Did everyone else foul out? I think the rule is that you must start the game with 5 players on the floor but you can finish the game with a minimum of 2.

naw that's nba live 2003. I downloaded DK's rosters and something got messed up. The Pacers have only like 3 guys.. only 2 starters. So when I play them there are only 2 people on the court.. pretty funny. hehe

As far as the foul-out rules go...

After a player picks up his sixth foul, he is removed from the game...

If you have 8 players on the roster and 3 of them foul out, then you must run with the 5 that have not fouled out... with me so far?

When one of your remaining 5 picks up his sixth foul, because a team must have 5 players on the court at all times, the player who picked up his sixth stays on the court, however, every foul he picks up afterwards counts also as a technical... the other team shoots two and gets the ball back.

This is just a cautionary rule -- I've never heard of it happening in the NBA... the coaches usually have good enough rotations that the players don't foul out, and often, there isn't enough time to foul everyone out... but, if a team only dresses eight... it could happen.

As matter of fact, it did happen. In highschool girls basketball... this was long time ago, so before that rule came into effect. One team dressed only 8 players, and they all fouled out and kept fouling out. So the team had to forfeit when there was only one player left, and she couldn't inbound the ball. Ironically, the other team was so bad, that they'd not won a single game before that. Furthermore, until the team had to forfeit, they were still beating the other team...

I think that may have been the motivation for the foul-out rule.

Also, there's an instance of only four players playing on Hoosiers. One of his players wouldn't listen to him so Gene Hackman, playing Coach Dale, refused to put him on the floor, and he ran the four on the court.

There's enough rules preventing any team to play with less than five players, so the foul-out rule is really just a precaution...

All the best,

Eugene

 Very Good Idea: DK, your error could be a solution to all those who complain about the lack of 2on2 3on3 etc. Tell me how u did tht, it'll be a good change of pace :D

Have already tred and it is impossible to play 2-2 or 3-3 and here is why.

To get this occurance you have to give 2 players the same roster spot and they "erase each other out".
As soon as a sopt is erased there are no players below it, so for example if you gave 2 or more players starting PG everyone below SG is not visible.

So to get 3-3 you have to basically have C-PF-SF on the court because if you "erase" the C everyone on the team is pretty much gone.

This is where the problem lies, if you go with the C-PF-SF line (the only possible one), nobody is there to catch the tipoff tip back since the PG is not there, and instead of just going out of bounds the ball spins in place where the PG shoud be and the game crashes in about 5 seconds.
