Freestyle Superstar Problem

Postby nbafan20 on Mon Mar 02, 2009 4:20 pm

OK

I just purchased NBA Live 07. It was on sale.

And after installing it on my computer, I installed the official patch, then the roster patch.

And now when I play in a game and try to use Freestyle Superstar (C + X, D, E, S, etc.) it doesn't work. For example, for the 3point freestyle superstar, C+D works and does the freestyle for that button. But if I try C + E (E is for dunk) he tries to dunk from the 3point line.

It is like this for all freestyle superstars. What do I do? It worked fine before I installed the patches.

Nothing the patches do should change the way Freestyle Superstars works (certainly not the rosters). It's always been possible to attempt a FSS dunk from beyond the three point line (and fail) in 07 though, which was one of the main criticisms of the way FSS was implemented.

That is not what I am trying to say. Like for example, with Ray Allen (who can't do FSS dunks; he is a shooter) if I try to do a freestyle superstar shot from the 3point line with C+X: he passes, C+E: he dunks, C+S: he tries to do a layup.

Instead, he should be doing a different style shot for each of the those buttons. This only doesn't work when it is a game (team a vs. team b.) FSS works fine in individual practice.

How do you fix this?

I really have no idea what's going on there. If a player's attributes are messed up in the database then FSS won't function properly in any game mode. I'll have a look but I haven't changed anything in v2.7 that would cause that.

From what I can remember, different buttons combined with superstar trigger executed different FSS moves in Live 06, but not in 07. In Live 07 you can only perform those moves by pressing D for a shot, S for layup, E for dunk etc. A move that your player will perform is random.

I think I figured out what the problem is.

So, I unistalled everything: NBA Live 07 and deleted the patch files. Then I reinstalled it and I had the same problem. I was assuming that when you hold C, the FSS button, all other puttons (Pass, Dunk, Shoot, Lay-up) would do something different. For example, if you were Steve Nash (playmaker) I thought that if you push C+D, he would do a different pass than pushing C+X. I was thinking this because this is how it was for NBA Live 06 with gamecube.
Am I right or should u be able to do that? So, my question is: Does C only work with the type of shot button (Pass, Dunk, Shoot, Lay-up) that the FSS type corresponds to?? .. that is 3-point FSS with the shoot button only, highflyer with the dunk button only?

I found this online it explains doing FSS with the keyboard.

***Performing Freestyle Control with Keyboard***

Freestyle Control on the Keyboard is slightly easier. You can perform the
freestyle control by holding on to the "Superstar Trigger" (Default "C" Button
on the Keyboard), and then by pressing one of the following buttons:

Pass Button
Dunk Button
Shoot Button
Lay-Up Button

The variety of moves available depend on which Freestyle Superstar Type your
player is currently in. For example, someone in "Playmaker" mode will be able
to do a no look pass by holding the Superstar Trigger and then pressing
the Pass Button. Power guys and High Flyers would be able to do some crazy
dunks by performing this method. Play around with it in Practice Mode to find
some neat combinations.

Could be a quirk of the keyboard controls, I know it should work fine when using a dual analog gamepad.
