EA has Sucker-Punched PC Owners Who expected a SIM

Postby MCalca1706 on Tue Dec 10, 2002 4:03 pm

The bottom line is, as some one mentioned above, EA has no competition!
Their first priority, obviously, is bucks and console owners, but care little about satisfying long time customers. When was the last time they made a patch to fix any of the many problems with Live? I wonder if they ever even bother to read the wish lists in NBA Forums? Does anyone really believe they will patch this version?

If EA had some competition they sure as hell would not be taking their PC customers for granted this way. I have lost all respect for this company!
EA will have this great racket going as long as they have a monopoly!

After two years, and after paying $40, now I am supposed to fix and patch the game to get any kind of realism at all!

When you pay for a product, why should you have to fix flaws in it to make it playable! Is that in Marketing 101?

To you people that defend this game so much, have you ever seen a real NBA game played this way on planet earth? I am now supposed to adapt to game play that is totally unrealistic and grossly exaggerated!
You guys must also like the martial art movies where people were super human and could fly around like Superman!

NBA Live was always a simulation first and then an arcade game and not NBA Jam!
EA programmers must be drinking too much caffeine or thought they were making a sneaker commercial.

This game plays like it’s on steroids! If everyone can block, shot, run and do it all, why not just make all the players exactly the same? If every one can dunk likeVince Carter or Block like Shaq, what exactly is the point?

After $40, two years, and so many wish lists, I really expected more. I shouldn’t be surprised though, from so many past EA blunders.

I am very upset because this was always my favorite sports simulation and now it has become non-stop highlight reels!

Next time, I will definitely try the demo first and never preorder one of EA’s titles!

from what other ppl say..the ps2/xbox version of this game is just as messed
i guess it really was their stupid intention to release an arcade game rather than a sim

as far as the wishlist goes..i sometimes wonder why people (myself included) post in there..they never put into effect anything we write

NBA Live 2003

It seems that NBA Live has been turned into a toy, to appeal to children.

Look at the overely repeated childish animations.

Companies that don't listen to and try to please their customers, will eventually pay the price.

NBA Live has never been a sim. A true simulation is not only very hard to do (said to be one of the toughest things to do in the game industry), but doesn't sell well. The masses want to run, dunk and shoot threes. That's what will be produced. You cater to the masses, or you become Sierra Sports.

Hey,

there is al little ...hope. EA will possible make a patch for some bugs. Thats is the good story.
The bad story is and agree with most of us, that ea look at the console market and not at the pc market.

The hardcore gamers are all from the pc market and normally there are no "kiddies"

My suggestion: If EA hasn´t the peak or the woll to do all the stuff what we want since years, please Ea make the game to a open system.

NBA Live has always been (or tried to be) a Sim and was marketed as one.

I believe that High Heat Baseball (either 2001 or 2002) won game of the year and tons of praise and it definitely was not for being an arcade game.

Unfortunately the 2003 version didn't live up to the standard. Triple Play Baseball was very much an arcade based game and criticized everywhere.
