Go Wisconsin! The only team to beat Duke thus far..Just beat #15Ohio this week too. Wisconsin never gets any love but we always kick ass!

Yep, I've always liked Wisconsin since they signed New Zealand's 2nd favourite son, Kirk Penney

except for that year illinois made the NCAA Championship i'd have to agree...although i think they were the one team that gave us a challenge until UNC. Go big ten: as long as its not michigan or ohio state

Hopefully, Wisconsin will get some love if they beat #11 Michigan State tonight..

Just watched replay of Kentucky-Louisville game. I just don't like Wall & hope he doesn't succeed. Same for DeMarcus Cousins. I would however like Patterson to succeed. He seems like he'll be a solid pro (Y)

Just throwing out there: Evan Turner=the Tyreke Evans of next year's draft? Just came back from injury (fractured vertebrae, I think) and he looked very impressive (32 Tuesday).

Re: NCAA Talk

Wed Jan 13, 2010 10:24 pm

I don't think he's Tyreke Evans of this year's draft. Tyreke was a very good high school player who played out of position as a freshmen in Memphis & didn't play as well as people expected him to, but he was more suited to pro game. Tyreke has surprised by how ready he was.

Everybody already knows that Turner is ready to roll

I just listened to Simmons' podcast with Chad Ford (since I really have nothing better to do in the holidays). In it, they agreed that John Wall was better than Deron Williams right now.

I think all of Sydney heard me facepalming. The guy's unbelievable, does everything on the court but I can't see him better than Williams, at least straight up in his rookie year.

Re: NCAA Talk

Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:49 pm

Chard Ford is an idiot. No way Wall is better than Deron Williams right now

If they said he was better than Derrick Rose (who's overrated) right now then I might be inclined to agree :P

Re: NCAA Talk

I heard that! Chad Ford is prone to falling in love with players though. Kentucky, potentially, has 5 NBA guys (Wall, Patterson, Horton, Bledsoe) who will be in the L within the next 4 seasons.

Most NCAA commentators are that way: hence my depsising of them

Dickie V thinks anyone from the ACC is gonna be a great pro
Future hall of famer if they go to UNC or Duke

Why is DeMarcus Cousins ranked 16th on DraftExpress? 28.9 p/40 and 17.5 r/40, both pace adjusted, both lead the nation. 19 years old and his PER is 39. Dear god.

And when did they stop posting scouting reports.

And when did Evan Turner start threatening to average a triple double per 40. (And does Dr. Seth know?)

Re: NCAA Talk

Wed Jan 20, 2010 6:19 am

Yep, I'm surprised Cousins is that low. I figured he was top 10 prospect at worst at the moment. Either way, hope his attitude improves :P

As for Turner, he threatened to average a triple double from the opening game this season. Only the broken bone in back made everybody forget.

Re: NCAA Talk

I'm not that high on Cousins (minority, it seems). Only watched the Wilfcats a handful of times, but it feels like he's been a "rely on athleticism and strength" guy so far. He's around 10-15 for me, and of course he's still got attitude problems...

NBADraft.net has him at #11.

Also, Donatas Motiejunas...where does he go? I imagine that Wall, Johnson, Turner, Favors are ahead of him right now, but there could possibly be others. Is he a top 5 guy?

Re: NCAA Talk

Fri Jan 22, 2010 2:05 pm

Cousins is a headcase and he needs to do a lot of growing up before he can be a contributor in major minutes. He's mad productive in his short amounts of time, but he gets frustrated with SEC defenders sometimes, I can only imagine his frustration versus professionals.

Don't know where you got that high. I haven't been a fan of his since I first saw him as his attitude sticks out like a sore thumb & I think Patrick Patterson will be a much better pro.

You guys and your attitude worries...who cares when he's putting up 29/18 at 19!

Nobody cared that Derrick Rose has an IQ of a house plant.

Re: NCAA Talk

Sat Jan 23, 2010 9:25 pm

There's a difference between "dumber than a rock" and "potential cancer". Still, I'm skeptical about how well his game might transition to the pros more than attitude, plenty of guys figure it out and there are always cases of guys seeming like unmanageable pricks who do the "hard worker, good teammate" thing anyway.

Okay, that was incoherent. But my point is somewhere in there.

A quick board of mine so far, down to 15...not taking into account team needs...

Wall, Favors, Turner, Johnson, Davis, Motiejunas, Henry, Patterson, Aminu, Monroe, Aldrich, Cousins, Bradley, Robinson, Warren

After that, I'm not so certain (or as familiar) with whom to pick.

More wonderful personality news about DeMarcus Cousins... http://www.collegehoopsjournal.com/2010/01/27/demarcus-cousins-allegedly-threw-two-punches-at-a-south-carolina-student/

Never a good thing, but he played well in the upset loss.

Re: NCAA Talk

That's no surprise about Cousins. The game I watched he threw a cheap elbow at the Louisville player's head whilst they were both on the ground after the whistle had been blown.

I cared, I don't like Rose. He'll probably be like Francis so once injuries hit in he'll taper quickly.

- John Wallace Syracuse/Georgia 1996 finish that I put here: http://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?p=1083749#p1083749
For those with a keen eye, you might notice Shandon Anderson playing for Georgia and throwing the pass that leads to the go-ahead 3 for the Bulldogs. This was my introduction to college hoops and I've been hooked since.

- Arizona vs Kentucky 1997 NCAA Championship Game
phpBB [video]

Both teams were pretty stacked. Kentucky had Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, Nazr Mohammed & Scott Padgett to name a few. Arizona had Mike Bibby, Michael Dickerson, Miles Simon (Final Four MOP) & a pretty nifty 6th man in Jason Terry. I remember this being a great game. How far Miles Simon fell from his one shining moment. Terry was my favourite player from the Wildcats. Bibby was a stud freshman too.

- Byrce Drew buzzer beater for Valpo to beat Ole Miss in 1st Round upset at 1998 NCAA Tournament
phpBB [video]

He only got a chance to win it as Ansu Sesay (Mav's early 2nd Round pick in late 90's bricked 2 FT's), but what a shot & what a moment. This shot propelled the Bulls to waste a mid-1st Round draft pick on him

The best rosters I've seen (97 Final)

Re: NCAA Talk

Kentucky's team was actually a lot better the prior year when they beat John Wallace & 'Cuse. Kentucky had 7 NBA players (Antoine Walker, Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, Tony Delk, Walter McCarty, Nazr Mohammed, Mark Pope) & also had quality guards Wayne Turner & Jeff Sheppard who probably didn't leave the bench much but were both very good college players later in their college careers.

There's talk of the 96 team March Madness format being a done deal...Do you guys think this is a good decision? A proposed added 31 games.

I love March Madness as much as anyone but its long enough and big enough as it is. How many Division 1 bball schools are there? I know more than football but isnt that about 50% of all schools will make it?

Re: NCAA Talk

im cool with 4 play-in games....but expanding that far is ridiculous.

Re: NCAA Talk

Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:15 pm

I think they should cut it back to 64. No team that makes the Big Dance should have to have a play-in game. Just reduce the at-large bids by one :P
