Re: [A Legend Is Born II] - 2010-11 Season Preview

I'd rather start Wilcox over Magloire... With a guard like Kidd running the Sonics I think Wilcox could play the 5 pretty effectively. It looks like your frontcourt could use some beefing up, although you do have a lot of offensive firepower coming off the bench which is always a plus.

I think your roster looks quite good as it stands with one exception at the C spot. Still I dont see an improvement over last year which means that you really rely on your youngsters to improve their game. Although Lee can grab the boards I think you need a better big man than Magloire. He's simply old, slow and even not the biggest guy at 6-11. I'd love to see someone like Przbylla .. a defensive minded center. Adonal Foyle is not really what I expected though. I guess you signed him because of his character and leadership he brings to the team :) That is the only reason why this guy played in the NBA the last couple of years.

And did you sign your rookie. What type of guy is he?

Keep it up, good work. (Y)

This doesn't look like a playoff-team. I'd start Wilcox over Magloire, but more then that you need a better C.

The story so far

Stealth Select Robin Ross In Second Round

June 28, 2010

NEW YORK (AP) – The Seattle Stealth used their lone draft pick on University of Connecticut SG Robin Ross. The 6’7” 214 lbs guard is 21 years old and was a key contributor for UConn in their run to the NCAA title. Ross played at the off-guard next to PG Ray Lliach who was drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers. Ross was the 33rd selection of the NBA Draft.

Ross was the best prospect on the board when Seattle was called upon to select their rookie. The Stealth had been vigorously pursuing him during the off-season and ran a number of workouts for him. Ross impressed scouts with his ball handling, passing, and mid range jump shot.

“He’s young and has just won the NCAA title with UConn,” GM Will Sit said, “It’s great to add another college winner to our roster.” Seattle’s Reshawn Tyson and Rocky Akonnor both won a NCAA title with North Carolina in 2008. Sit also suggested some areas the rookie SG would have to work on to compete in the NBA, “I think he needs to work on his three point shot as well as becoming physically stronger.”

The Stealth now has two shooting guards on their roster in Tyson and Ross. The team also has a plethora of small forwards.

Ariza, Morrison, Telfair Glad To Be Back

July 5, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – Mid-season signing Trevor Ariza was rewarded for his hustle and improved three point stroke with a new contract from the Seattle Stealth. Ariza may have a bigger role in the upcoming season but that is not guaranteed as the Stealth has so many players at his position. Ariza’s athleticism and man on man defensive ability drew plenty of praise from the Stealth coaching staff.

SF Adam Morrison was also re-signed after a rough season in which he started off asking for a trade despite being a starter. Ironically, Morrison was glued to the bench after a spate of injuries but settled into his role and actively sought for a contract extension. Morrison’s shining moment came in Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals in which he came up with the game winning shot and steal.

PG Sebastian Telfair showed enough promise as a backup to the aging Jason Kidd. His speed and ball handling skills wowed Seattle’s fans all season long as he quickly became a fan favorite. Telfair has improved a lot since being traded to Seattle and there is still hope in the Seattle camp that he will one day mature into a solid starting NBA PG.

Raja Bell, Adonal Foyle Join Seattle

July 5, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – 33 year old SG Raja Bell signed with the Seattle Stealth for 3 years on the mid-level exception. A 6’5” 215 lbs defensive minded guard; Bell has played 11 years in the league despite being undrafted. The former Florida International product caught the attention of Seattle GM Will Sit because of his shooting and defensive ability.

Seattle passed up on an opportunity to sign Joe Johnson because it would have ‘glutted their roster’. There were rumors that Seattle was going to sign Larry Hughes and the team was close but knocked back Hughes at the last minute.

“We are very happy about the signing of Raja,” GM Sit stated, “I hope that he will give us a consistent second option on offence. Our team needs someone who can spread the floor and make more space for guys like Kevin (Durant), Jeff (Green), and David (Lee) to work with.”

Bell averaged 14.0 ppg for New York last year and also shot a .457 from behind the arc. He has a career average of 10.8 ppg.

Seattle also signed Adonal Foyle to the league minimum. 35 year old Foyle was the eighth overall pick in the 1997 Draft and came highly recommended to the Stealth as a positive locker room influence. The 6’10” 270 lbs PF, who played collegiate ball at Colgate, has played 14 years in the NBA and is mexpected to be a mentor to 7’3” Seattle centre Rocky Akonnor.

Nice signings of Bell and Foyle, though losing Miller is still a hole to be filled...also, what do you mean by "gald"? hehe...great offseason so far for the Stealth! (Y)

Valor, I am looking at a few guys. Some players who may be possible trade targets include: expiring contracts like Kenyon Martin, Zach Randolph, and disgruntled Chris Bosh. However, can't do a deal because I don't have anyone I am willing to give up and it's hard to match the huge contracts.

newc, I selected a new SG because I did not have Bell at the time and was not expecting to get him. I actually wanted to sign a big man but Jermaine O'Neal wanted more than the midlevel exception...

X, my roster is the same as last season's except I have Bell instead of Miller. I think my side can just get into the playoffs. As for David Lee and Green starting, I don't think I will put Green at PF. We will see. That's actually a good idea though! I will try it out in the season.

Lamrock, I am very desperately hoping that Magloire delivers. I just want him to score close to double digits and pull down a few boards. His rating is the same as Miller's so I am hoping that he delivers. His averages are shit because Miller hogged all of the minutes at C last season. And thanks man, I am hoping that you are realy enjoying the read! :)

homicide, I got Bell. He's gonna make a huge difference. I love playing with him! He's a great shooter. Kidd is hard to use in the game, Durant is pretty freaking awesome. Durant could average 35 ppg one day... That's how good he is. My side was in the Top 4 last season so don't see why we can't be there again or just a bit under...

Its_asdf, we're the STEALTH! Not Sonics!!! :P

Hova, Yeah, my team does need a stronger starter at C but I will give Magloire a shot.

Martti., man as I said, don't know why everyone is hating on my team. It's the same as the one that went to the playoffs except Miller is gone and I have Bell at SG instead...

kaiser, Thanks man! And corrected the typo!

I would also start Wilcox, he is one of my favs... not liking Magloire...

well i remember that Foyle was even worse thand Biedrins in his first season, when he had like 2ppg and 2rpg, but for a mentor for Rocky he could be good.

Seattle Stealth Impressive In First Preseason Game

Preview | Box Score | Recap

Image
Reshawn Tyson Dunks Over Caron Butler and LaMarcus Aldridge

15 Oct, 2010

WASHINGTON (AP) – Veteran SG Raja Bell made a stunning debut for the Seattle Stealth in his team’s first pre-season hit out. Bell was 7 for 9 from the field and hit 3 three pointers over the course of the game. Bell top scored for the Stealth with 18 points. Kevin Durant showed no signs of the troubling leg injuries that slowed him down in the 2010 playoffs and filled up the box score. Durant finished with a personal tally of 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks.

The Washington Wizards have been the talk of the League all off-season since the signing of PF LaMarcus Aldridge. With Aldridge starting alongside Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler, Gilbert Arenas, and promising young PG Klemen Pirc; many NBA experts have labeled the Wizards as dangerous and true Eastern Conference contenders.

It was unfortunate the Wizards just did not live up to that opinion last night as they were thoroughly outplayed from the start of the game. A 12-2 run from Seattle, capped by back to back treys from Bell, saw Washington fall behind early. Bell and Durant formed an impressive partnership in the first quarter deferring to each other selflessly. Durant had nothing but kind words for his new partner on the wing, “In my few years here in Seattle, we’ve never really had a good 2-guard but now that we have Raja, I am very happy. The shooting guard position is in great hands.”

Bell returned the praises, “Kevin is an amazing player. He’s the best scorer in the NBA and now that I am here to help him and Jason (Kidd), I believe that we have a strong team moving forward.” Team captain Jason Kidd also stated how impressed he was with the new-look Seattle side, “The front office has done a really good job of picking up Raja Bell. He’s a hard-nosed defender and a great shooter. He is what we have needed for a long time.”

Washington did not back down and stayed close with their opponents for the game thanks to great shooting from behind the arc. However, Seattle never looked threatened as they kept keeping their lead in double digits. Gilbert Arenas was Washington’s best player and single handily kept his team in the match with his 25 points.

Notes: Washington had 15 three point shots, in contrast to Seattle’s 4… Reshawn Tyson had 9 fourth quarter points… Bell made the crowd groan as he hit a three pointer at the buzzer in the third period…

Durant filled up the stat line and won player of the game with 10 points? :? Congrats on the preseason win. The Wizards never fail to disappoint.

After looking through the last couple of updates, I gotta say that was one crazy offseason in the NBA! You really need a better center... unless you can get Magloire to play like he did from 03-06. Other than that, the team isn't looking too shabby. I'm looking forward to the start of the season!
Sit wrote:Game 5: B1 United States v D4 Philippines – The United States were never going to lose this one as players for the Philippines asked their opponents to sign their jerseys and shoes before and after the game.

Haha, I could see this happening in real life too!

Aldridge with only 2 points ... thats whack. I guess that was an easy slowly paced game with your team having the better end. Magloire showed some scoring touch with 10 but that does not say anything. I want Jeff Green to play a bigger role :)

Damn, what a dissapointing performance by my player in that game :? (N)
Btw, isn't it LaMarcus Aldridge and not LeMarcus as you write it?

Bell had a great debut! Telfair and Magloire also played nice. If Magloire could score 10 and could grab a tad over 8 boards, you don't even need a replacement.

Thanks Lamrock

I'm glad you enjoyed the USA-Philippines game Skillmatic And it isn't over yet... there's still one really really BIG trade that happened during the preseason. Did not involve Seattle though and did involve one of the players mentioned in the Summer Recap...

Hova, Arenas hogged the ball.

Stupidboy, yes, thanks for letting me know lol... I guess I'm gonna have to change it lol

Martti., told you Bell is gonna be good for us. Magloire isn't expected to do much, not when you have guys like Durant, Kidd, Lee on the team. I just need him to be an 'enforcer' like in real life. :)

I need Your Feedback!

Hey everyone!

In preparation for the new season, I will need your feedback on who I am to write about in my NBA Team Focus for each monthly recap. I need you to suggest what teams that I should write about. There are some rules though:

- You need to rank the top 10 teams you would like to learn more of
- You must not include any of the following: LA Clippers, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, or Dallas Mavericks (As there are NLSC rookies on them and I won't feature them)
- Also try not to include any teams that I have written about before: Off the top of my head that includes Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers

All those who participate will get +25 Points for Participation to go towards their rookies!
And the major prize is +50 if you suggest some way to improve my Association. I'm going to pick the best idea and if I use it, you get 50 points!

Well, I'll give it a go :

1) Miami
2) Memphis :cheeky:
3) Boston
4) San Antonio
5) Denver
6) Orlando
7) Atlanta
8) Chicago
9) Houston
10) Philadelphia

And I don't have any suggestions :D The first two seasons have been amazing, it's hard to improve something this good. :D

1. Philadelphia (obviously because my cyber player plays for them)
2. Denver (my favorite team in the NBA)
3. Orlando
4. Cleveland
5. Miami
6. Chicago
7. Houston
8. New York
9. Charlotte
10. Utah

As Martti. said, the first two seasons have been nothing sort of amazing and its really difficult to think of a way to improve this since this is already the best dynasty/association in NLSC. But I'll let you know if I think of something..
