Hi guys,
I'm a huge Dirk fan and I play on PC- so there are some jumpshots/fadeaways not available to PF's.
So i changed Dirk's position to SF (he actually plays like a SF on offense anyway) and gave him the 'GUARD NORMAL' fadeaway. It's really quick and looks a lot like his one-legged fadeaway.
I like to post up, then quickly step back and launch a quick fadeaway just like Dirk does in real life.
Next, I gave Dirk Paul Pierce's post roll fadeaways. It's the closest you can get to that quick, messy, Dirk fadeaway. Dirk's default post roll fadeaways HAVE NO LIFT AT ALL. Also, if you want that one-legged fall away, refer to my previous paragraph.
Also, Dirk does NOT SHOOT FLOATERS/RUNNERS. So I gave him Steve Nash's runner which looks just like the short fadeaways Dirk uses in the paint. (Damn if only I could completely deactivate hook shots for Dirk)
As for his Signature jumpshot, his default has the right stroke and follow through- everything else is just wrong, however. Here is a run down of possible choices for Dirk :
Mayo - Good general animation, bad follow through
Horford - Very, very close but not enough JUMP/hang-time
Mace - Looks like Dirk's shots under extreme duress/defensive pressure
Salmons - Looks perfectly like Dirk's wide open mid range jumper but no follow through. TOO SLOW TO USE EFFECTIVELY imho.
A. Parker - Very smooth and with follow through (doesn't have those signature Dirk elbows sticking out on the gather, however)
Jason Terry - Useable except that little torso twist is just too Jason Terry to look good on Dirk, has a nice follow through look
Yi Jianlan - Fan favorite for Dirk, its got the stroke. However, I hate it on Dirk because it just doesnt capture the vibe of Dirk- no follow through, no 'snap' on the release
and finally, my pick for Dirk:
M. Webster - It's got the smoothness of the A. Parker animation, just enough of a nice follow through animation, a bit of crazy legs drifting forward (semi-fadeaway look) AND he takes a few steps back after landing- VERY Dirk. IMO, it's a nice middle ground/compromise of all of Dirk's crazy shots- smooth, has some air and lift to it, has an epic follow through, and a bit of craziness in the legs PLUS the few steps falling back on the landing.
Yup, I'm a huge Dirk fan. I hope someone like this hehe.
