Looking doubtful as he says himself in the chapter yeah :P

Thierry wrote:So, Joe Johnson is aboard (Y) Nice signing.

Thanks man. I'm excited for the team too. :)

Its_asdf wrote:You make Joe Johnson sound like a prima donna. I've always had the notion that Johnson was pretty comfortable deferring his role to his teammates and an overall unselfish player. I think he'd be a pretty good complimentary player for Seattle.

The idea is that in adding JJ, we are adding another personality in a team that is ridden with them. I agree with you that I think he will fit in nicely as the number 2 option. Finally I will have two 20+ ppg scorers. :)

Martti. wrote:Well, this makes your starting 5 better, but I hope this wont affect Ty's minutes.

Thanks for including me in your story.

Well, you and Ty have a history. It also means that Estonia did not qualify for World Championships lol... thats why you and ratrac are working out with Ty and Rocky. :)

And Ty is our sixth man now. I don't think he's happy about that lol

Skillmatic wrote:Weird. I have this odd feeling that you didn't get JJ and are just getting your buddy Vince to leak it out to the media as a bluff. I'm probably wrong though. Anyway, great chapter as usual, despite the fact a Durant-Chara brawl doesn't seem likely.

Well, we have a new starting two guard man. :) If it's not JJ, who can it be? There was no one else at his caliber in the FA market... and so you are wrong. :P

And why does everyone want Durant and Chara to all-out brawl? lol Surprised no one has mentioned Chara for being racist!

Clutch wrote:signs of hope for Durant; don't ditch him man!

Maybe, maybe not. We won't know until the story progresses...

Valor wrote:great chapter once again, somehow i think there is a twist to it then what it appears to be though

You're probably thinking too much.

Hova wrote:I love this chapter. Bringing in JJ might be the next step although you really give up two guys of your core rotation in Morrison and Telfair. Chara is such a dickhead ^^ I love how you describe him. Like every cocky freak KD has problems inside. His mind seems confused. If he doesnt change than I hope you let JJ take over and trade KD for a solid big man. How would that be? (your answer: KD wont be traded in a while) -.- ^^

I hope I made you laugh with Chara! :) And I think KD is just jealous of Ty's talent and scared that he will lose his 'the man' status... even though Ty has no interest in taking that title off of him.

And my answer is what you said indeed... I won't be trading KD. He's part of our future.

Story is going well dude, loving the writing. I agree with Its_asdf though, your making JJ seem like a bit of a dick when im pretty sure hes a pretty cool guy and good to play with on the court.

Howd NZ go in the WC?

I don't think you signed Joe Johnson. I have a feeling there might've been a trade. Or you have brought in a starting SG on a 1 or 2 year deal until Ty is ready to lead the team.

Really hope the Johnson signing is a smoke screen, but thats extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, really good chapter. Good to see Durant starting to realize how much of a dick he is.

Stealth To Sign Johnson

July 8, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – There have been reports that the Seattle Stealth have agreed to a 4 year contract with Atlanta Hawks SG Joe Johnson. The team is slated to hold a press conference in the coming days to announce the signing.

Johnson is expected to come onto the team and start at the shooting guard position. A talented player who rose to prominence with the Phoenix Suns, Johnson was able to transform the Atlanta Hawks into a playoff team after years of non-relevance.

Larry Hughes Signing With Seattle?

July 9, 2010

CHICAGO (AP) – Word has surfaced that Seattle has its eyes set on veteran swingman Larry Hughes. It comes a day after it was announced that the team had come to terms with Hawks SG Joe Johnson. Some inside sources have claimed that the Johnson signing was a bluff and that Larry Hughes will be Seattle’s prize signing of the Summer.

Johnson Believes He Is Going To Seattle

July 10, 2010

ATLANTA (AP) – Conflicting reports have insinuated that either Joe Johnson or Larry Hughes will sign with Seattle in coming days. ESPN.com tried to get to the most reliable source in order to ascertain the situation and was thus able to catch up with Johnson. The Hawks star stated, “I believe that I will be on the Seattle playing roster.”

“There are a few things to work out with them (Seattle) and I am excited at the prospect of playing with Kevin (Durant) and Jason (Kidd),” the talented swingman stated.

Team USA Announces Roster

July 25, 2010

NEW YORK (AP) – NBA MVPs LeBron James, Chris Paul, and rising star Moses Chara headline an exciting Team USA roster of 12 players. James and Paul were both part of the gold medal winning squad at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Chara looks likely to unseat Carmelo Anthony from his starting position for Team USA.

Joining James, Paul, and Chara on Team USA are: Anthony, Greg Oden, Dwight Howard, Jay Gray, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Andre Iguodala, Gilbert Arenas, and Barney Steele.

Mike Krzyzewski has announced James, Anothony, and Wade as captains.

Larry Hughes? Blech. I guess he'd be alright if he signed for less than the MLE and JJ was signed as well. Larry Hughes as a consolation prize for JJ is a pretty big drop off. I used to like Hughes a lot (big fan of the versatile big combo guards of course!), but he just became unwatchable after that massive contract he got.

I think JJ over Hughes is a no-brainer, this is just an attempt to draw people away from the inevitable JJ signing :P The only other possibility I see (as said further up the page) is trade that brings in someone of JJs level.

Pretty sure everybody would prefer JJ over Hughes, seeing as how hughes is a scrub.. I would like to see a veteran SG of lower caliber than JJ's and for you to focus on depth and bigs, but at the very least, don't bring in Hughes.

The story so far: 2010 World Championship Edition

Team USA Favorites To Take Out World Crown

August 28, 2010

TURKEY (AP) – The United States team consisting of LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Moses Chara are tipped as favorites to take out the crown as FIBA World Champions. The depth of the American side dwarfs the one that represented them at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The emergence of Chara has forced 2008 fourth leading scorer Carmelo Anthony to the bench while Lakers star Kobe Bryant might become the team’s sixth man. All of this also means that Miami’s Dwyane Wade has been pushed back further in the depth chart; Wade was Team USA’s leading scorer in Beijing. NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant is the side’s twelfth man; a stark illustration of how strong the side is.

Team USA is expected to face its toughest challenge from defending champions Spain.

Spain Stumbles In Group Play

September 3, 2010

TURKEY (AP) – Defending World Champions Spain are in danger of an early exit and failure to defend their crown as they finished third in group play. A win in the round of sixteen would set up a quarter final show down with heavyweights, the United States of America.

Pau Gasol and aspiring NBA player Ricky Rubio have blamed the international retirement of Juan Carlos Navarro on Spain’s slow start to the tournament. Spain, in group D, saw Dirk Nowitzki, Florian Ruf, and Chris Hova lead Germany to first place.

The United States swept all of their games to grab first place in Group B. They finished off the group stage with a big win against Serbia. New Zealand’s young outfit led by Andrew Watson and Mark Moore cemented their place in the second round while eliminating Iran in Group C. China were surprise winners of Group C as teams struggled to contain Yao Ming, who is leading the tournament in scoring with 22.4 ppg. New Jersey Net Yi Jianlian has proven a force at SF for China while Philadelphia 76er Mingyu Li opened up the floor with his three point shooting. China has overachieved thanks to the emergence of 17 year old NCAA-bound PG Wu Jao. They defeated Australia to stay undefeated for the tournament.

Argentina, led by Luis Scola and Manu Ginobili, claimed first place in Group A with Greece in second place. Nigeria surprised everyone by coming third while Lithuania just scraped through to the next round.

Slovenia Upsets Germany, Team USA Cruises

September 5, 2010

TURKEY (AP) – Washington Wizards PG Klemen Pirc led Slovenia to a 76-75 upset over Germany, who had been undefeated up to this point. Germany had a formidable lineup of Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Kaman, Chris Hova, and NBA prospect Florian Ruf. Pirc did it all for Slovenia as he finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. His pass to Detroit Piston Sasha Vujacic set up the game winning basket.

Team USA cruised to a 30 point win in their matchup against the surprise team of the tournament Philippines. Moses Chara led Team USA with 23 points. LeBron James added 15 while Dwight Howard scored 14. The Philippines was led by Kenneth Dela Cruz’s 18 points and Zoilo Resurreccion’s 15 points and 5 assists.

Other matches of note include Spain’s drubbing of Russia that set them up with a quarter final against Team USA. China escaped with a 4 point win against Lithuania while Argentina was led by Manu Ginobili’s 25 points in their win against Brazil. Australia managed to knock out Greece, extracting revenge on the team that beat them in 2006 while France triumphed over Serbia.

Chinese Too Tall For Tall Blacks

September 7, 2010

TURKEY (AP) – China’s collection of giants was too much for New Zealand to handle. 7’6” Yao Ming, 7’1” Wang ZhiZhi, 7’ Yi Jianlian, 7’ Mingyu Li dominated inside and outside of the paint. Inside scoring from Ming, three pointers from Zhizhi and Li, and devastating drives from Jianlian saw New Zealand fall in their first double digit loss of the tournament. Chinese playmaking prodigy Wu Jao was exceptional as he recorded a tournament high 14 assists. His quickness and deft passing skills impressed his rivals.

New Zealand’s starting PG Andrew Watson tried his best to keep his side in the game as he sank six three point baskets, finishing with 19 points, as teammate Mark Moore was top scorer with 22 points. That would not stop China from prevailing as 87-73 winners.

Team USA benefited from Moses Chara’s hot shooting in the final quarter of a tightly contested match. The contest became fiery as Marc Gasol was ejected from the game for running onto the court after an altercation with Chara. They advanced to play Slovenia who took the scalp of another big basketball playing nation. Slovenia cruised to a 10 point win over France. Klemen Pirc led Slovenia with 17 points and 4 steals while Sasha Vujacic added 15.

Andrew Bogut was shut down by the Argentine defense and Jeremy Mason struggled to hit open shots as Australia dropped out of the tournament in a 83-76 loss.

I now know why we lost. NZ's stupid coach started me at PG instead of Mark. Common sense should've prevailed & had Mark at the 1, me at the 2 & Penney at the 3. No surprise that we lost to China as we've always had problems against their size, even though we have better guards. Still, making the quarter finals was a great effort for the boys. Who'd we beat to make quarters? Like Puerto Rico again?

Thanks to Zoilo and Kenneth, Phillipines came second at Asian Championships and thus qualified for the World Championships. :)
