You are saying that it is an absolute truth that there are no absolute truths. Also, do you not believe that god is absolute truth? Also, this discussion should probably be in that other shitty thread.

Bryant wants Lakers management and owner Jerry Buss to bring back starter Trevor Ariza(notes) and sixth man Lamar Odom(notes), who both become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

“Extremely critical,” he said about bringing both players back. “Those are pieces that are tough to find. We have such a great team. It’s rare that you find a collection of guys that are so talented and willing to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the group.

“Now it’s just about keeping this group together so we can keep on winning this thing.”

Jackson also wants to see the team remain intact, including Ariza and Odom.

“I’m convinced that we can get both of these guys back,” he said. “Obviously, it’s going to take sacrifice on many parts.”

(Y) Also, went on to say that Kobe doesn't think he will opt out of his deal and even if he did, he would not go for more money.

Even if Kobe does opt out, I highly doubt it will be to leave. Depending on how generous he's feeling, he could take a slight paycut to help the Lakers avoid the luxury tax (or at least minimise the amount they're paying).

Well, I knew he wouldn't leave. Like you, I was hoping he'd take a pay cut to ensure Odom and Ariza would be back.

Now that Kobe has achieved his goal, I wonder if he's motivated enough for the repeat. I still want to see a rematch in the finals Lakers versus Celtics. It was bit disappointing to see KG not being able to play in the playoffs.

Depending on how smart the Cavs are this Summer (in particular... but in general, we need to see how the Summer pans out for most of the other contending teams), I think a Boston-Lakers 2010 NBA Finals is certainly a possibility. It would be fun to watch.

Also, I think Kobe is secretly gunning for a second three-peat, he is motivated. It's a question of how unselfish his Lakers teammates are. When they realise Kobe might be making them worse and if they can stand up for themselves without causing conflict. Whether Lakers roleplayers will cause conflict cause they want more minutes/shots... chemistry will be huge in the next few seasons.

I think we certainly have the talent to at least contend for a few more titles but there are still lots of factors apart from just talent to win a championship.

i would love to see LA go for a second three-peat. Could you imagine if Phil stayed he would have 12 rings, most ever.

He could have 12 rings now, had they won last year and in 2004. And it goes without saying that 12 would be the most ever, from now on it's his own record that he'll be breaking should he win more titles.

Imagine how many rings he might have if Jordan didn't retire and Shaq and Kobe were on good terms. We might not have won this year or got to the Finals last year, but Shaq and Kobe could have won 5 or 6 rings together, MJ could have added 2 more in the years he was out. Who knows. All hypothetical! And obviously, a very optimistic hypothetical!

MJ could've contributed 4 or more titles . . . !

2 year abscence and his early retirement .

He still can play 2 or more seasons before he retired .

Lakers Waive Sun Yue

“With the talent level and depth of our roster, the situation simply doesn’t provide an opportunity for Sun Yue to get the chance to play that he deserves,”

We appreciate Sun’s contributions to last season’s championship team

Did he make significant contributions? I felt he got a ring just by sitting on the bench... How easy can that be; comparing with his other compatriot Yao Ming who had to work his butt and the ring still eludes him.

Who cares about playing time? He got a ring. That proves he's better than most players in the NBA, including LeBron.

I think it's a chicken and egg issue. My personal opinion is that if Sun Yue had proven himsself to be a dependable player, I'm sure Phil would have given him some minutes off the bench to help his team. However, I didn't read anything about him, except the only time when he signed with the Lakers and mentioned something like he'll be some sort of "Monkey God"...

Very (Y) I can't remember who they passed up on to get Yue in the Draft and I was pretty upset lol I guess it was all a ploy to gain exposure in China.
