Indeed, thing is there's this urge in me to leave the company after staying there for seven years.

(five years as student and two years as instructor)

What song did they make you sing?

You can always refuse your professors' requests. Now all you need to do if they blackmail you, is to tell them that "requesting students to sing, or forcing them to perform in front of class is not part of their job description unless you are a music instructor."

Sing out of tune, incredibly obnoxious and loud. Extend those out of tune notes and dry hump the teachers desk. Walk out of the classroom singing, down the hall and back again, running into the room. Then walk back to your desk and pretend it didn't even happen.

Anyway....

Both jobs I've had in my field requires me to, in some way or another, to tell someone with 40 years experience how to properly due their job. Either with new techniques, or because they've gotten all Alzheimy on me and forgot how to do simple things.

For instance, today, we got back pipe descriptions for a schematic I'm doing for a town. Poor bastard only labeled ~25% of the pipes and used random ass abbreviations that didn't even make sense to my bosses. So I got to ship it back to him with a check list for the 36 fucking 3 foot by 2 foot blueprints today. I fucking feel horrible calling out an old guy like this, but maybe that town shouldn't have some 85 year old half retired fire chief be the only person who knows where fire hydrants are in the town.

And in my last job, during my first month, when I was 19, I had to tell someone with 45 years experience that the asphalt they were making was shitty. That was real fun since my boss wouldn't step in and told me that I had to learn to control him since I am right and he was wrong.

Nah, nothing violent. But something that adequately expresses your displeasure and ensures that while you may be gone from the job, you certainly won't be forgotten.

Showing them the goods by running around the office naked and farting in the face of your superiors.
Make sure you eat a lot of beans, milk, and eggs on that memorable day.

There you have it, Lean. You now know what you must do.

To let off some steam of my own, my Xbox 360 finally went belly-up yesterday. Out of warranty with EB Games, of course, and for some reason it wouldn't let me register it on the Microsoft website. So, I just bit the bullet and picked up a new Arcade (they offered me $20 trade-in on my busted 360) and swapped my HD over so I'm back up and running. It was only a matter of time. Meanwhile, my old NES, SNES and N64 still work perfectly. So does my PS2, but that too was a replacement back in the day after the drive on the original packed it in not too long after the warranty expired.
