When you click Poll creation it has "If you do not want to add a poll to your topic leave the fields blank"... under that it has Delete Poll with a checkbox next to it. Click that, then click Submit and it should be gone. If it doesn't work I'll sort it out.

I was just helping your beloved Bulls, man! They offered me James because they only had one shooting guard, and he was signed from the D-League team :P

um...where the heck is John Salmons :?: shouldn't the Bulls' lineup be Rose, Salmons, Deng, Thomas, Noah and Kirk Hinrich/Brad Miller as the 6th/7th man?

In the roster I downloaded Salmons is a SF and Hinrich a PG... didn't bother to correct positions before I started the association. :P Will change it now. You don't want Hassell to start, right?

Redemption :: Why New Jersey wants to trade Yi

Postby kibaxx7 on Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:47 am

Chinese forward to leave the Nets in the next couple of days
WHY NEW JERSEY WANTS TO TRADE YI

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., December 7, 2009 -- Truth be told, nobody is incurring more internal disappointment in New Jersey than Yi Jianlian, whose teammates wondered after recent games about his effort and focus. The Chinese forward has said trade talk would not affect him, but his energy on the court has made him look as though he's halfway packed and ready to leave. It has reached the point that the Nets are more inclined to trade him before the last days of December if an acceptable deal arises. At least four teams are exploring a trade for Yi.

During training camp, Nets new head coach Thierry Tirieux talked about a need for the team's stars -- Devin Harris, Brook Lopez and Chris Douglas-Roberts - to play like stars this season. Some sources say the Chinese didn't accept that the coach showed a lack of faith on him. Harris often is brilliant offensively, often is quiet -- 43 points against Sacramento, 24 against Charlotte, but a season-worst 13 against New York, last week -- although the burden of being the team's only playmaker is draining, despite his backup Keyon Dooling's offensive performances. Douglas-Roberts has provided explosive scoring as of late, and Lopez is the 2nd star of the team and posting huge numbers, averaging a double-double.

Nets owner Rod Thorn and coach Tirieux met with Yi's agent a week ago in a private meeting at IZOD Center, and told him that will not make him an extension offer. Yi and Tirieux have had many verbal fights and the Nets organization fined the forward with $10,000 and a one-game suspension -- Vinny del Negro and Tyrus Thomas, anyone? -- , to be served this Wednesday 9, when New Jersey plays at IZOD Center against the Golden State Warriors. Last Friday, the Nets defeated Charlotte, 101-91, but Yi was outplayed by Charlotte's Boris Diaw, who had a season-high 34 points. Even more, Yi had 5 personal fouls in only 17 minutes. Yesterday, New York's Al Harrington also had a season-best 31 points, as many as Yi has in the past five games combined. Yi played 18 minutes and once again collected 5 personal fouls.

    Image

Asked if Yi was fine physically after another couple of sluggish outings and characteristic poor ball control, Tirieux said, “He says he is. I know we had our fights in the past, and I sincerely hope he can get more minutes and a better spot in other squad. There's really no sense for him to stay here and not playing with focus.” Yi said he wants to stay with the Nets, his second NBA team -- Yi played for the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons --. If the Nets net some value in a trade, it could be for a player with remaining contract years -- despite the Nets' current plan of getting final-year deals -- or one with an expiring contract. Rumors pointed at San Antonio's Manu Ginobili -- who has recieved public acclaim by Tirieux -- or even Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire. The Suns also publicly said, they are looking for young talent -- Yi and Nets' forward Jarvis Hayes often are rumored by Arizona newspapers -- if they feel Stoudemire's time in Phoenix comes to an end. But the Nets are unsure if they could get a long-term Stoudemire contract insured, because he will need another surgery on the knee that underwent a microfracture procedure in 2005.

There are also a few teams for which Yi has said he would like to be part of, on a long-term future, but some merely want his expiring contract. Teams like Boston might pursue financial relief in a deal -- the C's reportedly offered Brian Scalabrine, who played in New Jersey for four years --; even New York, also shredding contract for upcoming offseason, has offered Nate Robinson to the Nets in exchange for Yi -- Robinson's contract gives him the right to make the call, but he said to the media he would welcome a move to NJ -- , and teams like Milwaukee (Hakim Warrick) and the Memphis Grizzlies (Rudy Gay -- whose averaging career-lows -- and Darrell Arthur for Yi and swingman Courtney Lee) have also offered trade scenarios.

Thierry, nice article but a few kinks i kinda see...

I know the article's intention is to highlight the bad parts about Yi and why he needs to be traded, however......from those quotes said by Coach Tirieux, from a responder/readers' standpoint, i see a bad coach more then a bad player. You might want to rephrase some of the statements in the article to make it sound better and allow the intended message to be delievered (Y)

of course, there IS Roland Barthes' notion of the 'death of the author', but that's a bit extreme, you as the writer would need to use certain techniques to persuade your readers, or better yet, "Guide" them on the path towards accepting your point of view

sorry about all this stuff, i'm studying for my english exams now and it's just getting into my head

Thanks bro, deleted the "can't stand him" parts; added a Tyrus Thomas-del Negro reference. Thoughts about the last paragraph trade scenarios?

Gay+Arthur for Yi+Lee is a bit of a rip-off in my mind. That offered trade for Dooling would be good if you get rid of Yi. But then you'd have Harris-CDR-Gay-Gooden-Lopez and I'd say that's a Playoff team and the whole idea of a Nets association would be gone. :D You already have the wins the real Nets might not even achieve.

You make big deals too early in my mind. So to sum up, do the Dooling deal and trade Yi for Warrick. :P

expiring contract

I thought his contract expires in the 2011 offseason? if he expires at the end of this season, why not just keep him?

All trades I'm posting -- except the Scalabrine one -- were offered by the CPU, in fact. I know it's a bit of a rip-off, but I'd do it if I got that offer in the trade deadline, not right now. Yi for Warrick is the frontrunner right now.

In my roster he has a 2-year team option, which of course, I won't accept, so if I could trade him for Warrick (which does expires this June, but I would re-sign him) it would be great

[8-13] Redemption :: @ Chicago.

NETS DUO PICKS APART BULLS AT UNITED CENTER
Preview | Recap | Best Performances: New Jersey -- Chicago | Full Play-by-Play | Team Stats | Image Watch Highlights

Image

CHICAGO, December 8, 2009 -- This one was hard to predict. The Bulls were 6-12 coming to this game, losers of two straight games (two blowouts, actually, by an average of 29.5 points) and the Nets lost a heartbreaker at the MSG against the Knicks. I think it was an horror show for Chicago's Vinny del Negro. The Bulls shot 55%, the most efficient a Nets opponent has been all year so far, and also 44% from beyond the arc, but even with those percentages, lost by 14 points. And this one was even worse for del Negro, as the Bulls were without Derrick Rose almost the entire second half, as he went down with an ankle injury, as he finished with only 8 points and 8 assists. Kirk Hinrich did a fine job in his place, finishing with 10 points and three assists, sharing Rose's minutes with Jannero Pargo (5 points). Rose's absence could really be felt in the lack of intelligent plays by the Bulls' backcourt, but it was the duo of Devin Harris and Brook Lopez that really killed Del Negro's squad, and led New Jersey to a 110-96 triumph.

Harris and Lopez poured 19 each, with Harris adding a game-high 14 assists, and Lopez a game-best 13 boards. I'm also very happy with the statline of Bobby Simmons; I could say in some passages of the game, he looked more like the threat he was with the LA Clippers a few years back (he averaged 16 points, six boards, three assists in 77 games that year, 2004-05). Simmons added 14 points in 6-of-9 shooting and he could have had a season-high in assists but the shots didn't fall for his teammates, he had some really great passes. Yi Jianlian, in what surely was his last game in a Nets uniform, added 11 points and seven boards. Courtney Lee also added 11 points. Collectively, the only area where the Bulls topped the Nets was on assists; of their 38 made field goals, 31 of them were assisted (New Jersey? 27 assists on 44 baskets). The Nets outrebounded the Bulls, 41-27, and pulled down an impressive 17 offensive boards, a stat that comes with a negative part, as it takes a lot of misses to get those opportunities. Even with those offensive rebounds, the Nets were able to shoot .500% from the floor.

As the Bulls entered the fourth quarter down by 19, Del Negro actually throwed in the towel -- he pulled the starters as the Bulls will play at Atlanta tomorrow, a direct playoff opponent. I know Tirieux and he is never one to give up, even when the score is most daunting. Even with a 20-point lead, he finally pulled the regular rotation players with 1:12 left to play. Despite the big loss, several Bulls had fine nights, but shorthanded, without Rose, the only way they have a chance to beat the Nets yesterday would be for Luol Deng to drop 40 points. Deng scored a team-high 17 points and six assists, 8-12 field goals, while Tyrus Thomas -- who, just like Yi and Tirieux, had a feud with Del Negro and got suspended -- had 16 and 8 boards, 6-of-8 from the floor. John Salmons added 14, but made 6-of-15 shots. A positive note, rookie James Johnson posted 8 points in 9 minutes, a perfect 4-4 shooting. On a last note, Trenton Hassell and Jerome James, who swapped uniforms a couple of days ago, didn't play.

Everyone thinks I'm gonna trade right now! Just sharing some trade scenarios. I won't do a multi-player deal until the deadline, I'm making a .txt file with the poll results so I'm doing the most popular trade when the time comes. I'm only doing Yi-for-Warrick in a couple of days. :cheeky:

I must thank everybody for the great support. Never got this amount of replies in such a small period of time (more than 100 replies in a week), making this story, by far, my most successful (Y)

Saw that comic already before, good addition. The real life Nets probably won't even reach to the win amount you already have, so you're doing a decent job there.

Thanks man. Didn't want to end winning 8 games of 82, but I could go on a 69-game losing streak  With this team, you really don't know.

Note: As I'm at work and really not have any work to do :cheeky: I edited the roster and the schedule on the index. (Y)
