Season Opener: Warriors 108, Clippers 80
Warriors Open Second Half With 19-0 run as Clippers suffer disastrous defeat
November 6, 2009 - When I saw that we would open the season facing the Golden State Warriors, I thought that we might actually open up the season well for once. It looks like I was wrong, as we did just the opposite.
Baron Davis responded to the home crowd's boos by posterizing Ronnie Turiaf on the opening possession. This set the tone for the first quarter, as we got off to an early 22-10 lead. Unfortunately, Eric Gordon took over, chucking bad shot after bad shot, and not defending. Golden State finished the quarter on a 12-3 run, but for some reason, Dumbleavy left him in, instead taking out Baron, who had the hot hand.
We seemed to regain our barrings in the second period, getting our lead back up to eight. A Warriors timeout saw our "coach" go with a small-ball lineup of Sebastian Telfair, Baron, Ricky Davis, Al Thornton and Craig Smith. Monta Ellis then proceeded to take a shit on the Clippers defense, leading his team to a 16-3 run. Despite a pair of treys by Rasual Butler, we went into halftime down nine points. When asked by Craig Sager about the small-ball lineup, Mike Dunleavy said "yeah that was dumb".
The third quarter was an absolute travesty. The Paperclips were held scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half by the Warriors, yes, the Warriors. The result was a deficit insurmountable for any franchise not called the Kings. Finally, Butler ended the run with a jumper. Dumbleavy kept his main guys in, but the Warriors put in their underrated second unit, who kept the Warriors afloat to give their team a 90-62 lead going into the final period.
The fourth quarter was garbage time. Even Steve Novak got some burn. In a quarter unusual for Oracle Arena, the two teams combined for just 36 points in the final period as the Warriors cruised to a 108-80 victory. Bad Porn won player of the game honors with 22 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. On the bright side, Baron Davis and Rasual Butler had solid games with 16 points apiece. Our next game will be our home opener against Ben Gordon and the Pistons, before we finish out the month (gotta love 29 game seasons!) in San Antonio.![]()

JORDAN Player Of The Game: Corey Maggette (Warriors): 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists (31 minutes)
Corey Maggette was fantastic off the bench for the Warriors tonight. The former Clipper's ugly style of play was huge in the Warriors' 19-0 run to start the second half. Bad Porn also had a team-high +35.![]()
MCDWYANE Shitass(es) Of The Game: Eric Gordon & Al Thornton (Clippers): Gordon: 7 points, 3 assists, 3-16 FG (34 minutes)
Thornton: 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 2-10 FG (27 minutes)
Eric Gordon and Al Thornton were both so bad that I couldn't even decide who was worse. Eric Gordon hurt the team early and often with his constant bricks. When you are shooting under 20%, you shouldn't lead your team in field goal attempts. C'mon son. Al Thornton quietly put on a show of bawfulness, going 2-10 and committing 3 turnovers. His butterfingers and poor shot selection were major factors in the third quarter scoring drought.
Other Noteworthy Performances
Monta Ellis: 19 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds (30 minutes)
Anthony Randolph: 10 points, 11 rebounds (21 minutes)
Anthony Morrow: 21 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds (28 minutes)
Baron Davis: 16 points, 7 assists, 4 steals (31 minutes)
Rasual Butler: 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3-4 3pt (28 minutes)
Marcus Camby: 2 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks (27 minutes)

End of any racist discussion.
