One shouldn't bother including them as religious people. They would be doing terror and killing with other reasons whether there was christianity/islam or not.
What I said was probably extreme due to the culture I'm exposed to. If I was living somewhere in Asia, then I'd probably hear more about Buddhist extremists and imposters. I'll backtrack and say that Christianity and Islam is a good thing, as long as it's not done in the name of violence, hate, prejudice, injustice, power, money and discrimination.

What a terrible argument. It's just as bad as saying a white man with a beard made everything with magic then created a woman via the first man's rib. Somehow this information was recorded and written in a book by "reliable" eyewitnesses who also cannot explain dinosaur bones.
Makes perfect sense.

ow yeah they got the atheism thing all wrong..
doesn't they teach them physics?
and biology ?
chemistry?
geography?
Why does everything has to have a reason?
It just happens, that's all.
It's easier to prove that god doesn't exist that to prove that it does.
Do you actually think god would create AIDS? so we would feel safe when we have sex? Did he really want to take all the fun out of sex by wearing a condom?
P.S. Late night post

Personally, I'd like to see more co-operation and understanding between different faiths.

What if she prey's to mantis and bites your head off after mating?

Which head?

that would be one smart girl to get the jump on me. seeing as how my mom was like the queen bitch, I think I have a pretty good sense on dealing with hoes.

I choose the much more difficult and interesting road of actually living life wondering about things and how they came to be, instead of attributing it to a magical grandpa in the sky. But whatever floats your boat.

These topics never get anywhere... People who believe in a higher power have their beliefs rooted too deeply into spirituality while people who don't believe in any higher power won't budge from their logical and analytical way of thinking.

But they are somewhat entertaining, and I'm actually rather pleasantly surprised that there are less people who believe in a God here. Basketball fans aren't necessarily known for their intelligence.

Me too.

But then true believers wouldn't be wasting time arguing here and they're so rare in my opinion.

If Larry Bird says that Michael Jordan is god, then Jordan is indeed god.

I don't think there's anything wrong with "needing" god. I don't necessarily agree with the idea of God and like a few posters earlier pointed out, it can skewer one's ideologies. However, there are some positives that can from the whole idea of religion itself. Moral teachings like "do unto others as the do unto you" and that kind of stuff really help people live together a lot more easily. Also, the belief in God can also help people deal/cope with tragedy, and while I don't believe in all that heaven and hell stuff, if it helps someone else ease the pain and sleep better at night then why shouldn't someone be able to use it as a coping mechanism? I think my anthropology professor put it best when he said "it's not whether or not God exists, it's the fact that the believe in him and how that belief can motivate others to do things in our world is whats most important." Err.. At least it was something like that. I'm not the philosophical rambling type.
It's sad how something like religion which can have some powerful positive effects on humanity can be easily manipulated to hurt/misguide others.

What the hell at the people who just signed up and have made a gross majority of their only posts in just this thread?
People believe what they believe right or wrong. It doesn't affect you, why do you care?
Changing someones belief system, especially one that has been ingrained throughout their life is extremely difficult and will not result from any thread on the internet. It requires either a major scale event (such as what drives people to become "born-again" after hitting rock bottom or how some people changed politically after 9/11, etc.) or long term gradual disaffection with the belief. And throwing ad hominems at people is the least effective means of changing beliefs, and only serves to entrench them, especially if there is already a persecution complex.
Not to mention segementation into descriptive groups, and then the waging of war on alternative groups, being caustic to the body politic.

I have a plan to stay longer,it's just a popular thread. Why not to post,if this thread is interesting to me?Should i dig up old threads?

I was just noticing, whenever there's a religion thread this happens. Like that guy who wanted us to help him convert to Islam. Signed up, made the thread, posted nowhere else ever again.
