Brief Tutorial of Name Replacing

Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Brief Tutorial of Name Replacing

Postby MeteoRzzy on Fri Feb 20, 2009 2:48 am

Here's the brief tutorial of name replacing without snapshot.
If anyone want the snapshot I'll upload later.

1. Run NBA 2K9 Mini Editor by Hades.

2. Open the roster and find out the player to wan to edit.

You must keep the 2k9 Editor by Hades running when follow the following steps

3. Run UltraEdit and find out the name of the player who you wan to edit.

4. Replace the letter and save.

5. Edit any value of the player you want to edit in 2K9 Editor by Hades and save. You can change it and save first, then change it back and save.

In fact, the only difference between name repacing and hidden dunk and isomotion is you must keep the 2k9 Editor by Hades running at the certain time.
Thx for your support:D

Well, I found this out already. But if I want to change BRYANT to something like FERNANDEZ the game crashes...I mean BRYANT has 6 letters and FERNANDEZ 8, so the game says the roster file is corrupted...

I only know how to repace the letters now. It means that I can only change Bryant to a name which is less than 6 letters.

I see. Then you should change the name of the TUTORIAL to name EDITING,since we cannot replace names. Too bad...

Ok, I still can't figure this one out. How do I change Cooper to Jordan. The lengths match up perfectly... but I'm not sure how on earth to do this. Thanks

Nvmd... figured it out. Thanks for this tutorial. VERY nice indeed. Now Jordan is in the game and has the right color legs, AND the announcers actually say it. Thanks again.

I've been able to do this using the tutorial. The names are generally about 1/8 of the way from the bottom of all of the hex numbers. Scroll about 1/8 of the way up from the bottom, and you'll see the names over on the right hand side of all of the hex data. It'll look something like this:

P.i.p.p.e.n. .R.o.d.m.a.n. .C.o.o.
p.e.r. .C.o.o.p. .X.a.v.i.e.r.M.c.D.

Etc.

Thx for the Tut... and the work you have put in

alas I can not get it to work. I have followed the directions to the letter and It just corupts the file I even tried changing just one simple letter with no success. Very Flustrating. I blame 2k for being retards on capping incoming rookie editing.

Thx again you have helped me regain my franchise.

Quick Note.... First always back up your files before editing them. But Iv found that after editing and loading them into the game everything is great. But when you go to save the file again If you save over the same file its deletes it. You have to create a new save file with a diffrent name before it will be useable again.

Just a heads up guys.

<IN Game>If you load MySeason1 (Do Not try to save over) Myseason1... you MUST create a new save Myseason2 and safely delet your old file and everything is good to go. <IN Game>

But the thing is that it can be done only to generated rookies in assoc mod(I haven't tried that yet) and nba players, cloned to a custom team.
I'll try to experiment with rookies in assoc mod and if I manage to do it, I'll let you know..

Ah... so I can't change Xavier McDaniel to Michael Jordan? THing is, I want to use his profile pic, since it resemble's Jordan somewhat. Right now, I'm using Michael Cooper, just because of the same length name, and the portrait is terrible for Jordan, haha.

I appreciate it. Can I send Jordan/McDaniel to another team, instead of just a created team? That way I can run with them in Association? Thanks eda

You could do a combination of your Jordan IFF file with a texmod version of Jordan's portrait.

Yeah, I could do that... but for some reason, texmod always messes with my game. It always throws textures where they dont' belong, normally at the team select, or it'll show up with a large texture replacing the court, etc. Not sure why, I just don't like dealing with texmod.
