If you want to make some classic/retired players and assign them portraits....then yes.

When will 2k release these codes? Before the playoffs?

Never. As far as I can tell, there are only portraits, no cyberfaces or 3d models.

i personally think the codes are there for rookies in dynasty mode. could also be that 2k is going to build upon the current game next year and release some interesting mods and stuff with next years game. also i dont think 2k has the rights to the non current nba players. i may be wrong on that though

Here are some more hidden palyer iffs found in nba2k9 folder. these all have actual cyberfaces already! but, alot of them have dark arms and chest. i dont if someone could go in a fix the skin tones or not.

Yep. He's right. It is indeed MJ w/ the Wizards. I'd say there is one with the Bulls/younger as well somewhere. No cyberface or body though.

Also time. Both they and EA have clearly intended to add classic teams for years now, but the short development cycles and the legal issues have prevented this.
