My d-league player is a 6'6 SG scorer. Kinda light coz he's only 185 lbs, but he's the Dakota Wizards leading scorer with 18ppg lol. Sometimes he gets assigned to be a small forward. Still haven't learned dunking though, and the 5 minute per quarter limits his potential heh

I got picked up by the thunder after doing a good job in everything prior. I made the Pacers but they made me go d-league because they already had 3 guards. Then I played for the MAD Antz, we went 5-2 then the Thunder sign me to a ten day agreement. Mind you, I'm only 47 rating!! I think you gotta be a leader and win because a lot of my friends who got it saying they still haven't got picked up by a team. I think thats because they are losing and not truely taking over the game.

I scored 19 points and 6 assist in my NBA debut, its thunder for now.....I would like to be on the pacers though!!

Do you thing 2ksports will fix quarter's lenght?
I am in DL, and starting from the bench is very hard to try to get a good rating (B or A) playing only 10 min in total.
It will be amazing if we can set quart's length..

So I did two games of the Summer Circuit with my player on the Kings and I totally sucked. D+ and C. No skill points earned so far. I have so much problems without the defensive assistant but I dont want to turn it on because it also drives me mad at times. I just have to learn playing this game I guess.

I'm thinking about Brad Louhas 2.0.

Maybe a Ben Wallace type.

Can't get on board the guard train like 90% of people here and elsewhere seem to be. I'd get bored on defense.

Sorry but if you think defense on the perimeter is 'boring' you're not trying hard enough mate. Blocks are one thing, but shutting down passing lanes, denying play routes, and picking off passes are every bit as intricate as swatting guards as they attempt to drive to the hole... but that may just be me

That's what I was trying to do at first. Creating a 19 year-old Matt Bullard clone, with a view to turning him into Dirk Nowitzki by his 28th birthday. They're fine when they have an open jumper, but they don't have the athleticism to get open. I'm still plugging away with the Iowa Energy, but have also transferred my attention to Freddie Whitney.

Whitney is a 6'10 261 lb Centre from Yale. Born to the second greatest Irish basketball player ever to play the game (after Pat Burke). He went through a rebellious phase during College. There were some accusations of recreational drug use that dogged his collegiate career which led to him being largely by NBA GMs during the draft. He latched onto the Clippers Summer Circuit team, where he shared large amounts of court time with number 1 pick, Blake Griffin. Whitney's unique hairstyle, tattoos and boundless energy made him a quick fan favourite, but the Clips did not require his services for training camp.

But he had suitably impressed Mike D'Antoni, Donnie Walsh and the Knicks' staff and landed a spot with the Knicks' training camp, where he was able to out-last former lottery picks, Chris Mihm and Danilo Gallinari.

But after 5 games, his training camp experience was over, and he was on his way to the NBDL's Sioux Falls Skyforce. He's 3 games in, averaging 6 ppg, 5 rpg, 1.7 blocks and shooting a staggering 74% from the field. While an NBA debut doesn't seem to be in his immediate future, he is well on his way to becoming one of the most dynamic 6th men in the D-League.

The Athletic players are a lot more fun to work with. It actually makes the drills a lot easier to complete. In particular, the Challenge shot, Attack Basket, Rebounding and Dribble Course Gold Levels are much easier to achieve when you have the advantage of Speed and Strength.

I'm a 6'1" PG, rated at forty-something to start, now I am a 57. I got cut from the Indiana Pacers's training camp after being undrafted, then played about 12 games in the D-League. After that, I signed a 10-day contract with the heat. Ironically, my first game was against the Pacers, and I got Player of the Game with 11 points, 7 assists, a steal, and a few rebounds. I started over Chalmers and Quinn as well, although it didn't seem like the rotation reflected that when I checked before the game.

I'm playing an all-around skilled 6'2" point guard. I didn't make it with the Suns after the summer circuit, and was absolutely abused by Mo Williams (Mo Williams!) in my one training camp game with the Cavs, so it was off to the D-League for me. I'm rated but a 44 right now; I'm working on my shooting and consistency skills at the moment, with some points going into my defensive skills. I'm currently coming off the bench for the Reno Bighorns (who I keep accidentally calling the Little Bighorns), with no shot at the NBA in sight. I'm averaging a teammate rating of B in the last three games, but I'm struggling with some of my in-game goals (like getting turnovers or drawing fouls). I'm a good playmaker and I don't commit allot of turnovers. I'm better at drive-and-kick plays then running it from the top of the key, because I can usually get in the paint with little trouble, and the AI's not smart enough to stick to our shooters. But... my shooters suck. My big men suck. My whole team - save for me - could be shut down on offense by putting five traffic cones on the court. Seriously. Anywhere on the court, too. In the paint, on the perimeter, stacked in the corner, wherever. If they were football players, they'd get tackled by the yard lines. On defense, they're about as effective and mobile as traffic cones. Someone get me out of Reno... please...

Nothing to do with trying. I like in real life, get bored with it very quickly in video games, capisce?

Others have mentioned how important athleticism is, so I may just try to make a more athletic big man and develop the shooting over time. Maybe something along the lines of a taller Sam Perkins who slowly evolved into a spot up three point shooter. Don't know, I'll see for sure once the game finishes downloading.

So I ended the Summer Circuit. i really played well in the last games had about 9/5/5 on a decent shooting. Av. Grade B. Still the Kings did not want me :(
Now I am playing for the Bakersfield Jam. How attractive is that. I saw 9 minutes of PT in the first game and jacked up shots out of frustration as well as fouled way too often.
Ended up with a D+ and 9 points and 4 fouls ^^

Ok so I just tried to play a pick-up game in my player mode, but it keeps lagging out... there was a guy with a 78 rating lol thats crazy..

I'm now in my 12th game with the heat, complementing dwade really well i would say, averaging 7pts, 2 reb, 8ast a game in 16mins per game.

Really enjoying this game mode, if any of you guys want to make a crew with our guys (only if you are from Australia region) then let me know.

Its now five games in a row that I've had A games and dropped 20+ and no call-up. This is some fucked up shit right here. Am I really going to play the final 21 games of the season so I can get a second shot at summer camp?!

EDIT: The game randomly wiped my progress in the last 4 games, conveniently ones where I averaged 30 PPG and got all A+'s. Fun.

Re: Your Player

Postby Gedas on Wed Oct 14, 2009 5:57 am

Well, I created a 6,2 all-around point guard, started off kind of slow, finished the summer circuit decently enough and decided to go to the Sacramento Kings training camp, since they have probably the weakest point guards. Managed to fight through the first four games, but got cut off in the final one. Then I got picked up by the Iowa Energy and after averaging something like ~8 points, 7 assists and a steal I suddengly got a ten day contract with the Celtics, which was just great. What I didn't like, from a standpoint of realism, is the fact that I got plenty of playing time. Soon after getting picked I used the tool to fix the quarter lenght to 8 minutes and have averaged 12 points and 5 assists. My current overall is 50, so it's kind of strange to play so much. I'm thinking of changing the level to Superstar or Hall Of Fame to make it more challenging.

All in all, a great new experience with NBA 2k, looking forward to the online issue solving.

6-9, 215 lbs PF, Amir Johnson type athletic player, trying to do more on the defensive end but have to improve ratings first. Avg 7 ppg, 7 rb, 2 ast per game through the first five summer circuit games with the Celtics. I plan on making him one of the elite defensive players in the league.

Oh, god damnit. It sounds like I'm following in your footsteps, Lamrock.

I'm a 6'7" all around shooting guard. Started off in the Knicks' camp, failed. Went to the Magic's camp (probably a bade choice of team, given my player info') failed.

Now I'm on the Mad Ants. Here's my player information now.

14.5mpg (4), 9.7ppg (2), 4.3rpg (3), 2.2apg (2), 1.1spg (1).

()'s representing where I place on the team.

I'm now 10 games in, I have yet to start. My team is 9-1 and my overall is 54.

I actually came here to see if this mode lead to anywhere or if it was just a never ending grindfest.
I guess I'll keep playing it now that I know some of you have moved further into the feature.

EDIT: Forgot, A- average for teamplay.

EDIT2: After I think my 12th D-League game I got a 10day from the 76ers. : )

Fuck this piece of shit mode. 40 point game, A+ teamwork, game freezes. 28 D-League games in, where its gotten to the point where I always put up at least 30 points and an A+ every game, but no reward. But its not 28 games, its 33 - 5 of those snore-fests were lost due to lack of play testing. They make the mode inconsistent so that some players get to enjoy the mode, and others don't. I'm sure my fate is to tough out the final 20 D-League games and hope I get picked for a training camp, but based on what I've seen so far, I will probably fall victim to a game-ending bug, or snap the disc in half before I get there.

Granted, I'm still addicted to the mode. It just sucks they took a great premise and decided to fuck the player over by leaving it unfinished and unfair. They sacrificed realism for fun factor when they made the quarters 5 minutes, but sacrificed fun factor for realism by making the game torturous in its later stages.

My player is rated 60, I play with Denver, I go for 20 pts,6 rebonds and 6 assists with 1 steal per game. My best game is 39 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 block shots, A+ rank of course, it gave more than 2000 skill points !!

I Increase stamina, vertical jump and regularity to 99, that's pretty easier for fastbreak, rebound etc... !! :cheeky: :cheeky:

First of all, this game mode is just amazing !!! (Y) I been dreaming of something like this and it finally came true !
I went ahead and created my real-life self :D 5'8" all-arround PG :P
As you can imagine, training camp with the Heat didn't go so well( rated 39) so I went to play for the Albuquerque T-Birds in the D-League. After 28 games my rating went up to 51. I'm a decent defender, good passer and a consistent mid-range shooter. Still coming off the bench but i play more minutes than the starting PG :P . I wouldn't mind playing an entire season in the D-League because it's fun and i can boost my stats so that I don't embarrass myself again in Camp :P
