Really, I've never played organized basketball, but I'd imagine it's hard to make long passes with a backboard in you way. :)

I'm doing things a different way now, I'm doing monthly reports and 10-game summaries, but the 10-game summaries will just be a review of every player on my roster and some of their stats. Quick comment though, Andrew: I think you're the only one viewing my dynasty.

Warriors too much for the Rockets [17-2]

[17-1] Houston Rockets 91-105 Golden State Warriors [8-10]

Image
AB is starting to show some consistency, like back in the first three games of the season.

The Rockets crash landed in Oakland. They never had the lead, they couldn't make shots, and the bench was just AWFUL! The first quarter was close, but the 2nd quarter was what set the tone. The Rockets just couldn't get any shots to fall. So what did they do? They went to Yao and K-Mart for FT's. Together they attempted 17 out of the 21 team FT's in the game. Stephen Curry proved to be too much, even the double-team didn't work on him. Monta Ellis would've been a pain as well, but K-Mart got him into foul trouble. In a post game interview Yao said: "It's time to put that game aside, my team had a bad night, and now we look forward to going to Portland and turn our luck around." The media couldn't get a talk with Rick Adelman or K-Mart. The Rockets are still a team to beat in the West, despite getting beat in combat by the Warriors.

It's certainly a bit risky, even discounting the possibility of accidentally hitting the backboard. Effective with a bit of practice though, it's all about being aware of where you're standing and keeping control of the pass rather than just making a wild fling.

Tough loss, it's funny how the easy teams can steal games from you here and there. Just like in real life, I guess.

Well, the Warriors are no easy team for me. If you recall, the last game I had against them was tough too, but I managed to steal the W.

Red Nation News Article
A Rocket Again?

The Rockets have made their first move this season. In a somewhat "What was the point of this" trade, the Rockets send Alexander Johnson and Mike Harris to Sacramento in exchange for Donte Greene. Rockets GM Daryl Morey was interviewed on the trade and said, "I was just looking to clear some roster space, and some cap space, and as many of you know, Donte Greene has been with the Rockets prior to this trade, but hasn't played a game as a Rocket." Donte Greene was also interviewed by the media and he said,"Maybe this is a chance for me to brighten my career. I just talked to coach Adelman and he promised me some decent minutes, more than I got with Sacramento." Though this trade didn't involve the movement of superstars, it does provide some added talent on the bench, and also clears roster space for the up-coming off-season. We hope Donte Greene can deliver for the Rockets as he did with his D-League team, the Reno Bighorns.

nice to clear up the bench dead-weight a bit by adding Greene; also, you have readers, just haven't taken the time to comment regularly is all - keep it up man (btw, if YAO doesn't have his first ring by the end of this, you may lose a reader... j/k  )

Nice deal, Greene is awesome.

Title should be 'a Rocket again' though. :D

Finally man. It's about time you lost another game... I mean tough loss dude. It just gets boring following a dynasty when the user wins practically every game, so a few losses are a good thing.

Well, I guess I forgot many people can read, they don't have to comment. I will continue this dynasty until Yao gets a ring. :D

Yeah, I kind of get bored of winning too, so I tuned down my sliders against Golden State and look at the results.

I hope so, I wouldn't be too sure though, I need to get Aaron Brooks producing again.

Rockets blaze once again in Portland [18-2]

[17-2] Houston Rockets 90-82 Portland TrailBlazers [6-14]

Image
Donte Greene's first points as a Rocket.

The Rockets headed to Portland for the last time this season, and lifted off from an embarrassing loss against Golden State. The 1st quarter was atrocious for the Blazers, allowing 34 points and only scoring 17. The crowd whom was watching in Portland would tell you that this was the most sloppy game you'll see this season. The 2nd and 3rd quarter both teams would explode in scoring, and then go on two minute scoring droughts. But I'll tell you who didn't have a sloppy game, Yao Ming. He had a near triple-double, 12 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 assists. Marcus Camby shamefully couldn't get a double-double despite having 21 rebounds. The Rockets now head back home to face the beast of the east, LeBron James and the Cavs.

10-game summary

The Rockets went a good 8-2 in the 2nd 10 games of the season. Remaining undefeated at home, they look to be going in the right direction for a championship after waiting 15 years. Here is a review of each player on the team-

The Starters

Yao Ming- He has been a monster all season. Leading the league in RPG, and third in PPG on the Rockets, and second behind K-Mart in FT's on the Rockets, Yao's desire for a ring is starting to show. Though only having one year on his contract, if he can get the Rockets franchise far in the playoffs, an extension could be given to him.
axelgomez13 rating- 10

Luis Scola- He hasn't had a huge impact on the team, mainly due to Yao using more possessions, when he gets it going, he can get deadly. He has also improved his defense this season, averaging a block a game. Though for this 10 game stretch he was cold, the Rockets hope that he will continue to improve and hopefully be more productive on offense as well as defense.
axelgomez13 rating- 7.5

Trevor Ariza- He, like Scola, has gone cold the last few games. Though he has gotten to the line, his outside shooting needs improvement. He has shown untouchable 3pt range, but if you ask him to take mid-range shots, he'll hesitate and miss. Maybe since this is just his 1st of 5 years on his contract, he doesn't feel like he has to produce.
axelgomez13 rating- 7

Kevin Martin- He is like the engine of the Rockets (along with Yao Ming). If the Rockets aren't having a good shooting night, he'll step into the paint to shoot some FT's, shooting at over 90% for the season. He has also made the most 3 pointers on the team. If he keeps up his performances, he could really be on his way to winning a ring.
axelgomez13 rating- 10

Aaron Brooks- He has had no consistency this season in scoring, but still averages 15 ppg. His role on the team isn't to score though, it is to distribute the ball, and that's where he has consistency, averaging 8 apg. As long as he can score and distribute the ball, he is well on his way to more years on the Rockets roster.
axelgomez13 rating- 8

The Bench

Shane Battier- At times, he can explode on the offensive end. But his main role on the team isn't to score, it is to provide defense off the bench. He does his job well, blocking the lights out of players like Kobe and LeBron. Though maybe the Rockets would have been better off keeping Rudy Gay than trading him for Battier, he still plays a huge role on the team.
axelgomez13 rating- 8.5

Chase Budinger- Topping his career high 3 times this season, you can say he is well on his way to the rookie challenge. Though he has calmed down a bit, he did take a chunk of K-Mart's minutes for a few games. If he can give some more 15+ plus point games, he is well on his way of earning a big role on the Rockets.
axelgomez13 rating- 8.5

Jared Jeffries- You want to see defense, Jared will slam it in your face. He has no regards for human life on the defensive end, and can also score if you give him the ball. He has impressed more than he did than his days with the Knicks, and if he keeps this up, he can be given a promotion to the starters.
axelgomez13 rating- 9

Jordan Hill- With more defense than offense, this guy has the right tools to succeed in the NBA. At 6'10', and a Jared Jeffries like defense style, he is a force to be reckoned with in the paint. He has also proved to play well with Bud, as they were both teammates in Arizona back in the NCAA.
axelgomez13 rating- 8

Kyle Lowry- Having the highest 3pt% on the team (shooting at over 50%), he isn't averaging over 10ppg. However, he really doesn't like to take shots, he just likes to be the one who gets credited with the pass. The coaching staff will have to convince him to score, if not, the Rockets will need to find a better point guard to replace him.
axelgomez13 rating- 7

Chuck Hayes- Being an undersized C, that doesn't stop him from rubbing his defense all over your face. He loves scoring on the low post and that seems to be his tendency, though he does take some mid-range shots. With Yao Ming starting over him, he doesn't see many minutes, but it leaves other teams wishing that Yao would just be left in the game instead.
axelgomez13 rating- 7.5

Donte Greene- It's too early to give a rating, but he scored 11 points against the Blazers, and has a tendency to pull up for three often. He has a future in this Rockets franchise, and is 20 times happier on the Rockets.
axelgomez13 rating(against the Blazers)- 9.5

King James stripped from his throne [19-2]

[18-2] Houston Rockets 100-92 Cleveland Cavaliers [15-6]

The King probably thought the rim was Delonte West's face.

The Rockets were hoping for a non-sloppy game heading back to Houston to face the Cavs. In the first, the Cavs got off to a good start, but the Rockets made a good run and were ahead by the end of the first. The second quarter was more Rockets, with Donte Greene going green from three point territory. He scored 12 points. Things didn't get good until the dying minutes of the fourth, where the Cavs made a 9-0 run, coming within 2. The Rockets scored in the other end, and the Cavs gave the ball to their most clutch player (sarcasm), nobody other than Shaq! He attempted a mid-range shot and missed! The Rockets pulled ahead and due to the Cavs' stupididity in not getting the ball to LeBron, and continue undefeated at home. LeBron James scored thirty, but appeared to be quiet the whole game because all he did was just catch and shoot, where Mo got most of his assists. Yao invited Big Z and Shaq to a block party, as they both contributed to Yao's 4 blocks.

New game recap format [19-3]

Wed May 26, 2010 10:38 am

Announcement

To save me some time (and thread space), I will be doing game recaps differently. What I will do, I will post 3-5 game recaps in one post (What?). They will be short recaps, and they will include the following:

    1-2 pictures from each game

The SPOTG and top scorer(s), top rebounder(s), and top assister(s) from each team and game.

The box scores and actual score

A brief description of each game (maybe)

Last but not least, the other team's record

Here is a small sample of my game against the 76ers, but pictureless (wasn't signed in to EA again :x ):

[19-2] Houston Rockets 77-91 Philadelphia 76ers [8-14]

The Rockets had a horrible shooting night at Philadelphia and were blown out again on the road. They had the lead for most of the game, but Iggy and Elton Brand were just too much as the Rockets were launched out of Philly, and were held to a season low 77 points.

SPOTG-

Andre Iguodala

Top Scorers:

76ers: Andre Iguodala- 23

By the way, if you REALLY MUST know who had double-doubles (Or any other stats really), just ask me, and I'll refer to my notebook of stats! :D
