Clippers Destroy Thunder To Get Above .500
Clippers 113, Thunder 96
January 12, 2010 - Coming into this game, we knew it would likely be the only chance of the season to get above .500. Surprisingly, the Clippers played like it, destroying Kevin Durant and the blunder for their first true blowout of the season.
From the start, we were dominating. We had our obligatory 8-2 start (seriously, how does that manage to happen every night?), but we held on to it. Despite some early phantom fouls, the Clippers had difficulty scoring. Meanwhile, Eric Gordon caught fire, scoring 8 in the first period, and Al Thornton and Baron Davis had 6. A clearly frustrated Kevin Durant had just 2.
The second period saw the Thunder hit a pair of threes to get back in it, before we resumed our dominance. For some reason, the visiting Thunder continued to get all the calls, but that didn't phase us. A three-point play by Marcus Camby put us back up by double digits, and despite Durantula finding his stroke, we would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the game. Unfortunately, Baron and Chris Kaman got into early foul trouble, with 4 and 3 respectively at the half.
Even with our starting point guard and center riding pine for most of the period, we were scoring at will, and put the nail in the coffin in the third. KD continued to put up points, but the Blunder couldn't stop us from lighting up the scoreboard. Off an Eric Gordon trey, the lead became twenty and garbage time commenced. Notable highlights included a season-high 13 minutes and 7 rebounds for DeAndre Jordan, and Mardy Collins playing. However, I admittedly turned it off after the third, and didn't regret it as no valiant comeback was made.
This was the second-to-last game of our extended home stand, with our final easy game being on the 14th against the 4-8 Miami Heat. Our surprising winning record (and 7th place in the West) will likely be lost on our road trip, which includes stops in Dallas and Portland. A win against the ice-cold Heat (omg see what I did there?) would be a huge boost for our playoff hopes. Speaking of which, Blake Griffin could return for our January 20 game against Dallas! With Craig Smith's recent poor play, he should bolster our frontcourt greatly.
Some additional news is that we have made a Blockbuster trade! We sent Brian Skinner and Kareem Rush to the 8-7 Sacramento Kings in exchange for a conditional second-round pick! Skinner is averaging 0 PPG and 0 RPG in 0 minutes per game, as is Rush. The deal is a total salary dump for us.The Kings bolster their depth (barely), giving them a big body in case they end up making the playoffs, as well as another shooting guard to back up the oft-injured Kevin Martin.![]()

JORDAN Player Of The Game: Marcus Camby (Clippers): 18 points, 10 rebounds, 7-8 FG (30 minutes)
Marcus Camby has had a rough start to the season, posting career lows in nearly every category not called rebounding. With his atrocious shooting percentage, age and expiring contract, many expected him to be traded soon. This was his response. Scoring a very efficient 18 points on 8 shots, and grabbing a double-double, Camby destroyed undersized power forward Jeff Green, and enjoyed his best game of the season.MCDWYANE Shitass Of The Game: Nick Collison (Thunder): 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1-5, 4 fouls, 2 turnovers (15 minutes)
Another day, another shitty game from a white reserve PF. Nick Collison played just fifteen minutes, but he had a very impressive 5-6 Voskuhl. Despite playing less than a third of the game, Collison posted a -12. His defense on Camby (the Clippers' worst offensive rotation player) was even more lackluster than Green's.

Russell Westbrook: 19 points, 6 assists (38 minutes)
Jeff Green: 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists (35 minutes)

Beasley Drops 28 As Heat Burn Clippers
Heat 123, Clippers 99
January 14, 2010 - Its tough to decide which part of tonight's loss was hardest to swallow. Michael Beasley played like a #2 pick for the first time this season, burning us (pun intended) for 28 and 8 boards. We could have been 6-4 with the win, but were thwarted by a 5-8 squad. Methinks the winner in that regard was Sebastian Telfair blowing two consecutive shots at cracking the century mark and getting us free tacos.
The game wasn't quite what you'd expect from the final score. We didn't play that much worse than them in any area or quarter, they just consistently outplayed us narrowly across the board. They shot a little better, crashed the boards a bit more and turned the ball over slightly less. After the first period, the Heat took a 28-24 lead, despite Dwyane Wade registering just two points.
The second quarter was more of the same. The Heat were a bit careless with the ball, and we got sporadic production from Baron Davis, Chris Kaman and Ricky Davis, but the Heat were unstoppable from beyond the arc. Bassy nailed a layup with 1.4 seconds left to conclude the first half with us down just 8. Dumbleavy said that we needed to step up our D (duh, it was fucking horrible at times. If I had a dollar for every time a Miami player was left wide open, I would be able to recoup the money I lost from betting on this game. (Put away the gun Gilbert! I'm good for it)
Things fell apart in the third. We opened the half with a decent comeback attempt, coming within 3 points. Unfortunately, D-Wade scored 12 of his 19 in the third, and when he wasn't scoring, he was deferring (getting his first double-double of the year). The Heat finished the quarter on a 16-5 run to take a commanding 83-68 lead going into the final quarter. Richardson hit yet another three, and that was followed by a Mario Chalmers and-one to put the final nail in the coffin. The rest of the game became garbage team in which both squads padded their stats. Unfortunately, Bassy blew a layup with 33 seconds remaining, and a jumper with 5, and we fell just a point short of the 100 point taco threshold.
Ricky Davis had a great game off the bench, scoring 18 points in as many minutes. He also outplayed the underachieving Eric Gordon, who scored 11 points on 4-12 shooting. He also out-did fellow reserve swingman Rasual Butler. Davis leads the team in PER, and if he continues to be the team's best 2 guard, there could be a starting job in his future. Baron had a great game with 21 points and 11 assists, besting Wade's 19 and 10. If only Miami had scored 25 less points. Then it would be perfect!
Our next game takes place in Dallas against the 9-3 Mavericks, ending our seven game home stand. It is a certain loss. With 8 of our 10 games being at home, and 7 of them against losing teams, our 5-5 record seems very unimpressive and temporary. A late lotto pick seems to be out destiny unless Blake Griffin makes a big splash in his return. This is the Clip Show however, so I wouldn't hold my breath. With our 5-5 record, we currently sit in eighth place, a half game ahead of the 6-7 New Orleans Hornets.![]()

JORDAN Player Of The Game: Michael Beasley (Heat): 28 points, 8 rebounds, 12-16 FG (35 minutes)
Michael Beasley is the softest "power" forward in the NBA (Thornton plays the slight majority of his minutes at the 3), and has had a fairly underwhelming career to date since being taken with the #2 pick in the 2008 draft. Fortunately, he got to play the Clippers tonight. Dropping season highs in scoring (28), rebounding (8) and field goal percentage (75%), Beasley broke down our _efense.MCDWYANE Shitass Of The Game: Rasual Butler (Clippers): 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 3-13 FG, 0-5 3pt (23 minutes)
8 points and 5 rebounds isn't too bad, but he wasted 23 minutes of our time, bricking shot after shot, and turning it over twice. Give his minutes to Ricky Davis and Steve Novak, and we lose by less than twenty. Fact. Now, I haven't forgotten Butler's big games earlier this season, but Rasual has got to realize that he is still just a role player, and ultimately, Al Thornton's backup.
Other Noteworthy Performances
Dwyane Wade: 19 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds (36 minutes)
Quentin Richardson: 24 points, 5 rebounds (33 minutes)

Chris Kaman: 14 points, 9 rebounds (30 minutes)
Ricky Davis: 18 points, 6-9 FG (18 minutes)
Al Thornton: 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists (34 minutes)
