full-court press Tony Allen every single time I'll be greatly disappointed in Phillip.

What a game by the Lakers, sure the refs have some unfair calls but the way the Lakers play defense and their hustle on the ball was just awesome.
I hope they play dirty in the game and provoke Sheed to get a technical. Maybe Perkins is the MVP for the Celtics
Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:51 pm
Certainly sounds like Perkins will be out for Game 7. Wojnarowski is reporting a sprained MCL and PCL.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:54 pm
My Lakers in 7 prediction seems to be looking very promising, but I'm still disappointed.
When a series goes to 7 games, you expect a far better spectacle than the finals have been. I'm looking forward to Friday week (Australian time) and the draft much more than I'm looking forward to this coming Friday (also Australian time).
Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:58 pm
the finals have been good, aside from the refs these finals have been exciting. better team won tonight
Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:20 pm
The Celtics obviously blew this game up, they seem to be not in their game. Lakers were better at both ends.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:35 pm

Kobe Bryant putting the fire in the belly of his team through his incomparable leadership. Along with keying, organizing and planning a defense that shut out the Celtics more than any team has ever been shutout in NBA Finals history. The G.O.A.T.

Start building the wing of the Hall of Fame for him. Make sure to make room for his record number of rings and screens for viewing all of his amazing Finals dominations that shame all pretenders to the throne.

Shut it down, the Celtic thugs eliminated and the dreams of the media crushed by underdog Kobe Bryant yet again.

Always Bet On Kobe.
EDIT:
Wed Jun 16, 2010 5:26 pm
Boo, now the Lakers will be the NBA champions in a dramatic game 7 at home with Kobe Bryant taking home the Finals MVP trophy! Boo!
Wed Jun 16, 2010 5:33 pm
I should have placed my bets on Kobe. Los Angeles Kobes.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 6:04 pm
You (or someone else) should display your (or their) photo manipulation skills by fixing the background behind the "ALWAYS BET ON KOBE" (or better editing the DUKE into KOBE) and giving him Duke-like sunglasses. My five minutes of patience (
skills) ended with the making the image taller and affixing the text.
Really, a better replication of the original
Duke poster would be one of the greatest things ever. Although the mind-blowingly brilliant (
horrifically terrible) job I did has a certain charm to it. As a reward for anyone who manages to create such a thing, it will be my avatar for some period of time. (Especially for an extended period of time if the Lakers win the title.)
Maybe I should make a thread in that weird section in the bowels of the forum I never go to for this.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 7:57 pm
benji, I'm not quite sure what you want done regarding the poster, and I'm not sure if what I did is what you wanted, but I gave it a quick try.

Without sunglasses.

With sunglasses.

So... what do you think?

Amen to that. Always good to drink & listen to Jay Bilas rave about young men's wingspan

The only thing to criticize is that maybe the background should be changed to better represent the NBA. Although that might be going too far or too much effort.
Or maybe if there's an image of Kobe smirking like Duke.
But if I don't see anything better, I'll be wearing the one I quoted.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 8:37 pm
If you or someone else could find me an image of Kobe smirking like Duke and/or a background that represent the NBA and has the same theme/style as the old Duke background, then maybe I could try and fit them in together.

It's great that the Finals go to 7 games again, but I fear the Lakers would win now. It would be easier for the league to choose the Finals MVP. With LA, it's Kobe. With Boston, ESPN guys picked Rondo, Allen, KG and Pierce all capable of winning it now.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 8:52 pm
Now Celtics fans can say..."If Perkins was healthy.."
Good game LA, wrap it up by winning it all come Thursday.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:17 pm
Oh yeah, one man down for the Celtics? How would Big Baby do a move off-the-dribble like Perkins does it?

ZanShadow wrote:Excuses... Bynum or not, Artest or not, there's no reason for the Lakers to be failing if Kobe was truly the best player in the NBA with all those talents surrounding him.
Surely 'with all those talents surrounding him' is invalidated by their lack of good play?
you'll see how amazingly they play a blame game to protect Kobe's ass
What, 19-point quarters aren't good enough for you? Kobe was the only one that showed up in game five, period. Why is it his fault his teammates fucked off?
while also the media would focuses majorly on Bryant when wins rather than how great Lakers as a team is.
This I'll agree with. Anyone else get the urge to throw something at Van Gundy during the pre-game? 'Kobe Bryant is unquestionably the MVP through five games, the only word to describe him is "greatness", he's the greatest player ever...' Shut the fuck up. Every game, after the "Welcome to the NBA Finals" clip, there's five minutes of Kobe Bryant dick-sucking.
For once, Kobe needs to shut the fuck up and leads his team on his own to victory if he wants to be up there with MJ or other greats.
How is any of game five Kobe's fault?
FFS, he arguably has a great teammate at every single position
Except small forward, center, and point guard. Also, the entire bench. Not that any of that matters if none of them play up to their standard anyway, which isn't Kobe's fault.
and it's only his fault if he can't make them better or come up with a way to win with those talents surrounding him.
Did you watch the game? Specifically, the third quarter? What more is he supposed to do?
Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:54 pm
??
Anyways, Boston still has 3 big men even without Perkins. I'm more worried about Boston's focus level. Game 6 was just shit, even though the referees were going to give the game to the Lakers from the beginning.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:04 pm
i have said all along this is going 7, stern needs to make up some money from all the shorter series early in the playoffs lol
Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:26 pm
time for daniels to step up.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:30 pm
...and the screwed up scheduling of the Finals that lasted until the 3rd week of June, which made it compete against the World Cup. NBA got to get back the dough.
I stopped watching the game and left the house when the Celtics were content just shooting jump shots when they were down big. Maybe it was because they were shite tired of missing those layups or they were afraid to drive to the lane. Meh.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:43 pm
Well if you think about it shadow, the World Cup games are at different times than the Finals games, so to me it's a win-win situation.
As for Game 7, Ray Allen will explode from three again (him missing 18 3's has to foreshadow something doesn't it?), and the Celtics win the championship leaving Kobe to throw a temper tantrum.

Whiney little bitch.
