Yeah, looks like youve already mastered the right timing in how to shoot at 2k9! Nice win!...is that Durant's carrer-high?

If you were with the Bobcats, you would be sweeping the ROM's from Chara.

Hope that the CPU also make those kind of trades in earlier issues of live...BTW, I also strongly suggest youll get Ariza, Im also a fan of him, and he is capable of starting because he has leaps and rock defense... ...also, its kinda surprising that Minny is winning that much, adding Bibby to them in real life wouldnt really make a big difference...anyways, Great recaps as always!

I've got Ariza now. :) Be happy!

48 in 3 quarters actually... maybe make that like 40 somehting in the 2nd and 3rd quarters :P Durant was on fire!

No, I've mastered the Durant shot... he is such an awesome scorer in 2k9!

The story so far...

NBA All-Star Game Starters Announced

February 7, 2010

NEW YORK (AP) – The NBA has announced the starters for this season’s All-Star Game. LeBron James led all players in voting while reigning NBA MVP Chris Paul led all Western Conference players in voting.

James will be joined by Gilbert Arenas, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, and Kevin Garnett to lead the Eastern Conference All-Stars. Paul is joined by Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, and surprise starter Moses Chara.

Chara, a rookie, was particularly happy about his selection and called his own press conference after hearing of the news, “I told everyone that I would be playing in the All-Star Game.”

The benches for both teams will be selected by coaches from around the League.

Trevor Ariza Lights Up Former Team in Stealth Debut

February 9, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle signed Trevor Ariza for the rest of the 09-10 season and he did not disappoint his new team. Ariza scored 15 points from off the bench in his first game with his new team, leading Seattle to a win over the LA Lakers. “I couldn’t have imagined any better way to start the next part of my career,” he said after the game.

Ariza, who averaged 8.9 ppg and 4.4 rpg for Orlando in the 06-07 season, struggled during his tenure with the Lakers. The UCLA product and 14th pick of the 2004 Draft was not resigned by the Lakers during the offseason and was overseas in Europe working on his three point shooting. Ariza played with CSKA Moscow but was allowed to return to the NBA when Seattle came calling.

“Seattle needed my help and I thought it was a good situation for me,” he states.

Ariza was signed to add some depth and toughness to the Stealth backcourt. Seattle is having a surprising season, finding themselves among the top four teams of the Western Conference. Their GM Will Sit told reporters, “We didn’t think we’d be so competitive right off the bat after signing Jason (Kidd) and David (Lee) but now that we are right in the mix, our aims have changed. We want to advance in the playoffs and so we had to add some more talent. Trevor is a versatile player. He is athletic, plays great defence, and he has improved his shooting tremendously.”

Durant, Kidd Added To Western Conference Roster

February 10, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle teammates Kevin Durant and Jason Kidd were announced to be part of the NBA All-Star Game. Durant is the NBA’s leading scorer at 30.2 ppg. He is also averaging 4.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.4 spg, and 1.4 bpg. He will make his second ever appearance at the NBA’s premier showcase of talent.

Stealth captain Jason Kidd is leading the league in assists at a clip of 11.2 a game. He is also scoring 13.2 ppg while adding 5.8 rpg, and 1.7 spg. The duo have the Seattle Stealth entering the All-Star break with a 31-22 record.

“The importance of these two cannot be summed up in words,” Coach George Karl stated, “You can look at the stats and the performance of our team but these guys are more than that. Their leadership extends off the court. Their All-Star selections are well-deserved.”

Nuggets’ Watson: I Should Be An All-Star

February 12, 2010

DENVER (AP) – Denver rookie Andrew Watson has made it clear to media that he is unhappy with not being awarded an All-Star spot. “I should be there,” the former West Virginia star argues, “My team is one of the top NBA teams and I have played really well this season.”

The usually soft-spoken New Zealander has looked annoyed for some time now after voicing his opinion that he should be considered more seriously for the Rookie of the Year award; the one that many have seemingly awarded to Moses Chara before the season even started. “That’s the problem, Moses is a great player but everyone has seemed to have forgotten me. Looks at the numbers and we are fairly close and then look at the team records,” Watson says, “Who’s going to be in the playoffs and who isn’t? I think I deserve more credit than I have gotten.”

Watson’s non-selection for the All-Star team took his teammates Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups by surprise. “X has been a huge addition for us,” Anthony said. Billups added, “He really opens up the floor for everyone. He has been a star since he came onto our team and was a steal in the Draft. He is All-Star calibre.”

Watson also had some words for another rookie SG in his Draft class, "I remember back in workouts, everyone was calling me the second or third best player at my position. I actually think I was the best shooting guard and I should have been the number two pick. That guy, and I'm not going to name names, who was picked second. We all know who is better right now."

Great signing in Ariza. (Y) That signing alone could end up being the difference between winning and losing a playoff series. Its also nice to see two of your players make it in KD and Kidd. I'm surprised to see Chara over Durant though. (What is Chara's overall?!) Nice X article as well. Would have been something if he made it.

Looking forward to the ASG. Why the rookie challenge is in the game, isn't on blacktop, but isn't in the Association is beyond me. (N)

I'm keen to see who else made the All-Star teams (Y) Also, I'd have to agree with others, Durant should've got starting nod over Chara (N)

I'm not going to disclose his overall rating. But he is the best player in the Draft... The X is a close second but only because he's been improving over the season... Chara is averaging 23 ppg, 8 rpg, 8 apg... while Durant is averaging 30 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg... so yeh, i'm not surprised Chara got the nod to start.

nah, the Bobcats were probably going to be bad regardless, I think it was the Stealth who made the wrong pick, Tyson over Watson (& giving away Westbrook in the deal  )....looking at numbers & considering I'm rookie, I don't think an All-Star spot is deserved....definitely should've been in the mix, but I couldn't honestly make a case for myself ahead of the players in front of me, but let's see if I can back it up next year....

TJ Ford's stats arent bad and he's on a winning team... check out the Pacers article I wrote.

Chapter 17

“So what did he say to you?” Brad Miller wanted to know.
“Who?” Adam Morrison replied.
Miller looked around cautiously, “Sit.”
“We talked about my role on the team.”
“And?”
Morrison shrugged, “I guess I’m not happy and I asked to be traded.”
“Then why are you still here?”
Morrison shook his head, “Because they traded away Earl instead.”
“You don’t want to leave do you?”
“I do.”
“Go ask again then.”
“He said he’s working on something.”
Morrison stood up and returned to the practice floor. The team was in New York for their game against the Knicks. A couple of guys on the team were from the area so they were excused from morning shoot around to visit their families and friends. Rocky Akonnor and Sebastian Telfair, recently acquired by Seattle, were notable absentees. David Lee, who played for the Knicks until he signed with Seattle, was even absent from practice. That’s why it was surprising to see Reshawn Tyson on the court shooting around with the rest of the team.
Miller had gotten up as well, grabbed a basketball, and walked gingerly onto the court due to his recovering toe, “Hey young fella.”
Ty turned round, “What’s up?”
“Don’t you come from round here?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“You should be with your family.”
“I don’t have any.”
Miller paused, “Sorry.”
Silence ensued.
Ty broke the awkwardness, “I’m fine.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
Ty took a jumper; it was a swish.
“To make a long story short, my mom and brother passed away.”
Miller patted Ty’s shoulder, “I’m sorry to hear it. What about your dad?”
Ty lied, “I never got to know who he was.”

* * *

Kevin Durant and Jason Kidd were heralded as the heroes for an overachieving team. That was why many groaned when Kidd appeared to have hurt himself in a game against the Phoenix Suns. The veteran leader was hoisting air balls and fumbling passes.
“This is not the kind of Jason Kidd we are accustomed to seeing,” Marv Albert commentated, “Something must be wrong with him.”
Sideline reporter Cheryl Miller later announced, “Jason Kidd has come off for the rest of the game. Doctors have said that he dislocated his finger and after speaking to Jason, he says he will take tonight off but should play in the next game.”
Kidd did play but was ineffective but his presence still held the team up leading to four wins in a row to finish January. Kidd’s limited court time allowed new backup point guard Telfair to run the show. The diminutive guard was able to rack up a total of 14 assists over two games from off the bench. On one play, Telfair went for a layup but somehow flipped out a behind the back pass to Durant who proceeded to dunk the ball. The whole Seattle bench was on their feet.
David Lee was waving his towel, “I didn’t know he could do that!”
Jeff Green high fived Chris Wilcox, “That cat can play!”
Kidd was back in full force by the start of February and the Stealth continued to win.

“Coach,” Ty sought George Karl after a late training session.
“Yes Ty?”
“I want to ask if you would be willing to let me play a bit more,” Ty asked him.
“You’re doing great but we have Jeff and Adam playing well. It’s no knock against you,” Karl was being nice, “I’m playing you as much as I can.”
Ty pleaded, “I didn’t think that I wanted to play that much either this season but it’s a hard adjustment.”
“We’re not the Tar Heels Ty,” Karl said, “You’re not the star of the show yet. You need to earn your minutes.”
“Coach, I practice hard and I play hard all the time. I hustle, I defend…”
Karl stopped him there, “But you’re supposed to do that Ty.”
“Coach, I just want more consistency. One night I play half a game, the next night I play about ten minutes.”
“It’s tough,” Karl admitted, “You’re just not ready kid.”
“I am ready!”
Karl was still calm, “I’ve been a head coach for longer than you have been playing basketball Ty. I will know when you are ready.”
“But,” Ty tried to argue.
“This conversation is over Ty. I will look into it all but I can’t guarantee to give you more minutes. The team is doing very well.”
After Karl had left, Durant appeared behind Ty; he had heard it all.
“Begging for minutes?” Durant taunted Ty.
Ty turned around, “Piss off.”
“This is getting pretty sad rookie,” Durant laughed.
Durant walked past Ty and Ty stuck his elbow in his ribs.
“What’s that for?” Durant was defensive.
Ty then lunged at Durant.

* * *

Ty was back in the dingy hospital corridor. He looked around and tried to get a sense of what was happening. He had fallen asleep outside his mother’s room and had just woken up. A doctor was walking towards him.
“You’re Reshawn Tyson?”
“Yes sir,” Ty shook the doctor’s hand.
“Come into my office son.”
Ty followed the doctor into a small room.
“I’m sorry son.”
“Why are you sorry?”
“Your mom needs to get surgery. She’s getting sicker every day.”
Ty was worried, “Can you save her?”
“If we can get her into surgery faster but since we are only a public hospital; it’s doubtful it will happen soon enough.”
“But isn’t this life threatening? Don’t you save people’s lives?”
The doctor didn’t know how to break it to him, “Your mom is sick but she is not sick enough to be considered serious enough to get emergency surgery right now.”
“Please, do something to save her?”
“You can always get her transferred to a private hospital.”
Ty was quivering, “You know we don’t have the money.”
The doctor stayed relaxed, he had done this many times, “I’m sorry Reshawn but all we can do is wait. Your mom is on a waiting list and we will get her in as soon as possible.”
Ty felt helpless, “Will she die?”
“It all depends on how strong she is. I’m sorry.”
Ty walked out of the room and into the corridor. He yelled at the top of his lungs and started punching and kicking at the wall before crouching down in a heap on the floor. First it was Tayshawn, now it’s mom!
“Are you ok?” a nurse was kneeling down beside him.
A security guard had been called to escort Ty out of the hospital, “I’m sorry, there’s no shouting in here.”
