Damn, my bad. :P Changed it. For all the people who made a 13 game record prediction, I'll just count the games. I'll give a day or two longer to make predictions. Also worth noting: This post is the 436th in the thread, making it equal in length to my most successful HOF dynasty, Flying High In The ATL. While Flying High has about 10,000 more views, it is nonetheless a cool achievement and I think this one is way better.

Well, I think those 10,000 views may have come in the last year its spent in the HOF, and it might just mean that there has been more spam in this thread, but I'll take it. Its also better because I'm not winning or making pointless trades as often, and the pictures and presentation are both way better in my opinion.

D-Will, Kevin Martin Among First-Timers As All-Star Reserves Are Announced

February 2, 2010 - The 2010 NBA All-Star reserves were announced today. While there have been a couple surprise selections (mostly on the considerably weaker East) and interesting omissions (on the West squad), it has been fairly predictable. However, we could see some unfamiliar faces should injuries ravage some of the selections. While fans of the Golden State Warriors will be disappointed to see their team suffer yet another season without a player in the all-star game, Bulls fans will enjoy having their first all-star since Michael Jordan.

Newly acquired power forward Amare Stoudemire will represent the Bulls in the all-star game (though he was voted in as a Center). Paul Pierce will make his third consecutive appearance as the Celtics' third all-star, while standout Hawks swingman Joe Johnson makes his fourth straight. Gilbert Arenas has put up excellent numbers for a struggling Washington Wizards team and will make his fourth appearance (first since 2007), and Michael Redd's career season has been rewarded with a spot of his own. Averaging just under 19/6/6, well-rounded 76ers forward Andre Iguodala has made the team for the first time in his career amid trade rumors. Rounding out the squad is lightning-fast Nets point guard Devin Harris, who makes his second appearance, leading the Nets to a surprising .500 season.

Perennial all-star forward Chris Bosh headlines the West's reserves, making his fifth all-star game, his first for the West. The Mavericks may not be doing as well as they would like, but Dirk Nowitzki is having another big season, earning his ninth appearance with ease. Veteran Nugget point guard Chauncey Billups makes his fifth straight appearance, and Blazers super star Brandon Roy will play in his third all-star game. Minnesota may be having a horrible season, but Al Jefferson isn't. Putting up averages in excess of 20 and 10, he makes his debut all-star appearance. Joining him will be fellow first-timers Kevin Martin of the Kings, and former perennial snub Deron Williams.

Two of the East's most notable omissions are starting Raptors guards Jose Calderon and Trady McGrady, the former averaging 14.2 PPG and a career high 9.4 APG, while the latter is averaging 20.7 PPG in a comeback season. Additional snubs include New Jersey's Vince Carter, Orlando's Rashard Lewis, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Boston's Ray Allen. The highest scoring snub is Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony, who misses his second consecutive all-star game despite averaging nearly 25 points per game. Additionally, surprising young standouts Anthony Randolph and Ramon Sessions failed to make the team. Perhaps the biggest snub however, is San Antonio's Tony Parker, who leads his team in scoring and assists. Additional noteworthy players who failed to make the cut include Grizzlies' Rudy Gay, Laker Pau Gasol, Spur Manu Ginobili, Utah's Carlos Boozer, Golden State's Steve Nash, and Portland's Danny Granger and LaMarcus Aldridge.

Warriors Hold Off Clippers To Pick Up Narrow Victory
Warriors 97, Clippers 95

Oakland, CA; February 6, 2010 - Home court advantage is big, as proven by tonight's game. The Warriors, coming off a win against the Phoenix Suns, were blown out by the Clippers last night in Los Angeles. The back-to-back shifted to the Oracle, and the change of scenery favored the Warriors, who jumped out to a quick start. While they began to falter in the second half. Golden State managed to pull off the victory to hold off their strong division rival.

The Warriors were unstoppable in the first quarter making their first 12 shots and pulling out ahead 38-25. The game looked to be a complete inverse of the one preceding it as the Clipper deficit increased to 20. Then came Eric Gordon to turn the tide. Scoring 12 in the final two minutes of the half, he cut the Warrior lead to a very reasonable ten points. A pair of treys by Anthony Morrow (who would finish with just a paltry 8 points, on 3-10 shooting) put Golden State back up big, but then the Clippers began to clamp down on D.

Don Nelson must have been aggravated as he watched his team piss away their big lead during an 18-4 run by LA's other team. Unfortunately for Clippers fans, Baron Davis drew a hard foul and did not return. Davis, who had missed all but 12 games to injury this season left the game clutching his ankle, but the injury's severity remains to be seen. Ramon Sessions shut down Steve Nash, and sent an array of dimes, as if to show the coaches who didn't name him to the all-star game that they had made a mistake. A well-timed three-pointer by gadget reserve Salim Stoudamire ended the drought, but it was too late: Golden State's lead was but to 79-76 going into the final period

Image Image
Left, Shaq Is The Latest To Be Posterized by Anthony Randolph. Right, Eric Gordon scoring two of his game-high 26 points

An 8-2 mini-run gave the Clip show their first lead since the opening minutes and from there it was a seesawing battle. With under four minutes to go, the Warriors found themselves behind by five points. Then, unsung hero Salim Stoudamire came to save the day. A clutch steal, pair of swished three-pointers and rim-rattling dunk flipped the momentum. Golden State found themselves up by four points with 40 seconds to go. Then, in an amazing sequence, the Clippers ran the clock down, then dished it to Eric Gordon, who sunk a three-pointer and drew a foul. He drained the free shot, and the Warriors took their final timeout. Stephen Jackson got the ball, but passed out of the double-team to Rudy Fernandez. Fernandez passed it back to the forward who sunk a layup to put his team up two. With the final possession, Eric Gordon got the ball, then dished it to Shaq. Shaq fumbled a pass attempt to Sessions, and Ricky Rubio dribbled the clock out to secure the win.

Jackson has a well-rounded game, filling up the stat line and shooting an efficient 10-14 FG. Anthony Randolph also had a solid game, with 18 points and 10 rebounds, but also had 6 assists and 3 blocks. Andris Biedrins also had a solid game, especially on the defensive end with 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Eric Gordon had a big game with 26, getting to the line with ease. Sessions and Andrei Kirilenko also put up solid lines. The Clippers fell back to .500 and snapped their three game winning streak and put them a game behind the eighth place Nuggets and Mavericks. The Warriors meanwhile, moved up to sixth place, within a half game of the fifth place Kings.

LAC (26-26): 25 | 27 | 24 | 19 | 95
GSW (26-22): 38 | 24 | 17 | 18 | 97

Noteworthy Players:

Warriors:
Image Stephen Jackson: 22 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 10-14 FG, game winner
Anthony Randolph: 18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks
Andris Biedrins: 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 blocks

Great win Lamrock. (Y) Jackson was really nice.

So Gortat is back in Orlando? How did he end up at Houston in the first place?

Nash. :( Nice win Lam, that huge 1st quarter and Davis' injury really saved you in this one. :P Great write-up too, loved the last quarter summary.

thierryhenry50, Yeah, Jackson is great. Definitely not sending him to Charlotte in this one. Gortat was signed by the Rockets to the MLE in the offseason (Turkoglu accepted his option for the final year of his contract so the Magic couldn't afford to retain him. Gortat was unhappy to get so little play time, being Yao's backup. Now he gets to be Howard's!

Lightning Strike, Thanks man. I really want those Clippers to make the playoffs, but I couldn't help but laugh when Davis went down again. Appreciate the praise. Good to know that people read the recaps. You're off to a great start on these forums. Stick around. (Y)

Warriors Report: February 1-February 10, 2010

February 11, 2010, 12:21 AM - The Warriors have gone 3-2 thus far in February to keep them a game ahead of the ninth place Mavericks, and it looked like they may not be destined for the lottery after all. Despite quiet play from Anthony Morrow, Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez, the Warriors have looked strong thanks to the big 3 of Anthony Randolph, Steve Nash and Stephen Jackson. Jackson, responding perhaps to the all-star snub (though nobody really considered him to be even in the conversation), has posted averages of 22.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG and 4.8 APG this month, and has led the team in Nelliepoints. Nash has also been impressive, with all-star numbers of 17.8 PPG and 9.8 APG.

The Sacramento Kings have hit their stride, winning all five of their games this month, and now have a decent grasp on fifth place, and look to climb higher on the playoff ladder. Right now, it looks like the Warriors will be battling the Thunder, who leads the season series, for the sixth seed. However, the eighth and ninth place Nuggets and Mavericks are just a game behind, while the Clippers (who have gone 4-1), are only 1.5 games away. With the Blazers starting the month 4-1, and the Lakers 2-3, the defending champs could lose their first place position in the conference, which they have held nearly all season.

Phoenix 96 @ Golden State 102

February 2, 2010 - The Warriors opened up the month of February with what should have been a very easy home win. Playing a team that dealt the majority of their payroll for scrubs last month, at the Oracle no less, it should have been a wash. That was not the case. The Suns shocked the Warriors in the first half, taking a 52-40 lead, with Jason Richardson leading them with 23 points. Golden State regrouped in the third quarter and realized that they could double team Richardson without worrying about leaving other scoring threats open (as there are none). J-Rich still managed to finish with a season-high 42, but the Warriors turned it around quickly, and turned the 12 point deficit into a 5 point lead going into the fourth. The Warriors continued to outplay the Suns, and then cruise controlled the rest of the game.

Golden State 108 @ Los Angeles Clippers 121

February 5, 2010 - The division rival Clippers sought out to prove their legitimacy as threats with a big win over the Warriors. Point guards Ramon Sessions and Steve Nash dueled all night. While Nash managed to win the scoring battle handily 25-19, Sessions won the war, racking up a career-high 6 steals and more importantly, the win. The game was all Clippers from the start. Jumping out to a 33-25 first quarter lead, the game was played at a frantic place, and the Warriors couldn't keep up. The Clippers would use the win to get a game closer to leapfrogging the Warriors. However, it would be undone the following night.
Player Of The Game:Ramon Sessions (19 points, 15 assists, 6 steals) | Nelliepoints: 1. Nash (25/2/14); 2. Randolph (14/12/2); 3. Jackson (19/5/5)

Golden State 106 @ Indiana 110 (OT)

February 8, 2010 - The Warriors visited the Central Division-losing Indiana Pacers and the five thousand or so fans in attendance got quite a show. Greg Oden, who was acquired in a deal for franchise player Danny Granger, had a career night, scoring a career-high 33 points, to go with 18 rebounds. In addition, the Pacers picked up their first overtime victory of the year. It was close all game, with the Warriors holding a narrow 57-52 advantage at the half. Third quarter came and Oden started to get hot. Scoring 12 in the period, he abused Andris Biedrins in the paint, switching the momentum. Down 7 with four minutes to go, Stephen Jackson got the hot hand. Scoring 9 points, including the overtime-forcing shot, the swingman caused overtime. Unfortunately, the Pacers dominated overtime, outscoring the visitors 11-7 to pick up the win. Oden has been having an up-and-down career, but this game showed just how good the young old man could become.
Player Of The Game: Greg Oden (33 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks) | Nelliepoints: 1. Jackson (25/5/4); 2. Nash (17/2/9); 3. Randolph (13/10/5)
RECORD: 26-23

Golden State 94 @ Philadelphia 92

February 10, 2010 - Elton Brand is weak-sauce. The 80 million dollar man had a paltry 9 points and 6 rebounds (in 34 minutes on 3/11 from the field), but more importantly, he let a struggling ice-cold Anthony Randolph hit the world's easiest game-winner. In a battle of teams fighting for playoff spots, the Sixers let this one fall through their hands. Despite Meal Ticket's 10 point showing, and holding a 51-33 halftime lead, the 76ers found a way to lose. Stephen Jackson, the undeniable Warriors MVP for the month of February, had a fantastic third quarter, and the Warriors outscored the home team by 12. In the final period, Philadelphia locked down on D, but failed to score themselves. With 12 seconds to go, the game was tied, Golden State ball. Steve Nash attempted to get past Louis Williams and failed. He faked a pass to the double-teamed Jackson and dished it to Randolph. Brand attempted to react on D but it was too late: Anthony Randolph had sunk the game winner. Andre Iguodala airballed a half-court heave to end the game.
Player Of The Game: Stephen Jackson (29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) | Nelliepoints: 1. Jackson (29/7/4); 2. Nash (18/3/8); 3. Morrow (16/3/2)
