Re: Da Clip Show | Free Agency | Depth Charts | Pre-Season

Accidentally closed out the browser when I was 90% done with the first game recap. I don't have the team stats for this one anyway, but expect a smaller recap than usual for it. Probably going to do shorter write-ups anyway since I doubt people read my entire eight paragraph game recaps.

Los Angeles Clippers (1-0) @ San Antonio Spurs (0-1)

Behind Trout's 34, Clippers Upset Spurs In Opener
Clippers 109, Spurs 96

November 1, 2010 - Travis Outlaw had a phenomenal game, and as a result, the Clippers upset the Spurs to win the season opener. Outlaw, acquired in a mid-season trade from the Blazers (affectionately known as "Trout"), scored 34 points on 14-19 shooting, scoring 22 of his points in the Clippers' dominant second half. Eleven Clipper players saw action, and each managed to score at least one point.

San Antonio actually outplayed us greatly in the first half. Hobbled Eric Gordon had eight points, but wasn't himself, and hurt the team. Heralded off-season acquisition Tracy McGrady couldn't find his shot, nor could Baron Davis. If not for Tony Parker's extremely poor play and Outlaw's late first-half explosion, the game could have been a blowout in the home team's favor. Thankfully, we were lucky enough to only trail by five by intermission, with Richard Jefferson leading all scorers with 17. He would not score again.

The third quarter saw LA's other team fall behind by double digits, then completely turn the game around. Trout was absolutely unstoppable, T-Mac started scoring, and while Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman weren't factors on offense, they played solid D. Rookie Al-Farouq Aminu got some minutes, and impressed with 7 points and 3 boards on perfect shooting in just ten minutes. We would lead by five going into the fourth, then a 10-2 run to open the fourth would prove to be the game. Trout would finish with 34, two short of his career high. However, the fact that he did so on 19 shots makes it arguably the best game of his career to date.

The win is the first Clippers season opener victory since the 2007-08 season. Tim Duncan played very well for the losing side, putting up a very efficient 25 points and 13 boards. However, it wasn't enough. The Clippers will have their hands full in their next game, as they travel to Houston to take on T-Mac's former team: the Houston Rockets.

Richard Jefferson has nothing on the Trout! | To describe Gordon's play in one word: injured.

Image JORDAN Player Of The Game: Travis Outlaw (Clippers): 34 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists 14-19 FG (31 minutes)
Though he missed out on his career scoring high by two points, Trout had arguably the best game of his career. Scoring 34 points on 19 shots, he kept the Clippers in the game when the offense went stagnant, and led the charge during the run that would ultimately decide the game. Outlaw now leads the league in scoring, TS% and PER.

Image MCDWYANE Shitass Of The Game: Tony Parker (Spurs): 2 points, 5 assists, 3 turnovers, 0-7 FG (32 minutes)
Tony Longoria played like shit. The French point guard failed to make a single shot, and he looked extremely rusty out their. His poor play may have ultimately cost his team the game. If TP plays like this all season, the Spurs are finished.

Other Noteworthy Performances

Baron Davis: 12 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds (33 minutes)
Tracy McGrady: 17 points, 3 assists (27 minutes)
Blake Griffin: 8 points, 8 rebounds (27 minutes)
Al-Farouq Aminu: 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, 3-3 FG (10 minutes)

Tim Duncan: 25 points, 13 rebounds, 10-12 FG (37 minutes)
Manu Ginobili: 20 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds (34 minutes)
Richard Jefferson: 17 points, 4 rebounds (35 minutes)
Jermaine O'Neal: 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks (30 minutes)

Love this kind of recaps, Trout is doing great (Y)

Good debut for McGrady but how shit was Parker. Looking at the other Spurs players stats if he had just had an alright game it would've been much closer. Anyway I guess you played good D and great way to start the new season.

Wow, what a game by Outlaw. What kind of shots did you take? Some threes included? I think his shot is decent, but has still room for improvement. I definitely like the idea of Trout being the number one scorer on your team, high school kid with potential.

I want TMac to have an All-Star season. Tell Trout to pass the rock to your true star!

Los Angeles Clippers (1-1) @ Houston Rockets (1-0) | Team Stats

Rockets Humiliate T-Mac, Clippers In Rout
Rockets 110, Clippers 77

November 6, 2010 - Well that was a buzz-kill. After an exciting season opener victory in San Antonio, the Clip Show ventured to Houston, where T-Mac's former team blew us out. McGrady himself scored just 7 points (to his replacement Kevin Martin's 26), and the Rox won by 33 points.

The game seemed to be winnable at first. Though Eric Gordon was taken out due to an irritated knee and poor play, the game was competitive and the first quarter concluded with the Rockets up by one. This continued in the second period. Then, something changed. With three minutes left in the half, the Rockets went on a 14-2 run to take a decent lead going into intermission.

This would prove to have a lasting effect. The 13 point deficit became twenty, with only Ronnie Brewer playing well. It wasn't long until garbage time commenced. Jordan Hill got his time to shine, and despite our supposed depth, we managed to get trounced even in garbage time. Al-Farouq Aminu failed to score in 14 minutes of PT, and Shaun Livingston looked horrible, and Trout followed up his 34 point explosion with a paltry 13 point outing.

All in all, this game could be classified as disappointing, but that was be a gross understatement. We got crushed and humiliated in every single facet of the game. I was so bummed about this loss that I didn't even bother to check who we play next. T-Mac needs to step it up, and Baron Davis needs to stop playing and looking like a fat homeless man or he will become one.

Steve Blake is the Yao stopper! | At least Ronnie Brewer played well...

Livingston hasn't lost everything. Just his talent. | DeAndre Jordan really enjoys garbage time.

Image 28 28 28 26 110

Image JORDAN Player Of The Game: Kevin Martin (Rockets): 26 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists (38 minutes)
Tracy McGrady's replacement thoroughly outplayed him, dropping a team-high 26 points, leading a bonafide offensive performance for the home side. Martin could be on the way to his first all-star appearance if he keeps this up.

Image MCDWYANE Shitass Of The Game: Baron Davis (Clippers): 8 points, 2 assists, 5 turnovers, 2-11 FG (31 minutes)
Eric Gordon played poorly, but that was justified due to injury. Boom had an atrocious .4 assist-turnover rate, and his shot was completely off. Davis hurt the team early and often.

Other Noteworthy Performances

Yao Ming: 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks (35 minutes)
Aaron Brooks: 16 points, 6 assists (32 minutes)
Trevor Ariza: 14 points, 5 rebounds (25 minutes)
Luis Scola: 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4-5 FG (30 minutes)

Ronnie Brewer: 17 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 7-9 FG (34 minutes)
Chris Kaman: 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks (31 minutes)
Blake Griffin: 11 points, 7 rebounds (31 minutes)
Travis Outlaw: 13 points, 4 rebounds (26 minutes)

Hate to bump an old, dead topic, but on a whim, I sent my sig for this story to The Basketball Jones, and what do you know, they actually showed it and reviewed it. (I am star struck)

Here's the link to the show: http://blogs.thescore.com/tbj/2010/12/2 ... hill-bros/ It doesn't come on until 11:50 for whoever is interested (anyone? crickets?), but it's a pretty good show anyway.
