November 9, 2009 | Golden State Warriors (5-1) @ Minnesota Timberwolves (2-6) | Season Series: Warriors lead 1-0 | Team Stats
Warriors Outrun, Outgun Struggling Timberpups
Warriors 114, Timberwolves 102
Long story short: Rookie point guard Stephen Curry lit up his draft class counterpart Jonny Flynn, and Andris Biedrins had a huge game as the Warriors easily defeated us. The entire game was played at their up-tempo pace, and we never stood a chance. While we "only" lost by a dozen, this game was a blowout from start to finish.
The Rundown: The Warriors were in control from the get-go. Al Jefferson enforced his will in the first period, scoring 10 points on the Warriors interior defense (or lack thereof), but we couldn't seem to ever get stops, and ended up trailing 34-30. Al Jefferson sat down with early foul trouble, and Golden State proceeded to dominate us. Before our leading scorer came back in, we had fallen into a 15 point hole. It was clear that this was a different Warriors team than last year's disaster. The lead got as high as 20, until we finished the half on an 11-4 run.
Despite having twin towers in Kevin Love and Al Jefferson, we have been very erratic on the boards. This game was no exception, with the size-challenged Warriors dominating us in that category. The reason was Andris Biedrins. The Latvian seemed to grab every rebound in the period, and he and rookie Stephen Curry formed an unexpectedly potent offensive duo. The pair had 22 of their combined 47 points in the third quarter, and despite Corey Brewer actually making some shots, we fell into a twenty point hole, which we would never recover from.
We entered the fourth quarter trailing by 19. We knew that the Warriors were one of the few teams who could very easily blow a 19 point lead in 12 minutes, so we persisted. Surprisingly, both teams entered a scoring drought. Neither team made a field goal for the first five minutes of the final period. Our reserves played out the remainder of the game, and gave us our one winning quarter of the game (23-16), but we never stood a chance. The Warriors cruised to an easy 114-102, improving to a surprising 5-1. We fell to a completely expected 2-6.
Individual observations: Kevin Love grabbed only 4 rebounds, which is more than five under his average. We were -8 on the boards, and we really could have used those. He is a bonafide rebounder, but he and Al seem to both struggle on the boards when they're playing together this season. Speaking of which, Jefferson had a huge game, scoring 25 points on just 15 shot attempts, but grabbed just 6 rebounds himself. Our only other player scoring in double figures was Corey Brewer, who had 16 points. Stephen Curry dropped 27 on Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions, who combined for 14 points, 8 assists and 5 turnovers. Sasha Pavlovic was completely irrelevant, posting a trillion. The Warriors shot 64% over the first three quarters, and finished just under 60. While he shot over 50% ourselves, it is still unacceptable to be such a shitty defensive team.
Final thoughts: Our defense was bad. We were out-rebounded by a Don Nelson-coached team. Stephen Curry had a career night. We are still winless on the road. We have only one swingman who is competent enough to even be in the rotation of a playoff team. Thank God for the Yao-less Rockets' 1-7 start for keeping us out of last place in the Conference.

Looks like my MS paint at work is older version. Will do it when I get home.

November 13, 2009 - The Timberwolves played some of their best, most inspired ball of their season against the visiting Dallas Mavericks. In the end however, the young team fell short in the clutch, and couldn't get the win against the Southwest leading Mavs. The game was extremely close throughout, with 15 lead changes and 8 ties. Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard had solid outings, but they were the only Mavericks scoring in double digits thanks to the home team holding them to 42% shooting. The game was tied at 87 with a minute remaining, but the Wolves missed 4 of their 5 shots, and suffered a tough 92-89 loss, falling to 2-8.24 24 23 21 92 (7-2) | Nowitzki: 22/12/0 | Kidd: 7/9/10 | Howard: 17/5/3

Mafia's record-setting dynasty is full of dead links, as are Marquis's Mavs, Seraph's Nets and Cocobee's dynasties among others. Sad to see such work go to waste.
