This recent payroll the faculty had is just half (or maybe even less than half) than what we expect to have. It's always like this every end of the semester. It's like they're obligating us to do the remaining paperworks like students' grades but this is overkill. Like
we need the feckin' money too
The other half of the salary would be on April 15th. And if we fail to submit all deliverables, that other half of the salary would be given on the 30th. God, they love the faculty very much. I'd like to tell them that "yes, you give us the students to teach with all the marketing and stuff but: we get to face them everyday, get our throats to dry, sleep late at night to prepare for the next lectures, compute the grades, (and in my case) participate in multimedia activities that you don't even bother paying," and so on. But doing so would be an automatic boot out. They love to turn the tables too in these conversations.
While the staff, department heads, and administration went on a summer outing last Saturday, while the entire faculty had to work all day that day.
Then I asked one staff member last Saturday (a computer laboratory facilitator) if they also received half of the usual payroll and she said "No, mine was normal."
I went nuts.

Honestly I think this job is great, if weren't for our school's policies they put up -- which they (the administration and the staff) also break.
A co-faculty of mine is the niece of our boss. During clearance week, she isn't around BUT she gets cleared like her clearance moves on its own.
Plus some staff also teach, which leaves us faculty like "LOL WUT? We are THE teachers here." And these staff-teachers tend not to attend their classes regularly -- but they're not being bashed by the Dean.
And some of them give incomplete grades to students resulting to the kids being asked by them to buy something for their grade to be complete. A student of mine is the latest casualty. They were not able to attend the last activity for the Finals and were given an incomplete grade. Instead of having them do the said activity for completion, they were instead asked to buy a set of microphones.
That same staff-teacher asked a group of students to buy a sound system worth 8,000 bucks (in Pinoy currency) to have their grades completed. Such wonderful people.

That's a problem in every school here in the Philippines. One of the teacher I know in my school want's a hard disk for our class (10 each class), I gave him an old hard disk (512 MB) and he give me 2.25 as a grade. LOL I was his best student in the class and I got the lowest grade. I think most of the people here in the Philippines are corrupt

It shows. It gives me a guilty feeling while its fulfilling to see students progress while some numbskulls who call themselves teachers do something like that. Hell, it's so wrong.

That's why you remain poor and will be dirt poor in the near future Lean.
Learn to do illegal things or if you're smart, find some legal loopholes. Speaking of which, is a market for candy flavored crack for kids a viable option?...

Well, that sound issue with blu-ray movies is still driving me fucking nuts.
As Pdub mentioned, it does seem to be a conflict with the HDMI between the blu-ray and HDTV, and the surround sound system that's connected to the blu-ray player. But what I don't understand is, why in fuck's name do I get the 5.1 sound for the previews and intros (and even the blu-ray menu where you select the language, the bonus features, etc), and I get fucking nothing as soon as the movie starts?!!
I tried a bunch of different setups, I switched from optical cable to coaxial, I tried connecting the TV directly to the receiver with an optical cable, I changed the blu-ray player settings to HDMI-mute (which is basically supposed to stop the HDMI cable from taking the sound portion, thus leaving the optical cable plugged to the receiver do that job), and I get the same outcome.
I figured my receiver might be fucked and it may not decode the sound correctly, but then why the hell would it work fine during the previews/intros?
Not sure what to do anymore here...

EDIT: it looks like
this guy had the exact same problem. I'll try to install the latest firmware and see what happens for now...

You're aware that instead of melting down there's a work around that lets you patch the Steam version, right?

My sister called 911 for my father since she found him on the ground with his eyes rolled back. He said he was choking on a french fry. He didn't want to go to the hospital even though the paramedics were urging him to. They think he may have been having a seizure, which could be true, although I did find a pack of french fries on the ground near the trash can where he had fell. He seems pretty coherent, although I don't believe his story about "getting into that position to try and lodge the french fry out" since he was on his back and his glasses had fallen off several feet away and that my sister said she heard a crash from him falling.
Now he just told me that his fall had straightened his glasses, but I was the one who did that after finding them. Maybe he had a small seizure causing him to choke, or maybe he was choking and it caused a seizure. Either way, no more french fries. And hopefully seizures.
