Damn, Al Thornton had a good game :P Nice win

I suggest not making any moves just yet. You seem to be learning game-by-game how to use your players. Put it this way, your 3-3 and you are still learning how to play with these guys and if you trade for someone that you know how to use(and feel confident using), it's going to get a little easy and that becomes boring. Especially once Griffin comes back. Between the 4-5 you have 96 minutes and you could easily split that between Kaman, Camby, and Griffin, possibly even using all 3 at once sometimes with Griffin at the SF spot, and they would all get 30+ minutes. Thornton could back up Griffin and Craig Smith can sit.

Sat Jan 02, 2010 8:47 pm

Yeah, I think I'm going to wait until I have Griffin return, which is a few games away. I don't play on the highest difficulty so I'm not sure I'll have to worry about it becoming too easy, but I see your point. Hate to see Craig Smith be left out of the rotation, but them's the breaks.

Kaman did well last game. As Pdub said, you seem to start learning how to use your player effectively. It always takes some time. The Clippers are talented enough so trades do not make too much sense anyway as there is no position I would call out as a bad spot.

Good win! CP3 is tough to cover. He's so quick.

Fire Dunleavy and hire Saunders!

Wouldn't think you can beat the Hornets with such ease. Knowing your dislike towards Thornton, surprised he's the Player of the game. :D

Thornton can't shoot, but he is surprisingly effective for his position. Also running shooting drills for him every month. It looks like I'll stand pat for now and see what happens.

Going to replace Dunleavy with Saunders as soon as its justifiable.

Second that. Saunders is one of the coolest most open-minded coaches. Dunleavy is everything else.

Dunleavy has taken the Clippers no where.

It's justified cause I said you should!

Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Clippers

With Huge Ensemble Effort, Slumping Jazz Dominate Clippers
Jazz 105, Clippers 90

December 29, 2009 - It was bound to happen. We were bound to be brought back down to earth, and the Jazz were due for a big victory, after losing eight of their first eleven. However, don't think I'm excusing our team. They played like shit. Even though it was a home game against a 3-8 team, I just knew we were going to lose.

The first quarter played out very similarly to the first period against New Orleans, except it was us on the losing side. Despite Baron Davis's early eight points, Utah had control the whole time, countering a 6-0 Clipper start to take a 22-4 run. While we would make runs, that lead would prove to be insurmountable. The Jazz entered the second quarter leading 28-19.

Sebastian Telfair missed his first four shots, leading us to believe he, like Rasual Butler before him, had cooled down from his two big games. Andrei Kirilenko nailed a pair of big threes, and at one point, the Utah lead was 20. Thankfully, a late run thanks to some inspired bench play helped close the gap. The aforementioned Butler scored 8 of his 17 in the second quarter in his return to form game, and Baron hit a buzzer-beater layup to trim the halftime deficit to thirteen.

Quarter 3 saw the Jazz getting to the line at will. Deron Williams, who shot just 3-11 on the night, managed to score 16 thanks to 12 free throw attempts (of which he converted 10). Bassy got the hot hand, which kept us in the game. However, Chris Kaman, who was having a solid night, fouled out late in the quarter, thanks to a substitution mistake by Dumbleavy. An excellent stretch of play actually saw us within 5 points. Then one of the dumbest plays of Clippers history (which is really saying something) happened. Al Thornton, who had 7 points and 5 rebounds (thankfully on just 7 field goal attempts), intentionally chucked it out of bounds so we could get the quarter's final possession. Carlos Boozer would score, making it 73-66 going into the final period.

Utah opened the final period with a 14-2 run, killing any chance of a Clipper comeback. A discouraged Dunleavy gave up once the deficit hit 19, going with a bench lineup. Rasual Butler and Sebastian Telfair would put up solid lines, but Ricky Davis showed why he doesn't play much anymore, DeAndre Jordan looked like he learned nothing from the low post offense drills he's been apparently been doing every month and Mardy Collins played for the first time this season, registering two points and a foul in a minute of play. Utah cruised to a 105-90 win.

A big difference maker was free throw shooting. Utah earned more attempts (28-24), but the real difference was that they made theirs. Utah converted on 23/28, while we made just half. Baron shot 2/6 from the stripe. We were also out-rebounded by 10, but that's probably because we missed 10 more shots. The loss demotes us to tenth place in the Western Conference, and Utah up to (a tie for) twelfth. This game is our last in the year 2009. Our next game is January 6th, when we face the 6-4 Phoenix Suns, in the third-to-last game in our long home stand.

Eric Gordon would go on to miss this dunk, somehow... | Deron Williams also gets paid as a cheerleader on the side

Kirilenko: "Oh god it's happening again, isn't it?!" | Mardy Collins' first minute of the game = game over

Image JORDAN Player Of The Game: Deron Williams (Jazz): 16 points, 16 assists, 4 rebounds (37 minutes)
We had to face two of the league's premier point guards in consecutive games. This time, it was Deron Williams. Williams had 16 points, but more importantly, set his teammates up all game, including three alley-oops. Williams broke down the Clippers defense, and got his team the win.
Image MCDWYANE Shitass Of The Game: Marcus Camby (Clippers): 0 points, 8 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 0-4 FG (29 minutes)
Marcus Camby tied Chris Kaman for the team lead in rebounds with eight, but he was awful offensively, committing three turnovers, and fumbling several open looks. Maybe he is the big man we should be shopping, as he's been horrible this year.

Other Noteworthy Performances

Baron Davis: 24 points, 4 assists (32 minutes)
Sebastian Telfair: 16 points, 6 assists, 2 steals (25 minutes)
Rasual Butler: 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 7-10 FG (30 minutes)
Chris Kaman: 10 points, 8 rebounds (25 minutes)

Andrei Kirilenko: 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks (33 minutes)
Carlos Boozer: 14 points, 11 rebounds (35 minutes)
CJ Miles: 15 points, 7-7 FG (22 minutes)
Wesley Matthews: 17 points, 4 assists (27 minutes)

Argh tough loss. It's surprising to see that Utah is struggling in most Ds but just not in mine. You really need to hit your free throws. I have the same problem right now. After shooting very well from the stripe I kind of lost my feel for the timing and now rank among the worst three teams in FT shooting.

If Camby continues to play like this, you gotta shop him. Kaman still has some potential, so I hope that you keep him then.

Good game by Davis, btw, I wonder how you score with him. More driving or also many Js?

Always sucks being jazzed on. Still, 3-4 is a good start for the Clippers, although admittedly you haven't had the toughest schedule to start. Interested to see if you can keep around .500 (Y)

December 2009 Review: Part 1

January 1, 2010 - And so ends another terrible decade for the Clips. We continued to be the league's laughing stock, registering just one playoff appearance, and multiple 60 loss campaigns. Also under our belt are three different rebuilding attempts. With some promising young talent on the roster such as Sebastian Telfair and Eric Gordon, a #1 pick on the way in Blake Griffin and some talented veterans in Marcus Camby, Chris Kaman and Baron Davis, one might think things are looking up. They are - but why do I have the gut feeling management will ruin it?

We started the season 3-4, with five home games, and just two games against teams on pace to make the postseason. Our record isn't as impressive as some super-fans would like to believe, and despite Griffin's impending return, it only gets tougher from here on out. Right now, Baron Davis and Sebastian Telfair are carrying the team with their uncharacteristically efficient play, but its hard to tell how long it will last. We've had some role players step it up, but as it stands, we are still a subpar squad. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Josh Smith's stats are off the charts. 3-4 isn't bad. And Butler looks like a strong candidate for 6th man of the year early on, if he can keep it up.

Seems pretty consistent for 2k10. He averaged about 18ppg, 11rpg, 3.5bpg, 2.5spg and was DPOY in my first year :P

Anyways, 3-4 is a pretty good start. Let's see if you continue that into the New Year (Y)

Not a bad end of a really sucking decade :)

I like some numbers on your roster. I mean Telfair is posting very decent numbers for example, as well as B-Diddy.
It seems like a comeback of Griffin could be another step for you since your guys inside do not post the stats one could expect.
Good to see the Lakers and the Cs battling for number one. Sweet update! Looking forward to more. (Y)
