Welcome Portland fans, to my blog here in TrailBlazers.com. My name is Thierry Tirieux and owner Paul Allen signed me from Europe to be the head coach of this team. So this very first all-by-myself post will just help you better get to know who the heck I am. I have lived in beautiful France all my life. I'm 23 years old, I love food (obviously), traveling, reading, being with my friends, and of course, basketball. I also have an unhealthy obsession with Hot Wheels cars, but don't tell anybody. I still go to Paris a couple of times a year to visit my friends who still live there. When I’m not traveling for work and am home in France, I really just spend most of the time with my brother and his kids. Maybe this is information best kept to myself but the truth is, I am my best, my very happiest, when I’m with my family. And when I’m not with them I’d rather stay home and read a book. There's been a bunch of talk today about Greg's offense, or lack thereof, in the game against the Rockets. My first inclination was to credit Chuck Hayes, who is known for doing a great job of playing bigger than his size, getting under bigger posts and driving them from the basket. Most of Oden's turnovers last night occurred away from the basket, as he was pushed 8+ feet from the hoop and moving with less comfort or out on the perimeter, drawing body control fouls while setting screens. I talked to Chuck afterwards and said, “I tried to make it tough on him and didn't let him get position down in the paint. I tried to keep him off the offensive rebounds for easy put backs, but he still did a great job on the defensive end altering shots.” Throughout the game, I thought Greg rushed his shot. “I don't know if he was frustrated or not, because when he did get the ball I felt he was always out of position to score. It looks like he's in shape,” Chuck added. But that's just me. My other bad feeling is that our signing Lamar (Odom) suffered a dislocated finger in the third when he crashed with Carl Landry, it's gonna take at least 1 week but he can play. “I don't feel any pain, coach. I can play tomorrow”, Lamar told me; he had 12 and 10 rebounds. Good news, LaMarcus was everywhere tonight. He had 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 11-of-19, while Brandon had 21 and 5 assists. Steve had a pass-first mentality, with 7 points but 13 dimes.

In last night's nail-biting win, the key Rocket play was marred by the fact that David Andersen didn't know what he was supposed to be doing. Andersen made a colossal mistake on the game's final play of the Rockets' 92-90 loss on Tuesday night at Rose Garden, misreading coach Rick Adelman's diagram to set up a potential winning shot for Chase Budinger's hot hand. He accepted responsibility afterward. “Honestly when we drew up the play, I thought that I was supposed to set the pick for Luis (Scola) for the three,” Andersen said. “Really, he (Adelman) wanted me to face the ball and get it on the inbound, and then Chase steps back inbounds and I was supposed to give it right back. But the way the coach diagrammed it, I thought I was supposed to set the pick for Luis." Adelman's way might have worked perfectly if Andersen had gone to get the inbound pass and given the ball to Budinger, who made 3-of-5 shots on the night for 8 points, all in the fourth quarter. Steve left Budinger, the inbounder, to double-team Trevor Ariza (who had 14 points) at the top of the floor, so Budinger would have been wide open. But if you see the video, here's the hilarious and disappointing part: Andersen says he thought he was supposed to "pick for Luis" but the video reveals he didn't even really do that.

Are you kidding? A full recap for a simulated game with screens? I do photo shoots too, but I only post a paragraph and one pic about the games I sim. If you are going to write a long-winded recap, you might as well play the game itself. Cool recap though. One question: why don't you post pics of the boxscore? Isn't it pretty easy on PC?

Thierry's Blog: Carmelo & Chauncey killed us...

Welcome back Blazers fans, to my blog here in TrailBlazers.com. My personal topic tonight, before we go to the game against the Nuggets, is about two of the league's best players: Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. IMO, the only difference between them (outside from a playing perspective), involves perception and paranoia. Everyone seems to be writing Chris off in Toronto and everyone seems to be caught up in this imaginary world that would see CB4 join Dwyane in Miami. In Toronto, Chris' every word gets taken out of context or it gets twisted to serve some agenda; the Raptors have been in existence since 1995, but the media in this market, in all forms, continues to be uneducated and easily swayed by the most baseless gossip. The bottom line with this two superstars is that both players want to win because each will get the maximum amount of money available under whatever cap rules exist. It's as simple as that, even though too many people attempt to complicate matters. Let's go to the game:

Last night, he had 24 points. But tonight, LaMarcus was not that good. He was pretty much shut down by the Nuggets in the fourth quarter. Not being able to get two points in that 12 minutes when he got the ball in position was hurtful in this game. Also, Greg was slow to rotate on defense, which is not a surprise of course, but it did hurt us quite a few times. It is not a big deal overall, but both were brought here for games like tonight and no matter how it is judged, they didn't make the difference. Now, let's get something else said that needs to be. The Nuggets missed Arron Afflalo, who gained coach George Karl's trust in the 119-90 win over the Utah Jazz. Not having him out there to start the second quarter hurt the defense and we attacked Anthony Carter. Brandon really took it to him in the first half, but J.R. Smith did an excellent job on him down the stretch and Brandon went just 1-of-8 in the second half. Carter played just four minutes in the second half. Now that I've said that, LaMarcus had 16 and 12, along with 3 assists, but, as I said, he didn't score in the fourth. Brandon had 31, 4 and 6, adding 3 steals, shooting 14-of-25. Lamar and Steve had 28 point combined (Lamar managed to play 39 minutes despite his injured finger and he didn't feel anything); our Spaniard Rudy added 10. Carmelo Anthony had 29 and 12 rebounds, shooting 12-of-22, while Chauncey Billups posted 23 and 11 assists. Smith added 18, Nené chipped in 15 and Kenyon Martin posted 11 for the Nuggets, who posted a 40-32 last quarter and won by 7, 115-108. Smith left in the third quarter with tendinitis in his left knee.

Now, will LaMarcus, starting at his natural power forward position, become the All-Star-caliber player that we, Trail Blazers fans, expect? Of course he will. But, we need to make it work with him (so far, it has been great); it would make it difficult to get equal trade value in the future if it goes wrong. I said a couple of days ago that he would come off the bench, but I changed my mind. Then I tried him at center, for when Greg felt tired, and he wasn't that good. If he started there, he would not be able to handle a Shaq or a Dwight. They would do a number on him. You look at Blake Griffin and say he is going to be a star. LaMarcus could be a heck of a player if he averages numbers like last game every night. Off-topic, be sure to zoom the last pic I took... it's like a souvenir from a gay wedding.

Note that this layout is for simulated games (on the blog), and it's not a "recap", is more like, what the coach saw from the players... it's more informal... I prefer doing the boxscores with my own style...

I think it's too late now to give him the extension. I think it's in the rosters you download. I think you can edit salary info and contract status, but not 100% sure. That's why Brandon Roy has contract extension in place even though his was done pretty late in the off-season. Either way, just run with the fact that you didn't come to terms with LMA for a contract extension & he will play out his contract year. Possible trade in February perhaps?

Ok, I'll try. Odom has been great in this two, 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds... Outlaw has been kinda silent, he had 15 against Houston but he was nowhere to be seen facing Denver. 16 and 12 on 60% from the floor is great, but considering he had 24 and 8 the night before, Aldridge went a little more quiet...

Yes I can edit the salaries. But I won't edit them, as you said X, this will be LaMarcus' contract year. A trade isn't off the books.

Welcome back Blazers fans, to my blog here in TrailBlazers.com. Tonight I want to talk about this thing that happened on Saturday. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Sacramento Kings, 111-106, with Tony Parker flying for 41 points and 12 assists; but the bat that Spurs guard Manu Ginobili swatted from midair at the AT&T Center won't be flying very far anytime soon. By now, this video has flown around the world, which is more than can be said of one of its stars. The supposed snuff film, however, lives on. Yahoo.com's NBA blog had the video up within minutes. Web surfers from Buenos Aires to Beijing have downloaded the clip on YouTube. Ginobili's random act of pest control was the talk of the national highlight shows. “When you can't dunk anymore, you've got to find some way to make it to the news,” Ginobili told me in a text message. In a bizarre turn of events, Manu -- one of the NBA's top trick-shot artists -- has re-emerged as an Internet sensation, not for his basketball chops, but for his extermination skills. Perhaps bracing for the inevitable PETA protest, Ginobili swears he didn't mean to kill the bat, and doesn't think he did. He said afterward the bat was still moving when he scooped it up. “I stunned him,” Manu added. Reports conflict as to the ultimate fate of the bat. Saturday night, multiple arena sources confirmed the animal's demise. Sunday afternoon, team officials reported the bat had actually recovered and flown away. On Halloween night, sixth-man Trout scored all of his 7 points in a 24-3 run in the third quarter to beat the Houston Rockets, 103-80 on Saturday night. Two nights after losing 115-108 against the Denver Nuggets, the Blazers defeated the Rockets once again. Lamar was injured in the first game of the season, suffering a dislocated finger, but that didn't prevent him from scoring 18 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, and Brandon added 20 after scoring 31 against Denver. We kept getting production from the bench: Portland's reserves outscored the Rockets' backups 42-22 to help the Blazers get back on winning ways. “Those (bench) guys are getting a feel of the rotation and what is expected of them,” I said to Cheryl Miller after the game. “If you look around the league, the teams that are successful are those with benches that can give you 30 to 40 points a night.”

Rudy is an important part of those bench points. He scored 10 against the Nuggets and another 10 today, to go with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. “I know what the team expects, I need to score and be a factor,” Rudy said to Cheryl after me. “Coming off the bench doesn't bother me at all.” With us up by 19 points after outscoring Houston 27-17 in the third quarter, Rudy started the fourth with a pair of jumpers and we built our lead to 25. LaMarcus had 16 points and six rebounds to help us get our record at 2-1. Jerryd was another important part, with an amazing jumper over Aaron Brooks (who had 18 and 11 assists), a fastbreak dunk and an alley-oop, pass by Brandon (you will see it in the video). For the Rockets, Trevor Ariza had 16 points, six assists and five rebounds, and Shane Battier had 12 points. The Rockets have lost their three games so far, including a 109-99 loss at Golden State, missing T-Mac and Yao desperately.

The worst part is that we missed 12 of 13 3-point attempts. I think this was the first time in a lot of years that we make only 1 trey while having 10 or more attempts. The best part, is that we had 82 on the paint... we had to get those 103 points from somewhere! Another aspect I liked was the high number of assists: 43. 8 by Brandon, 5 by Lamar, another 5 by Rudy, 8 by Steve Blake, 6 by Jerryd, and the list goes on. Even Greg had 2. “It was obviously a pretty tough night, you are lucky we shot the ball poorly,” Rick Adelman said to me with a smile on his face. Brandon provided the game's most inspirational play. With the ball rolling toward the Rockets' basket in the third quarter, he beat Ariza to the play, diving on the floor and sent the ball to Bayless for the alley-oop (again, it's in the video, you won't believe it).

Much of the Rockets' baggage this season is on Ariza's shoulders, as I said, they're playing without T-Mac and Yao. The Rockets already said that Yao's recovery from a broken foot was behind schedule, but that setback might now cost him all of this season or worse, and the injury could be career threatening. Adelman said that the team initially said he would miss eight to 12 weeks, but a bone scan a couple of weeks ago revealed that the fracture is not healing properly. About McGrady, the Rockets have most definitely underachieved so far (I know it's only 3 games), but the question is, is this all Tracy McGrady's fault? Is it T-Mac's fault they haven't made it out of the first round in the last five years? Is it T-Mac's fault they aren't being the top-tier team they projected to be this year? And the answer to all of that is no. I refuse to believe that a team's loss can ever be just one player's fault. He wasn't playing one-on-five was he? No. Did he choose to get injured? Of course not. Did he put every imaginable effort into rehabbing that he could have? Well I don't know in all honesty, and neither do you, only Tracy can answer that, but in my opinion he has. The Houston Rockets have lost in the first round all those times, not just Tracy McGrady.

Next game: we are aboard the plane right now to visit the Thunder at the Ford Center. Watch out, OKC!

This recap for played games is a little longer, but I think it's OK... I'm very reflexive there If you read the whole post you will note I also talk about signings and other significant results in the league.

Melo and Billups killed me but remember it was a simulated game. In both simulated games the PG was off the hook, this time I limited him to 18. I have a lot Hot Wheels cars...

Nah, I'm really enjoying this team. Might do the Suns later if Tirieux gets fired or decides to try a different city in another season.

I read is Trout for TRavis OUTlaw. It's like calling Patrick O'Bryant "Notorious P.O.B.".

Woah, 82 points in the paint! although you should dominate, as the Rockets are very undersized down low without Yao.

Great win! And I'm gonna make a bold presiction - this will reach the playoffs and maybe beyond that! So don't let me down.
