Ax, CLE wins - we'll see guys ;) an All-star game would be great but doubtful since there's no real Uber-Star on my team; i'd be more happy w/a post-season appearance for now;

Thx for the comments all; Noah & Curry do show signs of a great chemistry at times but i'd still rather have an even spread 'team' attack (ala Championship Pistons) vs a Dynamic Duo + scrubs team (ala Shaq + Kobe)

Breakdown

The Utah Jazz didn't do much to improve their team during the off-season save re-sign starters Mehmet Okur and Andre Kirilenko as well as reserve point guard, Ronnie Price.

They drafted a couple of work-in-progress projects in power forward Adelaja Edgar and guard Viktor Kamenski and are flirting with yet another year being a middle of the pack team. Though rumor has it Edgar was drafted as a precautionary measure, since the Millsap/Boozer honeymoon is over and that Millsap now wants out of Utah and Boozer's shadow in order to start on a different team.

Whether he gets his wish remains to be seen.

Well, sorry I brought that up. Tough loss in OT against the Jazz. Damn, 5 TO's by Curry? Well he made up for it with his 29 points. :D
I have one question though, do you ever quote to reply to people? Just curious.

Stupid Ketchup starting, Korver should be there. He killed you in his 15 minutes.

Weird that the last play was an alley-oop, usually it's the pg dribbling til 5 seconds left, then passes it to the worst shooter on their team and he shoots and misses. :P Sucks that didn't happen to you.

Agreed with this one, sometimes the pg will shoot the last shot or pass it to the center for a jumper. An alley-oop in the last play never happens to me.

Trade Winds

"Move K-Mart? Are you guys crazy!?" said Warriors Head Coach Avery Johnson in a perplexed, high-pitched squeal as he started to rise quickly out of his chair.

Motioning him to sit down General Manager Larry Riley said calmly, "Just hear us out A.J."

Us meaning he and Warriors Owner, Chris Cohan, the only other person in the private yet plush meeting room at Warriors HQ in downtown Oakland.

Silver-haired Cohan sat at the head of the black rectangular table, elbows pressed to its marble finish and fingertips together, lightly touching his lips as if in mock prayer. Johnson shot a quick glare at Cohan who returned a half smile and lifeless gaze from doll-like, blue-green eyes, then Avery looked back in Riley's direction.

"Short version… the Orlando Magic front office have been in touch; they're interested in Martin and they're offering Vince Carter in exchange," said Riley.

"Carter!? He's damaged goods! Isn't he like, what… 34 now? Kevin's 6 years younger and just now coming into his prime. Why are we even considering this?" refuted Johnson.

Image

Cohan said nothing turned his attention toward his general manager, curious to hear Riley's response.

"A.J., you're not seeing the bigger picture here," said Riley.

"Well, please…" Johnson said as he sat down clasping both hands in front of him. "Enlighten me."

"Historically this organization has made some… questionable decisions regarding player movement. As a result a lot of talent has escaped us in the past; we don't want this to continue."

Johnson listened attentively as Riley continued, "Next season, Anthony Randolph becomes a free agent and currently, we're not in financial position to re-sign him. We NEED to re-sign him. He's only 22, extremely talented with tremendous upside. The skies the limit for that kid so securing him is our TOP priority."

Image

Johnson nodded, "Agreed, it'd be a shame to lose him. From what I can tell, he really likes it here."

"That's good to hear. Now, in the same light," Riley continued, "a number of potential free agents may be available next year - Vince Carter being one of them, as his contract with Orlando expires after this season. But the biggest consideration is the very real possibility of Carmelo Anthony testing free agency. Imagine this lineup - Steph, Buike, Melo, Randolph, Noah… now that's going places, right?"

Image

Enticing as it sounded, Johnson remained skeptical. "Look, we've seen this scenario unravel before, just last season in fact. LeBron, Amar'e, Bosh… all these big cats who were supposed to test the market but didn't. Who's to say 'Melo doesn't just stay put in Denver?"

"Well, no one… but is that a gamble worth missing out on?" said Cohan finally speaking.

Avery said nothing at first, then he replied, "Shouldn't we try shopping Biedrins instead? We've a surplus of bigs if anything."

"We tried that counter already. Orlando's not interested," said Cohan. "We could easily shop Andris to a different team that desperately needs a center, say… the Thunder for example, but we'd still be handcuffed by Martin's 12M contract. He's our highest paid player and on our tab for another 2 seasons."

"That's a good thing, isn't it?" Johnson said sharply. "I thought the goal was to get better, not older."

Ignoring Johnson's comment Cohan continued, "By moving Martin and picking up Carter's expiring contract, we're both in position to secure Randolph and possibly 'Melo, should he test the free agent waters; even if he doesn't? We've opened a lot of cap room to play with and can strike a deal elsewhere once we ditch Carter."

Johnson looked puzzled, thinking a moment about last season. Then he asked, "Orlando made it to the finals last season. They pushed Dallas to Game 7. They were one game away from a championship title - ONE GAME - but Dirk and the Mavericks thwarted that… why would they want to break that up now?"

Cohan shrugged and sat back, "Who knows? The fact that they did fall just short may be the only reason, or it could be because of their uneventful off-season, poor draftees or early struggles this season. Carter's not getting any younger either, which doesn't help their cause any. All we know is that they're looking for that 'something' to get them over the hump and they feel K-Mart may be it."

"Look at the numbers Avery," Riley said while handing Johnson some printed charts.

Image

"It's not like we'd be losing much. Carter may be older, but he can still play ball. He and K-Mart's stats are very comparable and in fact, Carter's a better distributor than Martin as well as rebounder."

"Different style of players," said Johnson. "Carter could disrupt what little chemistry our team has already begun to develop, plus he's injury prone and…"

Cohan rudely interrupted, "Look… it's simple. Curry, Randolph & Noah are the future of this team. Period. Carter may be in the twilight of his career but he still has what it takes to get the job done. He brings experience, and more importantly - entertainment!"

Johnson furled an eyebrow.

"Kids still love Vince. Marketing will splash his face over every piece of Warrior media available. We'll hand out bobbleheads and he'll help sell tickets and jerseys for a year, and when there's nothing left in his tank? He's gone. Then we wait on 'Melo and if he comes out, and we snag him? Just imagine… Either way, I win! err… umm, I mean… we win," said Cohan with a smirk.

Annoyed with Cohan, Riley intervened, "Avery, think of it this way… who potentially takes this team to the promise land - Martin or 'Melo? What if Martin's already hit his ceiling?"

"And what if he hasn't?" Johnson cut in.

"Well, it's the chance we take. Martin's been with us coming up on two seasons now and frankly? I just don't see it. I mean, Azubuike's shown more initiative and growth than Martin during that time. Right now, Noah's showing tremendous upside, and we can't afford to be in a position where we could potentially lose Randolph. We know waiting on 'Melo is a gamble, but it's one we need to be prepared to compete for, should that option present itself. We might not get a better opportunity than this one Orlando presents."

Riley had a point. Avery scratched his chin while looking Riley in the eyes then fixed his gaze on Cohan. After a pause he said, "I'd like think about this before we make any major decisions."

Riley lightly bit his lower lip and turned his attention to Cohan who's mouth slowly formed in a sinister grin.

"Nothing to think about A.J.," said Cohan confidently as he folded his glasses and placed them into his inner coat pocket then collected his papers into a neat stack. "We've already counter-offered with Orlando and are just waiting to hear if our proposal is approved. In the meantime, remove Martin from the active roster effective immediately."

With that Cohan and stood up from his seat and exited the room, patting Johnson on the shoulder as he walked by.

VCee! VCeeeeeeee!!

I'd do this deal. Martin probably won't reach the level Carter is on this season. (In Live)
I think Carter would help you more then Martin, who struggled in some games. I doubt you can land Melo though, but maybe you can pick up Mayo or smtg. (Beast in the game)

Just hope that you'll consider resigning VC instead of dumping him, pairing him with Melo would be awesome

Damn that Raja Bell! :shake: You had that game in your hands! Sign VC, and depending on whether or not he performs well for the season, re-sign him in the off-season.

BTW, do you have any idea where Carl Landry is in your dynasty? I see he's not on the Kings' roster.
