I changed the lineups for your Bulls and even with that, they lost by 16, what do you want me to do? :P

Give us Brook Lopez for nothing

EDIT: would also be nice if you don't kick our bench's ass with starters :shake:
Even with a 20-point lead, he finally pulled the regular rotation players with 1:12 left to play

I'm so gonna drop 50 on you in my association

Redemption :: Nets acquire Hakim Warrick

Postby kibaxx7 on Thu Feb 18, 2010 12:34 pm

Yi Jianlian back to the Milwaukee Bucks, his first NBA team
NETS ACQUIRE HAKIM WARRICK

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., December 9, 2009 -- The New Jersey Nets have acquired forward Hakim Warrick from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for forward Yi Jianlian, coach Thierry Tirieux announced today at press conference, with Warrick by his left side. “We feel we have gained great flexibility with the addition of Hakim. He gives us balance in the frontcourt, having produced at both power forward and small forward positions,” said Tirieux. “Trading for a guy like him was a good get for us; a very good get for us. He is not only a talented player, but he can also deliver quality production down the stretch of games. He brings athleticism, he brings energy, he has some toughness, he loves to rebound the basketball -- he always has. And he's become better and better offensively.” The trade will be effective tomorrow, as Yi is suspended for the Nets game against Golden State tonight. Yi will complete his suspension and fly to Milwaukee to join his new teammates tomorrow.

Warrick spent the first four seasons of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He figured he'd be back on board with them for at least a fifth year, if not more, but on July 23, the Grizzlies suddenly opted to withdraw the qualifying contract offer they had extended to him, and he became an unrestricted free agent. Just days earlier, someone had asked Bucks general manager John Hammond if he expected to make any major deals anytime soon. Hammond didn't have anything on his radar at that moment, but when Warrick unexpectedly showed up on his screen, he didn't waste any time. He quickly began working the phones and on July 31, the Bucks signed Warrick to a one-year contract. Some teams (including Cleveland, Charlotte and Philadelphia) tried to get in late, but Hakim had pretty much made up his mind. Hammond made up his mind on the matter as soon as he became aware that Warrick was a free agent. The only pause he may have made was caused by a bit of shock over Warrick's availability.

    Image

The 6 foot-9 inch, 220-pound Warrick, a native Philadelphian whose late-game heroics helped Syracuse University win its first NCAA Championship in 2003, averaged 11.6 points and 5 rebounds last season with the Grizzlies, and owns NBA career averages of 10.2 points and 4.3 rebounds. Grizzlies' decision not to re-sign him took Warrick by surprise, but his disappointment quickly turned to optimism, though, after the Bucks showed him their interest. Warrick played 20 games with the Bucks before the team placed him on the trading block and once again, had a change of mind. “Yeah, it (Hammond's decision) wasn't of my liking. At least I got the call from him to tell me he made a mistake. It really was disappointing, because I had career-highs in this team, and I was consistent,” Hakim said -- as he pointed, he was averaging 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds with Milwaukee, career-highs. “But I'm really looking forward to this opportunity with the Nets, especially coming in to play for Coach Tirieux. If I had to define myself, I'm definitely a long, athletic guy. A competitor who's going to compete night-in and night-out. A guy who'll knock down the 15-foot jump shot.”

One of the common denominators of Warrick's career, during both his pro and college years, is a high field-goal percentage. He makes sure to take good, open shots. There's no need to rush them when he's on the court. In the roles that he has been in, he couldn't afford to take any bad shots. He had to make them count. He has consistently been an accurate shooter. Through his four years in the NBA, he has shot 50 percent from the field. “He’s another huge piece that makes a lot of sense for our ballclub. He’s a great talent offensively, and only enhances what we are trying to do,” said Nets owner Rod Thorn. “I’m looking forward to his addition to our squad and I also hope, as everyone on the Nets organization, he can stay for a long time here in New Jersey.” Tirieux is counting on Warrick's competitive nature to bring out the best in his teammates, particularly those with whom he'll be contending for frontcourt minutes. As Tirieux said, it's healthy to have competition at a position: Nets now have Warrick, Kris Humphries, Josh Boone, and Tony Battie all capable of playing PF. At the SF position, there's Jarvis Hayes and Bobby Simmons, knowing, though, both can play the power-forward position on occasion as well.

Yeah good trade. Warrick is a good addition. I like how you used the diffuse (is that it?) effect on the pics to get around the pixelation that gifs make. Good wins vs the Warriors and Nets too (Y)

Ok, I gotta be honest now. I really want to finish this season and go to June ASAP! So, any tips to post the season quickly? Maybe like a Valor's monthly recap (if he gives me the permission to use it) ?

I'd like to think Valor's monthly recap style was loosely inspired by my Hawks dynasty's monthly recaps which were loosely inspired by The X's dynasties. You don't need permission to use a similar recapping style to someone else's. There are only so many things you can do with a dynasty.

I know what you mean about wanting to get through the season. My Wolves dynasty ended partly because I couldn't wait to go through with my plans for a Sessions - Kevin Martin - Wesley Johnson - Kevin Love - DeMarcus Cousins starting five.

So you suggesting I should end this one too? I would end up with Indiana, one of my favs, in a complete roster revamping, and everyone would hate me even more for not getting past 25 games. I think I will do that if this fails.

My idea was doing something like Mafia's (preview and recap all 82, but I think he will be the only one to ever do it), or homicide's (the website for played games and just a short paragraph for simmed games).

[17-29] Redemption :: Monthly Recap (Mid December + January)

Postby kibaxx7 on Fri Feb 19, 2010 12:16 pm

Monthly Recap :: (December 16 - January 31)
Nets still at the bottom of the Atlantic

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., January 31 -- This past one-and-a-half month mirrored the things coach Thierry Tirieux’s squad will accomplish the rest of the season. They were carrying a 2-game losing streak coming to December 16, when they hosted the Utah Jazz at IZOD Center. The Jazz won 101-90 thanks to Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko, who led five players in double figures; Devin Harris led New Jersey with 33 points. The Nets would go to lose two more games (at Toronto, 93-114; and against the Lakers, 111-120 -- 33 by Harris --), but recovered with a 101-75 rout of Minnesota on December 23, with Harris scoring 29 and Kris Humphries adding 16 and eleven rebounds. But after that triumph, the Nets wouldn't win a game until after New Year; all those losses at home, and by an average of 10 points. Despite the 11-21 record, Harris, Brook Lopez and new addition Hakim Warrick served immediate notice: as great as they were on the first half of December, that was only a preview of the month to come.

New Jersey tipped off January with an incredible 102-92 win over Cleveland, with Harris scoring 28 points and Bobby Simmons a season-high 23; that was the type of triumph the team and coach Tirieux needed to catch a new breath. Three days later the Nets hosted Milwaukee, in the first game between the teams since the Warrick-Yi Jianlian swap. Despite Harris going 0-of-6 from beyond the arc, Harris, along Lopez (14, 8 rebounds) and Kris Humphries (13 and 10), overwhelmed the Bucks, 112-69. The following night, In front of a sold-out crowd at the Philips Center, the Nets opened a 3-game road trip against Atlanta, but lost all 3 contests -- Hawks, New Orleans and San Antonio. It was smooth sailing for the Nets when they returned home as they once again posted two wins against all bets: a 110-108 win against the Boston Celtics behind a buzzer-beater by Warrick, and a 116-101 triumph over Indiana, with Harris and Lopez combining for 57 points; the Pacers were in a 6-game winning streak. But it didn’t take long for the Nets to be brought back to Earth as they faced the Los Angeles Clippers three days later at the Staples Center, where the Clips dropped NJ, 108-82. The Phoenix Suns would sent them to their second straight defeat two days later with Jason Richardson and Amare Stoudemire scoring 23 and 26, respectively.

Image

New Jersey had a day of rest and then flew to Golden State, where six players scored in double figures to overcome Stephen Curry's 21 points and post a 92-85 win over the Warriors. The Nets weren’t tested again until they traveled to Utah the following day; Mehmet Okur had 25 points and Deron Williams 21 in a 112-109 win, featuring a last minute rally by Utah. New Jersey would then rest for 3 days and host the Clippers on January 27, but Baron Davis' 32 points gave LA a 102-93 win. Harris would score 39 in a 100-99 last-second lay-up win against Washington two days later; the team was rolling with confidence after such huge win, but they dropped their final game of January, a 96-88 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and Allen Iverson, who had a team-high 24 points.

Beginning February, Cleveland (35-14) and Boston (29-16) have the first two seeds in the East, while the Lakers (35-13) and San Antonio (30-16) have the best records of the West. The Nets had an acceptable 45 days, and have the 14th spot of the Eastern Conference at 17-29. The positive aspects of all those games were the triumphs over championship-contending squads. Also some teams offered deals that Tirieux scratched for now, but said they could be done by the trade deadline: Orlando, Toronto, Oklahoma City, a second trade offer by Milwaukee and even the Lakers have made offers. The scary thing -- for the rest of the league -- is that Harris is getting warmed up for February.

Guys, I'm not ending this one but it's going to be on hiatus for some time. It's kinda getting boring, so I'm gonna do something like X and do monthly recaps every now and then, sporadic updates, something like a simmed story.

It's very probable that I start a Pacers story on the coming days, also going with quick monthly recaps for first season, and then betting all my chips and photoshop /photoimpact skills in the second season with Indiana.

I swear to God, I'm not ending this one. Like Lamrock said a couple of posts up, I really can't wait to the offseason, but the middle is really boring. So in the meantime I'm going with the Pacers, and when I get bored, sim a month and post it here, and then continue the rest of the story (hopefully, a couple of years) also going monthly. :D

Martti. wrote:The monthly recap looks good. Humpries and Warrick are doing well. (Y)

Thanks man :) It's really a battle between Warrick and Humphries, Warrick's starting and Humphries is the 7th man behind Dooling on the bench.

Definitely sim the rest of this one out, but you should really consider making your Pacers association have twenty-nine game seasons. You got through twenty-nine games with this one no problem, and the thing everyone wants to see you do most is get through at least one season with a team. If you make your Pacers one have eighty-two games per season, I guarantee that there will be no chance you make it through your second season after you simulate the first. If twenty-nine games seems a little too short for you, then go with fifty-eight. Remember this post when you end your next association prematurely. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it's just how bad I want to see you have at least one successful association.
