Unconfirmed reports came out of the recent game between the Seattle Stealth and Miami Heat that Seattle’s players were involved in a change room fracas. The team’s body language for much of the second half of a blowout loss to the Heat was so negative that it surely was not solely due to their getting their behinds kicked. It had to be something more that the team is denying.

Here is how the conspiracy theories have come to existence. As the Stealth walked off the court, they were down in the dumps but they were still at least walking off as a group. Half an hour later, Durant returned to the floor with a black eye. Jason Kidd was limping. Reshawn Tyson came out last and was accompanied by two of the team’s staff. The players on the bench did not talk; furthermore, the communication on the floor was non-existent. The team came back out, in the second half, as a completely different outfit.

What happened in that change room?

Seattle officials have refused to give an answer. No official comment has been woven out from any of the players or coaches. The only thing we can rely on is Michael Beasley’s claims that he heard a short exchange between Kevin Durant and Dwyane Wade after the game; implying that they were talking about a fistfight.

In an interview with media, Beasley said, “I heard D Wade asked what was up with Durant’s black eye. Durant said something about Reshawn Tyson then said he (Tyson) had better watch his back.” When Wade was asked about the alleged comments, the superstar brushed it off as a rumor. “I think Michael needs to get his hearing checked,” Wade laughed at the suggestion that a fight broke out at half time.

Kevin Durant left quickly after the loss to Miami. Jason Kidd was whisked away as well. Reshawn Tyson stayed at his locker but did not talk to media. Andrew Bogut seemed agitated but was ordered not to speak as well. The ever-jovial Rasheed Wallace was sent by the Stealth to conduct the post-game podium interview.

When questioned about what had happened at halftime Wallace said, “Well you know, coach was talking and talking and talking. Actually, I don’t know what happened. I fell asleep. No one wants to listen to George (Karl) talk back in the day.”

With all the denials of anything having happened, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to smell something fishy. The few months have seen word come out of the Seattle camp that discontent existed between their star player and their rising star. Durant and Tyson were portrayed to have a great relationship but this season has been an eye opener. And ever since Tyson was elevated to the starting shooting guard spot three weeks ago, discussion has heated up about Durant’s jealousy.

Perhaps that jealousy boiled over the other night in a frustrating loss to the best team in the Eastern Conference? Whatever happened in that change room, it looks like we will never know.

I do know one thing though. Locked in a tight playoff race, the last thing Seattle needed was a distraction and it looks like this distraction has just blown up in their faces.

Chapter 27

“What the…” Ty cursed, and then was lost for words.
Ty froze. The team trainer and assistant coach both turned around to see why Ty had stopped following them. They saw an man in his 40s there with the young Stealth player. Ty did not move, he just stood there still as a rock.
“Hey son,” the man addressed Ty.
Ty sounded irritable, “Don’t call me that.”
“Oh come on!” the man laughed, “Reshawn son, you can’t hold a grudge your whole life.”
Ty took a step towards his father, “You want to bet?”
His old man took two steps back, “I’m back son, and I’m here for you.”
“And what? Take my money for you addictions? What you on now? A gambling debt? Or is it drugs again?”
“No no,” the older Tyson stated, “I’m clean son. I cleaned up my act for you.”
Ty shouted, “That’s bullshit! Where were you when Tay was sick? Where the fuck were you when mom in hospital?”
“You told me to stay away!”
“You never even tried to be there! You didn’t make an effort!”
“I’m sorry!” his father exclaimed.
“Sorry does not fix anything!” Ty cut back at him, then clenched his right fist and pulled his arm in the air.
The assistant coach quickly stepped in between the two, “Ty, what’s wrong?”
“I’m his father.”
“You’re not my fucking father. I never had one my whole life!” Ty screamed back at him, tears starting to roll down his cheeks.
Security had stepped in at this point, “Sir, you’re not authorized to be here. This is a secure point.”
The older Tyson was pleading with Ty, “Son, forgive me.”
He was then led away by security and to his seat. The team trainer took Ty back to the change room to calm down. Ty walked in and threw his towel on the floor and sat down next to the locker. As the team trainer watched on, Ty buried his head in his own arms and started to break down.

“That’s what I’m talking about kid!” Rasheed Wallace had the widest grin as he bumped fists with Kevin Durant.
Durant had made a foray to the hoop and was fouled on his way up. The ball gently rolled on the rim then through it. Good for two points and another free throw as Lamar Odom was called for the foul. Sheed was having a ball out on the court.
“Lamar, you’re being soft again,” Sheed yelled over at Odom as Durant lined up at the charity stripe, “You’re letting Kevin score on your ass. Play some defense man! Or are you getting too old?”
Odom continued chewing on his gum and glared at Sheed. Sheed flashed a huge grin towards Odom as Durant took the free throw. It was a swish and the Stealth returned to set up their defense on the other end. Ty sat quietly on the Stealth bench. He’d been having a bad game and looked out of sorts. George Karl did not know why.
“Ty, are you alright son?” Karl asked him.
Ty nodded, “Yes sir.”
“Get your head back in the game!”
Ty pouted and got up, “Yes sir.”
Karl quickly scanned the court, “Go on for Bassy.”
Ty pulled off his jacket and threw on the bench and jogged up to halfway. The whistle blew as Durant was called for a foul. Ty ran onto the court as Bassy came off. On the next play, Ty hit a long two. A few minutes he would have a rim rocking dunk. As he backpedaled back down the floor, the Stealth bench was cheering noisily but he looked emotionless. The euphoria of such a big play would usually have him bouncing up and down and in anticipation of the next time he would touch the ball. Tonight though, he was feeling numb and powerless as an old part of his life that he did not want to revisit was back.

“No!” Mrs Tyson shouted.
Her husband was drunk again and this time trying to grab a necklace he had given her years prior. He needed to take it to the pawn store. He really wanted to smoke but did not have money. He was desperate.
“No! Don’t take it!”
He hit her. She shrieked in pain. Mrs Tyson hit the floor hard. She had a cut on the side of her face. She shook uncontrollably on the ground as he stood over her, necklace in hand. She cried. He left.
“Mom…” eleven year old Ty had come out of hiding, he was in his room.
Recognizing that he needed to stop her wound from bleeding, Ty ran to the bathroom and grabbed toilet paper and bandages. He used the paper to wipe the blood off her face and gently laid the bandage across the cut. They were lucky it wasn’t deep. She sat up and tenderly felt the side of her son’s face, tears rolling down her cheeks. Ty was crying too; he hated seeing her in pain.
“Mom…” Ty could not even think of what to say, “Mom…”
She hugged him then held him close. Mother and son sat in the living room. The silence was peaceful yet terrifying; they did not know when Ty’s father would return.
Later that night, Mrs Tyson tucked Ty in bed, “Promise.”
Ty hated promising to lie but he did, “I won’t tell anyone at school about this.”
Mrs Tyson smiled and kissed him on the cheek, “Good. Your dad’s a good man Ty.”
She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.

The atmosphere at trainings was much more light-hearted after the addition of Rasheed Wallace. Sheed was mumbling something to the guys as they sat together at the side of the court after a scrimmage.
“You know, when I was your age man,” Sheed bumbled on and on, speaking to no one in particular, “I was touching the top of that backboard. And I was schooling Scottie Pippen. You heard right, I was schooling Pippen.”
Kidd interjected, “Was this Pippen with the Bulls or was this when you guys were on the same team?”
“This was when he was with Portland boy,” Sheed then chuckled, “Yeah, I was schooling him all day long.”
Bogut laughed, “Wasn’t he like 35 or something back then?”
Sheed shot Bogut an angry look, “What are you saying boy?”
“He was 35. It’s like you taking on Kevin right now,” Bogut stated, “Don’t tell me Kevin couldn’t jump over you right now. You’d have no chance against him.”
Durant looked over and shouted, “I’m going to play your ass out of this gym Sheed.”
Sheed defended himself, “Oh yeah? You want to take me on right now? One on one boy.”
Durant got up, “Would be glad to!”
“But wait, let me finish the story.”
Durant sat down again and the others listened in, “I didn’t know what age he was back then but I schooled one of the top 50 guys in NBA history. That’s what I’m talking about. Tell me since when did one of you guys played and schooled one of the top 50?”
“Jason took on Shaq,” Trevor Ariza pointed out.
“Yeah,” Sheed replied, “And got dunked on like every play!”
Kidd retorted, “I didn’t get dunked on.”
“Pippen was 35!” Bogut yelled; some of the guys started a debate on how old Pippen would have been.
“See, none of you have!” Sheed triumphantly stated.
“What’s your point?” the injured Raja Bell asked.
“My point is,” Sheed thought for a moment, “If you want to be the best, you got to beat the best. So that means, since I beat Pippen and I beat him every day, I am a top 50 player.”
Everyone laughed.
“What?” Sheed asked.
“Dude, you beat an old guy who probably couldn’t even run,” Bogut laughed even harder, “That doesn’t make you a top 50 player!”
Sheed said, “Hey man, you can hate but if you want to be top 50, then you got to beat me.”
“I will take you on,” Bogut accepted the challenge.
“Hey, I was first!” Durant quipped.
Sheed got up, “But not today boys, Mr Top 50 has got to go get some rest for the game tomorrow.”
“Mr Top 50 doesn’t even start games around here,” Chris Wilcox called out, high fiving Ariza and DJ White.
Sheed walked towards the exit of the gym and turned around, “Y’all can hate but it’s only because I am Mr Top 50!”
Sheed flexed his biceps and nodded his head before walking out the door.
Bassy turned to Kidd and said, “He’s really wack ain’t he?”
Kidd was still laughing, “He’s been watching too much Moses Chara.”

The end of February came around quickly and the Stealth found them on a six game winning streak. With six weeks left, they were clinging onto hope that their form would help them get into the playoffs.
“A playoff seed was not even considered doable two months ago,” Sit said to Karl at halftime of the Seattle-Miami game, “George, I’m very proud of what you have done with this team.”
Karl acknowledged Sit’s kind words but was not in the mood to talk. He headed into the change room to join his team. Miami, first place in the Eastern Conference, had a 20 point lead on Seattle. Sit slipped into the room to see what Coach Karl had to say to his players. The players all had their heads down and Karl was in the middle of the room.
“What do you call this?” Karl questioned, “Do you call this basketball?”
Durant spoke up, “If you let me do my thing, we would be up by now!”
His teammates glanced at each other; some of them had had enough of Durant.
“Kevin,” Karl challenged his star player, “For once, please shut up!”
“Old man, don’t tell me to shut up!” Durant jumped up with both fists clenched.
Kidd quickly got up and jumped in front of Durant, “Hey, calm down!”
Karl was fuming, “Boy! You sit your ass back down. Do you want to be benched again?”
Durant was swearing and pointing at Karl in a menacing manner, “Bench me? Bench me? You kidding me?”
Then it was DJ White’s turn, the young big man stood up and defended his coach, “Kevin dude, shut up for once! Coach is doing his job!”
Andrew Bogut threw his cup on the ground, “Kevin’s right, Tyson is shooting us out of this game. You see those stupid layups he puts up? For once man, take a fucking proper shot or pass the ball!”
White quickly turned to face Bogut, “Stay out of this!”
Bogut shoved White and White did the same back. Chris Wilcox, Trevor Ariza, and Rocky Akonnor pulled the pair apart. By now, another melee was starting on the other side of the change room.
“You want to bench me huh?” Durant was shouting at the top of his lungs, “You got to take me out first!”
Durant pushed Kidd out of the way, Kidd fell awkwardly and twisted his ankle. The veteran was holding onto his ankle in pain. Durant lunged at Karl before Reshawn Tyson jumped in the way and threw a punch in Durant’s face. Durant then returned the favor. In all the commotion, Sit was still standing in the doorway; shocked. Everything had happened so fast and now Durant and Ty were wound up in another fistfight. White was being restrained by Akonnor and Wilcox but Bogut got himself loose and charged at Ty, tackling him onto the ground. It was a fiasco as the assistant coaches and player staff tried to pull everyone away from each other. George Karl shook his head and was led away by two of his staff members as Sit looked on.
“Oh man, you’re as good as gone!” Durant threatened Ty as the two were being pulled away from each other.
Ty was cursing at Durant. One of the team trainers walked through the door, followed by Sheed. Sheed was standing in the doorway with his drink bottle in his hand, he sipped water out of a straw. He looked to see both sides of the change room divided.
“Mr Top 50 is in the house!” Sheed announced.
He sat down in Karl’s chair in the middle of the room.
“What happened here? A fight or something?” he chuckled to himself, absolutely clueless, as he kept sipping from his bottle.
He then looked at Durant who had a swollen black eye and Tyson who was shaking his head and walking in circles. He then looked at Kidd who was nursing his ankle. The room was silent.
“Oh, this is awkward.”

After reading the first and last 3 pages of your thread, I decided just to join up to tell you that I'm going to stick around to read the updates!

Of course, I'm sure there are many other great association stories on this board too, but I don't have the time to read them tonight, plus as someone else has already recommended, I'll try to read this from page 1.

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part One of the Monthly Recap provides the league standings and player statistics; divided into the two conferences. It also features the Seattle Stealth’s’ team report and results of games played in the last month. Part Two will feature news, player awards, and transactions.

Team Report

Seattle had a great February; their success setting them up with a shot at making it into the NBA postseason. Going 9-4 helped them improve their overall record for the season to 30-29 and the first time that the side has been over .500. A six game winning streak was snapped at the very end of the month in an ugly loss to Miami but the team is looking like the hottest in the NBA at the moment.

Seattle made a big deal for Rasheed Wallace in the second week of the month. Sheed’s addition gives the second unit a leader and the team a centre who can open up the floor with his shooting. Sheed came at the expense of Jeff Green; a sign that the Stealth look like they want to win now instead of waiting for their young prospects develop. Since a mediocre debut, Wallace has managed to score in double digits from off the bench in the rest of the games since.

Second year SG Reshawn Tyson was promoted to the starting five and that has proved to be a good move by Head Coach George Karl as the second year player has scored 20+ points in five of his past eight outings. The team’s spirits were high after Kevin Durant got his first ever All-Star game start while Andrew Bogut got a call up to the West’s bench.

It wasn’t all good news for Seattle as the team lost Raja Bell to a strained Achilles injury. That has him out of the team for up to a month. The veteran SG was expected to combine with Wallace to form a potent scoring duo to come off the bench for Seattle; experience and talent from off the bench never having been a luxury for Seattle.

Damn the East is weak. You're looking pretty good now, and should be able to get a playoff spot. Here's hoping Portland stays in first place. Interesting seeing the Heat with the best record. I remember them losing a lot of their best players in the offseason a (game) year or two back. Who do they have now?

One small thing: the efficiency rating in 2K9 is not PER, it is NBA.com's stupid one. 2K10 has PER though. Really wish I knew how to calculate it for my dynasty. Keep it coming
