Oh, my bad :P He would look better in a Blazers jersey, imo.

Yeah, he did look good in the Blazers jersey, reminds me of AI of the Philly days :P

Carter, Harris Shines in MSG as Nets Blowout Knicks
Image

7:30 PM ET, November 28th, 2009
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY

It was the world's biggest stage and Carter knew it was the time to make his name big again, his team had been struggling lately and he was unhappy about all the press coverage (or lack thereof) regarding his capability to lead a team and get the job done. Tonight, he did everything right and made all the critics shout nothing but praise.

Half man, Half Amazing dropped in 31 points, along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block on 13 for 28 shooting, as well as 4 for 4 from the charity stripe, to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 100 to 77 blowout victory over the Nets' crosstown rival New York Knicks in the world's most famous arena - Madison Square Garden. VC was not alone on this night, as he had major help in the form of Devin Harris, who had a near triple double performance with 11 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds on 4 for 9 shooting, and like his teammate Carter, Harris went perfect from the charity stripe (2-2).

"You know, people have been saying i am not good enough to lead a team, that i don't have the drive to do so, that i lost my abilities" Carter said after the game "Tonight, my action speaks for me"

"You could tell, today he was in one of his zones" said Harris "he came out with a purpose, and delivered big time"

Sophomore Brook Lopez had a decent effort with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 24 minutes of play while Sean Williams came off the bench and delivered 7 points and 9 rebounds in just 19 minutes. Yi Jianlian struggled shooting the ball (2-9 FG), but still had 6 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

The Nets' rookies were decent in this game, Lai had 14 points and 3 rebounds from 6 for 9 shooting in 14 minutes of play while Patrick Mills had an all-round game despite struggling from the field (1-7 FG), he finished with 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 12 minutes off the bench.

The Knicks were led by Al Harrington and rookie BJ Mullens, both notching double doubles in the loss. Harrington had a team high 16 points alongside 10 boards, while Mullens had 12 points and tied with David Lee for the game high in rebounds with 12. Nate Robinson started in place of the injured Chris Duhon and had 12 points and 9 assists, however, he is the main reason why the Knicks suffered a beating from the Nets, as he took a game high 29 field goal attempts, with 20 of those being 3 point attempts, and only managed to make 4 FG in total, 2 being three pointers, Robinson also had a game high 6 turnovers.

The Knicks never led in the game, but were close with the Nets until the middle of the 4th quarter, when the Nets used a 13 to 2 run to seal the game.

"Just an unacceptable loss, no excuses here," said Mike D'Antoni after the game "we had a lot of bad shots (Robinson..) and turned the ball over, the guys just fired bricks up there and didn't hustle, we just lost the will to fight in the 4th'

With this win, the Nets now have a 7-9 record while the Knicks drop to 11-6, New Jersey will end the month at home against the Cavaliers 2 nights later.

yeah, and what's even more surprising is that Celtics can't start Landry (for obvious reasons) and they don't have a starting pg now...unless you think Eddie House is a starter
no idea why they did this, Rockets didn't really need Rondo either, since they have Brooks, but it's better then having 4 PFs....Celtics is the major loser in that trade

Williams leads Nets bench to blowout over Rubio, Bucks
Image

Milwaukee, WI - Two nights after logging heavy minutes in a win against Blake Griffin and the Phoenix Suns, the Nets starters were able to take it easy.

Nets reserve Sean Williams had 11 points and a career high 14 rebounds along with 3 steals and 2 blocks, and the New Jersey Reserves contributed 49 points to lead the Nets to a 106-87 blowout victory over the Milwaukee Bucks and their prized rookie Ricky Rubio yesterday night.

"I try to be ready every night and make hustle plays to help my team win'' Williams said "Coach Frank gave me an opportunity to play and I just did my best out there.''

Nets Rookie Leo Lai led the way in scoring with a game high (tied with Michael Redd of the Bucks) 20 points while second round pick Patrick Mills added in a career high 18 points. The rookie duo outplayed second overall pick Ricky Rubio of the Milwaukee Bucks, who, despite having a career high 16 points along with 10 assists, had 11 of the Bucks' 24 turnovers.

The Nets starters were able to only play around 20 minutes and took early seats on the bench thanks to their terrific bench play, Vince Carter, who is averaging 30+ minutes per game, was able to slip into his warm ups after only 23 minutes, he contributed 15 points in that span of time while Devin Harris had 13 points and 5 assists in just 22 minutes of play.

"We just thought it was a good opportunity to let it ride with those guys.'' Nets coach Lawrence Frank said of his bench. "They had a good rhythm. They were defending and they were scoring. Sean was crashing the boards well and they were just on a roll"

"The starters were tired after playing a lot of tough minutes in that game against the Suns,'' Patrick Mills said "It was very important for all of us to contribute."

The Bucks were led by Michael Redd's 20 points, but he went 2 for 8 from beyond the arc as he and the Bucks combined for a 3 for 19 performance shooting the 3 ball, the Nets weren't much better, but they didn't shoot as much from deep.

Bruce Bowen, who came over from the Spurs in the Jefferson trade, bricked 8 3 point attempts by himself.

"It was tough, i was wide open a lot and i just didn't hit them" said Bowen after the game

"We never really got into these guys and they jumped on us early,'' Bucks head coach Eddie Jordan said after the game "they had more intensity and played with more energy then us, and we didn't take care of the ball"

The Nets are now .500 with this win with a 10-10 record, they are set to take on the Boston Celtics later tonight while the Bucks are now 6-12 and sit at the bottom of the Central Division.

Rose, Bulls make it two straight blowouts on Carter, Nets
Image

Chicago, IL - After embarrassing the Nets in front of the New Jersey crowd in the Izod Center, it was deja vu for Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls, only that it happened in a different location

The Chicago Bulls made a joke out of the New Jersey Nets for the second consecutive game, this time in the United Center, Chicago, as they blowout the Nets 114-92 and put on a show for their home fans only two days after they embarrassed the same team in the Izod Center, New Jersey.

Derrick Rose had a specular game with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and a career high 15 assists in just 27 minutes of play to lead his team to the victory, this is his second straight game scoring 21 points, and he did it tonight by going 10 for 13 from the field. Joakim Noah had 15 points and 9 rebounds coming off the bench, but the real surprise was the 26 year old, little used reserve Anthony Roberson, who came in and scored 18 points in 9 minutes to close the curtain on any hopes of a comeback from the Nets.

Not that they had any.

The Nets were downright terrible in tonight's game, not scoring their first field goal until halfway through the first quarter from a layup by Vince Carter, they were able to get to the line 36 times and converted 33 of those attempts, but only made 29 of their 90 field goal attempts (32%) and only had 1 three point attempt converted. They were outscored 66 to 38 in Points in the Paint, and 48 to 27 in bench production, something that they usually had an edge over their opponents.

"We didn't come out ready and got our ass kicked" Nets Head Coach Lawrence Frank said after the game "our shot wasn't falling, we didn't defend properly, and didn't play with energy. It's just unacceptable"

New Jersey's leading scorer Vince Carter was just 5 for 26 from the field, but was able to get to the line and converted all 16 of his Free Throw attempts, he finished the game with 26 points.

"We've got to find our offense back," said Carter after the game "our shots just weren't falling tonight"

Other Nets who actually contributed tonight included Devin Harris, who had 12 points and 8 assists in the contest, as well as Yi Jianlian, who had the only double double for the Nets with 11 points and 10 rebounds, he was also the only player in the game to reach double figures in rebounding.

Rookie Leo Lai came off the bench for 14 points, but was 3 for 9 from the field and scored most of his points in the garbage time late in the fourth quarter. The Other rookie Patrick Mills had a sub-par performance, going 1 for 7 for 2 points and 2 assists in 9 minutes of action.

"You know, they pounded us badly tonight, but i can't get mad at them" said Lai after the game "Props to Derrick and the Bulls for coming out and doing their thing, there was nothing we can do about it, besides, even though i am a Net, the Bulls are always my favorite team"

The Nets once again fall below the .500 mark with these two losses to the Bulls (11-12), While Chicago continues their chase at Cleveland for the top standing in the Central Division (14-9, 1.5 GB Cleveland)

Notes: New Jersey was just 25% from the field in the second half.....7 Bulls were in double figures while the Nets had 5.....Nets reserves Josh Boone and Bobby Jackson narrowly avoided recording a trillion....Lai was heavily criticized by Nets fans regarding his remarks after the game, and he apologized shortly afterwards....

Carter Could Be Dealt To Orlando
December 14th 2009

Image
The Trade Talks that have surfaced and died down during the summer
regarding Vince Carter's possible move to the Orlando Magic has resurfaced,
two league sources told ESPN.com.

The Rumored deal in the summer was that Vince Carter will be sent to Orlando
for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee, however, as of now that is
impossible, as the deal would not work under the salary cap thanks to Hedo
Turkoglu's decision to not opt out and stay with the Magic for one more season
in order to be available to become a 2010 free agent.

Neither Carter, the Nets, or the Magic have commented to these rumors

Wade: I'll Stay If Heat Contend
December 14th 2009

Image
Dwyane Wade says that he'll stay in Miami for the long-term if the Heat can
contend for the NBA title, and as of now, that doesn't seem to be likely.

The Miami Heat are currently amongst the teams that are contending for a
high lottery pick as they sit at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference
Standings with a miserable 7-16 record, Wade's comments might be a
strong message towards the Heat management to raise the team's level
or watch him depart via Free Agency.

Paul Believes Hornets Could Deal Him
December 14th 2009

Image
Chris Paul believes that the Hornets could trade him because of their
financial situation.

New Orleans is having a terrific season with a 13-9 record to sit in 3rd
place in the Western Conference Standings, but are set to be over the
luxury tax, and might have to bite the bullet and deal away some big
contracts.

"In this league, anything can happen," Paul told Pro Basketball News
on Thursday. "I can be dealt."

Paul was then asked if he seriously thought he could be dealt.

"It's possible," he reiterated. "It's possible."

Chapter 3

December 15th 2009
Nets Front Office

New Jersey Nets General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe has been in busy discussion with the Orlando Magic in the past couple of days, and today has been no exception...

"Hey Kiki, how's it going?" Lawrence Frank said as he walked into the room of the GM "Any good news?"

"Same old crap, still in discussions with Otis regarding Carter" answered Vandeweghe "How's the team doing?"

"GREAT, we're on a three game losing streak and our guys apparently forgot how to shoot" said Frank while grabbing himself a seat

"Oh crap..." groaned Vandeweghe "I am going to get fired by Ratner..."

"Mr Vandeweghe? Vince Carter is here to see you" the secretary said "shall i tell him to come in?"

"Erm, yes, bring him in" answered Vandeweghe "Vince! what can i do for you my man?"

"I have noticed the trade talks going on" Carter started...

"Nonono, there is no trade talks, you can be assured..."

"I like it, I want to go back home and be able to contend, you've got to get me to the Magic" finished Carter

"Oh, huh? Well in that case i'll do my best to get you there, i cant promise anything, but i'll do my best" said a semi-shocked Vandeweghe

"Thanks Man" said Carter as he left....

"Well Kiki, what are you going to do?" asked an amused Lawrence Frank

"I've got an idea..." answered Vandeweghe as he picked up the phone "Hello? Otis? yeah it's me again, listen, we could put Hedo instead of Courtney in, you aint going to resign him after this season anyways, why not keep your young prospect Lee and play him alongside Carter? Salaries match up well that way....yes yes, absolutely, thank you"

"That's that done..."

---------------------two days later-------------------

"Hey are the rumors true?" Frank asked as he came into the office

"What rumors"

"Our Owner is selling the team"

"WHAT? YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS"

"well..." said Frank but was interrupted

"I see you people have caught wind of it already, " Nets owner Bruce Ratner said "Indeed, i am selling the team, infact, i have just sold it"

"So..who is our new boss?" asked the staff

"I am sure you people know these two," answered Ratner as he waved for the two people behind him to come forward "say hello to your new owners, Toni Kukoc, and Dennis Rodman"

silence spread throughout the room as Kukoc and Rodman announced their arrival, it wasn't when Kukoc stated that changes would be made that Lawrence Frank asked

"What's going to happen with the current staff?"

"Well, you don't have to worry, cause you are not getting fired, but your friend over there...Mr General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe, sorry pal, you're fired" answered Rodman with a grin on his face "and his replacement...would be me and Toni"

blank stares and another awkward silence drew on until Kiki quietly left the room to pack his things

"This franchise is going to go a major change, no more losing for the stupid 2010 FA race, we don't want Lebron James here and he doesn't want to be here, we want a championship ASAP" announced Kukoc "So get to it, we are going to be slowly using our expirings as an incentive for teams to trade with us with their star players, and build a team according to how we like it, Coach Frank, i am going to be involved in the lineup changes, do you have a problem with that?"

"No sir, feel free to give me suggestions"

"Good, now get working"

Orlando Acquires Vince Carter
December 16th 2009

Image
The Orlando Magic have acquired eight-time NBA All-Star guard
Vince Carter alongside Bobby Jackson and Jarvis Hayes from the
New Jersey Nets in exchange for guard Rafer Alston, forward-center
Tony Battie and forward Hedo Turkoglu, General Manager Otis Smith
announced this evening. “Vince (Carter) gives us a veteran, go-to
scoring presence, especially at the end of games,” Smith said. “Our
goal remains the same – to win a championship. Any time you can
add an All-Star to help you reach your goals, you have to do it. Vince
has been a bonafide scorer in this league for 11 seasons and we are
excited to add him to our team.

“The trade we made today provides our franchise with numerous
options in the long-term development of our team,” Nets General
Manager Kiki Vandeweghe said "It helps with our salary cap purposes
to get ready for 2010 and our team's competitiveness is retained
by the acquisition of Hedo (Turkoglu), Rafer Alston has proven to be
a quality player in this league for a number of years, and Tony Battie
will provide a strong veteran presence off the bench."

Ratner Sells Nets to former Bulls greats, Kukoc and Rodman
December 17th 2009

Sources close to the Nets have confirmed the sale of the Nets Franchise
from majority owner Bruce Ratner to former Chicago Bulls players Toni
Kukoc and Dennis Rodman.

A Press Conference will be held in the Izod Center shortly after the Nets'
regular season home game against the Indiana Pacers tonight, in which
new additions Hedo Turkoglu and Rafer Alston will make their debut,
Tony Battie is on the Inactive Rotations and is expected to have a buy out
negotiated shortly.

Reports have it that the new owners will replace Kiki Vandeweghe as the
General Manager(s) of the Nets.
