Regrets?

Postby Doobie on Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:31 pm

Do any of you fellas live with regrets in your life?? If you can go back would you change anything?

My regrets are more of 'what I didn't do' than 'what I did wrong'. I regret NOT trying out for the basketball team my sophomore year, which was the peak of my greatness in basketball. Later that year I broke my wrist and that's when the weight gain happened. I regret NOT doing something with my life right after high school, cause now I'm stuck at this point in my life where I have no clue what's going on. Most likely technical school now. I regret being a vagina in high school, and not getting laid as much as I should've, simply cause of my beliefs of "only having sex with girlfriends." I could've been at like 6-7 girls by now but cause of my rule from before, I'm at 3.

So, do you guys regret anything?

I regret not spending more time with my mom. That's my biggest regret.

Didn't apply to enough colleges and got stuck at one where 99% of the students fit into at least one of three or four stereotypes whereas I fit zero of them.

I regret that I didn't enjoy my high school years. Wasn't really outgoing during the first year mostly because I broke my ankle (trying to dunk, which i couldn't do back then and landed hard on asphalt). So I had a "bad start" and the only friends I had were the ones that I knew before.. So I was only hanging out with them for the rest of the time.

Oh, well. I'm going to a college now so I hope I can start everything all over again.

I probably wouldn't change anything significant. I've wondered about that in the past but my current perspective is that I haven't backed myself into a corner with decisions I've made in the past, so what's happened is behind me and won't hold me back or weigh me down. I suppose there are situations I look back on and wish I'd handled them differently but in many cases I didn't have the maturity or perspective to do so at the time, so I'm not going to beat myself up about them. I think you've just got to treat those things as a learning experience and move on.

I made a couple of mistakes in my previous relationship. I'm in a new one but it's just not the same. I still miss my ex, so yeah, I kinda regret those mistakes I made back then.

I regret not growing up fast enough.

If I had been older faster, I could've studied faster, I could've earned faster and I wouldn't have had to leave to where-ever my dumbass dad dragged our asses to whenever his bi-polar depression kicked up.

I would've been able to spend more time with a real father figure in my Grandfather...and could've learned so much more from him. Instead I took years to reform myself to a glass half full person instead of just being that kind of kid from the get go.

I regret the things I've seen in the short span of my life and to some extent whish I was older to intervene in some way. In other aspects, I'm grateful for everything that's happened. From the drugs, alcohol to the abuse...it's made me who I am today and I wouldn't be where I am today if not for those life-altering factors.

So what do I regret? Just not having enough time with my grandfather, that's all. I had years, I wanted more.

I regret not committing to basketball on day-to-day basis. I haven't played organized 5-on-5 in about 4-5 months.

I regret letting a bad hernia take the best of me for the last several years, not really wanting to keep it from getting worse with frequent exercise and such. I finally started working out again, almost everyday, and I feel pretty damn good now. I still have to live with this shit everyday since there's apparently no surgery for my case, but at least I can feel a tad better physically and mentally now.

I regret never trying contacts when I was much younger. Now I've had fucking glasses for 20 years and there's probably no way I could ever get used to contacts at my age. Hopefully, a surgery could maybe solve that dilemma at some point...

While it allowed me to be an exchange student, get a MBA, meet my wife, and be where I am today, I kinda regret getting into the whole business school thing without really questioning myself first, wondering if I could ever enjoy doing the kind of work that may come with such a degree (or not come at all for that matter...).

there's a lot of what i should have done better...starting in school, or better said gymnasium (I#m from germany, but my origins are in lithuania, THE basketball country ^^), i was not the type of guy who went a lot to parties or met friends in general, thats why i had and still have my first girlfriend, whats not that bad....what i regret most is, that i broke my leg real hard a basktball practice.....the reslt was that i had 7 surgeries, and on one of them my nerves in the leg got cut, so i hardly can feel anything on some places of my leg and foot...after that i couldnt walk on my own abou a year....took rehab.....the leg gets pretty fast tired and the movement of my foot is 15 degree less than normal....so i had to quit basketballl, and i was reall goood at it..i was playing ball since 2000.....its sad because i had a perspective to do sth. with basketball in my life, basketball was before this accident the only thing in my life that was important for my, the only thing where i was confident....i didnt go out at parties....havent drunk alcohol or smoking cigarettes.... i was just playong ball nearly every day for hours.......

......and now Im studying german studies, english studies, and religioius studies (i don't know whats the real terminology of that  ) and enjoying basketball in any form: playing, waching, reading and so on

Probably not being more active (in clubs and sports) during high school and not apply to more West coast schools and not wasted my time applying to Ivy league schools that in the end I couldn't even pay for when I got in. Also probably regret choosing CmpSci as a major cause a different major like Accounting (what I'm doing now) or whatever could have affected too which schools I was accepted to.

Also regret pledging fraternity during my Junior year, was one of most crucial years and pledging royally screwed shit up. Should have done it during Spring of Freshman year when I had the most time and easiest classes.

I've had glasses for like 7, 8 years now, since I was about 8 or 9. I've been using contacts for about 2 years now and I pop them in practically every time I go out of the house. I don't think getting used to it has to do something with your age, the first times trying to put them in are horrible though. You'll see yourself sitting in front of the mirror for a quarter of an hour easily.
If you really don't like your glasses I think you should hive contacs another go. The cool thing is that, if you get One-Day-Contacts (Sorry, that's probably a bad translation, but I've no idea what they're called in English) you can throw them away any time you want, put your glasses back on and don't have to worry about cleaning them or any of that shit.

2T, I regret not being as committed to basketball as I could be. Because now is the time I still have the time to go out and play regularly, after getting out of school and living on my own it's going to be alot harder I could imagine.
That, and being such a pussy around girls most of the time.
