Ricky Davis at Turk Telekom

Postby Murat on Sat Mar 13, 2010 5:12 am

Few days ago, Turk Telekom signed Ricky Davis after Serkan Erdogan goes to Meridiano Alicante. In his first match, he played with 8 points against Bornova Bld.
When I saw that news, I'm confused. Davis is at Turk Telekom, and I'm so curious because:

He is so "tricky" as I think. Turkish people is tricky too. I dont know what will he be...

Davis should still be in the NBA.

Shadow,Bobcats should fall to 8th seed, otherwise Jae wont post the Vids.

Why? This guy can't even hit double figures in (what I assume is) THE TURKISH LEAGUE.

The report the other day that half the teams use stats will just make this league divide worse. As all the terrible teams continue to recycle worthless players, and everyone else is drafting DeJuan Blairs.

Out of topic, but captain Jack is really doing it. 1.0 game ahaead of Miami for 8th seed. But I think Miami will retain 6th and push Bobcats out to 7 or 8th. We might witness a first gay porn ever in Lean's secret porn shop here in NLSC.

I don't know but, no one wants him in NBA. He said "I dont know about European basketball. I heard only Efes and FB Ulker. I wanted to come to Europe".
So, he is:

Also, Telekom is eliminated from Eurocup. Damn, he is over front of Bekir Yarangume and Demond Mallet.

Of course, cuz in Europe there are not so much athlete players like in NBA so game is slower, and the match time is 8 min shorter, so that's why there's no big numbers and triple doubles...
But that doesn't mean Davis won't play well and help the team only because he won't have 20pts, 6rebs and 5 assists.
Look for example Josh Childress in Olympiakos, he doesn't have impressive numbers, but he plays a big role in the team, he is so dominate under the basket, but u can't see that by the numbers. Actually you do, he has very good numbers for Europe standards, but for NBA standards its just an average performance

Yeah, some players in Euroleague from NBA can't play well. Slavko Vranes (NY), is playing worse in Partizan. Aleks Maric and Jan Vesely defeated him. Or Taurean Green (POR). He went to AEK (the old legend). Think Atlanta player Esteban Batiste. Why does he cant carry the Xacobeo?

Khalid El-amin had a really good career in euro league. I'm sure Bron or somebody like MJ would just dominate in euro league if the coaches there knew how to utilize them. But Ricky Davis? He seemed to have lost a passion for basketball even when he was in the NBA. No surprise to see him sucking there.

Both players I mentioned, not only dominated(s) in the NBA, but also in the international games. It would be surprising if they couldn't in lessor leagues. To be honest, I think those who only fails a bit tend to go to Euro leagues, looking for better contract since no team in the NBA would offer them so much. But seeing how Scola and Jennings are playing, I gotta admit their level has been upped in recent years.

Horrible examples. None of these guys played well in the NBA either. Vranes suited up for three minutes for Portland, missed a shot and fouled somebody. That was his entire NBA career. Green played a total of 74 minutes, during that time he shot a 28% fg%, and had a turnover rate of an insane 23%. Had he not shot 92% from the line his ORtg would have been even more atrocious than 84. Batista was the only one anywhere near below average, and he played a whopping 70 games, averaging a mindblowing 7.6 p/36 on 49% scoring (44% shooting) while turning it over 25.5% of the time he touched it. If he wasn't an alright defender and solid rebounder he'd have negative career winshares.

How could Vranes possibly play worse for Partizan than he did for Portland or New York? Why would you assume Batista could carry any team when he's a big man who shoots 44% from the floor?

Of course if we're being stupid like this, we can say things like Anthony Parker busted out of the NBA in 400 minutes, then came back nearly a decade later after racking up two Euroleague MVPs and a Final Four MVP, and became a key role player for a 40 win team! Trajan Langdon? Tyus Edney? Rens' boyfriend Nate Huffman? Somebody named Joseph Blair? Charles Smith?

You can't look at some of the worst players to play in the NBA, wonder why they can't play anywhere else too, then decide LeBron James, only one of the greatest players of all time, couldn't play in Europe.
cro_dark91 wrote:Of course, cuz in Europe there are not so much athlete players like in NBA so game is slower, and the match time is 8 min shorter, so that's why there's no big numbers and triple doubles...

Right, which is why LeBron would just barrel past and over everyone for the entire length of the game without getting winded. He does this to the bigger more athletic NBA players already.

He's been terrible for the last three years in the NBA, is 31 and has had injuries, of course he's going to play worse, he's on the further downswing of an already downswung career.

LeBron would dominate, but he als would have problems with traveling all the time. He does not only already blow past the bigger NBA players, he also already does a lot of travelling which does not get called in the NBA.

Yes, quite true, and the distance he can travel in just a step already makes him pretty undefendable.

The Heat just beat the Bobcats to move up to sixth, Charlotte moves down to seventh. In the meantime the 8th placed Raptors beat the Nets to narrow the gap to half a game I believe.

We're getting there.
