I like the little heartfelt bit on Tyson. Goes to show how deep he is. And it sucks to see that Kidd ain't signing with your Stealth, but hopefully you'll get Nash! Can't wait to see how you "sweeten" the deal. :)

ahh, a David Lee signing would be huge....it's just what your team needs (Y)

it would be a good 3-headed frontcourt with Durant, Lee & Green backing up those two....Morrison can back up SF & SG....Wilcox PF & C....if you sign a good starting PG, then Stealth are going to be a 6-8 seed playoff team for sure....Lee can also play some centre too....

Harris got scooped up but I didn't want him. Ben Gordon was also available too.

Lee, Magloire, Miller, Wilcox, White are a good PF/C rotation. (Y) We're looking a bit thin in the backcourt though. Only have Earl Watson at PG... then we've got Morrison and Tyson at SG... Durant and Green will be fine at SF.

Chapter 13

“We will set you up with a nice place, a new car, anything you want,” Sit proposed.
“He doesn’t need any of that, he could get it all with his own money,” laughed the agent.
Sit decided it was time to spill the beans, “One problem, I can’t offer him the money we were going to offer him. I’m going to go over the cap if I offer him that eleven million dollar contract.”
“Then what are you offering us?”
Sit paused due to nervousness; he was going to blow it, “Eight and a half…”
“Are you kidding me?” Nash’s agent was laughing even harder, “Do you realize he’s being offered big bucks at Minnesota?”
“He will play for a winning team here in Seattle,” Sit boldly stated.
“You can’t guarantee that,” Nash’s agent proclaimed.
“But I can offer you a good chance of playing with a strong team, we have a lot of talent,” Sit replied.
“I will have to speak with Steve but I seriously doubt he would take the bait.”
“Get back to me as soon as you can,” Sit told him.
If Nash didn’t sign with the Stealth, there were no more point guards out there.

Tyson woke up by his mother’s hospital bed, he was holding her hand. She was fast asleep and Tyson smiled. He didn’t want to wake her up so he was trying to be as diligent as he could. He let go of her hand and put it to her side before quietly slipping out of the room. He closed the door behind him and walked down the corridor. He reached the reception area and looked up at the clock. It was close to midnight and he was starving.
“Can you tell me if the cafeteria is still open?” Tyson asked the nurse at reception.
She shook her head and gave him directions to the closest vending machine, which were a few levels down. Tyson made his way to the elevator; it was an old one - same as what the hospital was. The building was kept in very poor condition with some lights flickering on and off. So much for public welfare, Tyson thought to himself. He eventually found the vending machine and put coins into it to buy a drink. He also bought himself a pack of peanut M&Ms. He started to make his way back up to his mother’s room.
“Are you ok?” Tyson noticed an old man with a walking stick struggling to make his way; he was leaning onto the wall for support as he tried to walk.
The man fell over and Tyson rushed over to help him up. The man pointed to a water fountain a few meters in front of them. Tyson figured out that he wanted water so he directed him to take a seat and turned around to look for a plastic cup. Tyson found a stack of them next to the water fountain and filled it up.
The man drank it all and croaked, “Thank you.”
“Mr Jones, there you are!” a voice called out from behind.
The old man beamed.
“Don’t ever do that again!” a nurse looking very stressed out and with a red face sounded stern.
She helped Mr Jones up and looked over at Tyson who was nearly twice as big as the two of them and smiled, “Thank you.”
The two left and Tyson got up to go in the other direction. When Tyson got back up to the reception area, he noticed that the nurse wasn’t there anymore. Must be on a break, he thought. Then he heard people shouting from around the corner. Tyson saw the nurse pass him and returning behind the table. She picked up the phone and frantically punched some digits into the phone. She looked over at Tyson and had a strange look. Suddenly, it hit him. Tyson cursed loudly and ran around the corner to his mom’s room.
“You can’t come in here son,” a male nurse was standing at the door.
“That’s my mom!” Tyson was starting to panic, “Let me see her!”
“You can’t come in!”
Tyson put both hands on his head and backed away. He looked over the nurse’s head and saw another nurse leaning over his mom’s body.
“Check for a pulse! Quick! Someone get another doctor in here please?” the nurse shouted out at the male nurse.
He shouted back, “Cynthia has just gone to call someone.”
“I can’t find a pulse!”
Tyson was now spinning around on the spot, tears were swelling up in his eyes, and he didn’t know what he could do. Then he started to run. He didn’t know where he would go. He just started to run. He ran through the dark corridor when all the lights switched off. And now he was running into darkness.
“Ty!”
Tyson woke up.

Sit received the call that Steve Nash had declined his offer to join Seattle; Portland had made a last minute bid and snapped him up in a hurry. Nash would join Carlos Boozer to form a formidable duo in an already-strong Portland outfit. Jason Kidd was still on the market and Sit thought it was worthwhile to give him one last call.
“Jason, I’m sorry about what happened the other day but I have thought through it and I think a No Trade Clause can be arranged,” Sit offered Kidd.
Kidd didn’t say anything.
“Are you still there?” Sit sounded uncertain.
Kidd replied, “I am but I’m just thinking about it.”
“You don’t want to go back to Dallas.”
“I know.”
“Then take my offer.”
“I will talk to my agent. On a personal standpoint, I am definitely interested.”
“I promise you that this time it won’t fall through.”
“Let me think about it.”
Sit frowned, “All right.”
Kidd hung up first and Sit sat back in his chair to think about the events of the past few days. He had assembled a front court with the signings of David Lee and Jamaal Magloire. They would join forces with Brad Miller, Chris Wilcox, Kevin Durant, and Jeff Green. The backcourt was looking weak though. Adam Morrison only had a mid range jumper and funky facial hair. His backup would be rookie Reshawn Tyson whom Sit didn’t want to have playing too much in his rookie year. He wanted Tyson to work for his minutes. Earl Watson was a solid point guard but not the type that could lead a playoff team.
“I could really use an All-Star like Kidd,” Sit said to himself before holding up his bottle of rum before taking a swig of it.

* * *

Sit decided that it would be perfect to hold the team’s press conference on their basketball court. With microphone stands set up at midcourt on top of the team logo, reporters were seated in one half of the court. Sit announced the signings of Lee and Magloire to the reporters. The two players each took turns to field the press’ questions. Then Sit stepped up to the mic again.
“I need to announce a special signing,” Sit grinned, “This player is going to help us get to the next level. He is coming home and it is an honor to announce that Jason Kidd will play for Seattle!”
Everyone clapped as Kidd, clad in Stealth training gear, ran out from the tunnel leading to the change rooms. Kidd shook hands with Sit and had his chance to front the media. When that was all finished, all three players received their jerseys and took time out to take photos that would appear in the news the next day.
Sit watched on and said to his buddy Vince Thompson, “Hey Vince, this is it.”
“What’s it?”
“This is how a legend is born.”

Another excellent piece of writing man... Great job on finally signing a point guard... Kidd will definitely help your young guys and will keep Durant's ego from growing even more... :applaud:

But you shouldve just got me on draft night, that would have solved your problem much earlier.. Just kidding.. :D

Nice chapter mate, I like that you got Kidd over Nash, dont know why just seem to like it more, but even better is your signing of David Lee! I love that move, he will be a great addition to your side. You would have a great small ball line-up with Lee/Green/Durant/Tyson/Kidd.

Looking forward to the next update. Cant wait to see how Im doing in Charlotte.

The story so far...

Seattle Stealth Sign Three New Players

August 22, 2009

The Seattle Stealth splashed their money out on some risky investments with veteran PG Jason Kidd returning to his Oakland roots at the age of 36. He will be joined by 31 year old C Jamaal Magloire and 26 year old PF David Lee.

With the trading away of last season’s starting PG Russell Westbrook to Charlotte, the Stealth were able to come away with the signature of Kidd, a legend of his generation. Kidd’s contract runs for 4 years with a unique no trade clause, which will take him all the way to the age of 40. Magloire signed on for 2 years while Lee, a former Knick, also signed for 4 years.

Kidd was lured to Seattle with the idea of returning to Oakland, where he grew up. He was also impressed with Seattle’s professionalism and vision. “The GM (Will Sit) showed me his plan to make the Stealth a winning squad over the next year and I wanted to be a part of it. I was very impressed with his plan,” Kidd told reporters at a press conference where he, Magloire, and Lee were introduced. Kidd is the stereotypical veteran leader that the club has worked hard to acquire during the offseason.

At 6’4” and having played 16 years in the NBA, Kidd averaged 15.1 ppg last season, his highest scoring average since the 03-04 season. He also averaged 7.3 rpg, which is very impressive for a guard, and 11.2 apg. His 2.3 spg were his highest average since the 98-99 season. Kidd was also an All-Star last season and made the All-Defensive First team and All-NBA Second team.

Kidd has also played with Stealth star Kevin Durant when they were trialing for the USA’s Olympic Team for the 2008 Olympics. Kidd holds Durant in high regard, “Kevin Durant is a great kid and also a great player. I am thoroughly looking forward to playing with him.”

Meanwhile, Magloire gives the Stealth a second option at the centre position and the 6’11” 265 lbs from Kentucky will battle All-Star Brad Miller for a starting spot. The 10 year pro averaged 6.5 rebounds a game last season and is looking forward to playing in Seattle. Magloire said, “Seattle has a good side. We have David and myself joining Brad (Miller) and Chris (Wilcox). I see that as a fairly big front court rotation at centre and power forward.”

The 6’9” David Lee is expected to come into the side and provide much needed assistance on the glass for Seattle. With current starting PF Chris Wilcox not being a very strong rebounder, the Stealth were pleased to entice Lee. The former Florida Gator hold career averages of 9.2 ppg and 8.4 rpg. “I am looking forward to coming in and making an impact,” Lee told reporters.

Seattle’s C Johan Petro and G Damien Wilkins also agreed to sign new deals with the Stealth yesterday, pushing the roster to 14 players.

Nice Article mate, it seems with a lot of Dynastys (Especially when I play) that people seem to always trade for youth, however I like how your bringing in what is best for your vision of the team, regardless of age.

PLAYER TO WATCH

The Seattle Stealth splashed a lot of money on 36 year old Jason Kidd and not many people understood why. Many are concerned that the Stealth, who gave him a four year contract, are taking a major risk. The truth is that this is true because signing Kidd to a four year deal at his age is a high risk investment. Many are already guessing about when he will start to decline in skill and/or health.

However, with high risk comes high reward and the Stealth must believe that Kidd has something special to offer the team. The Stealth saw enough value in Kidd’s play, not just on the court but also off it to justify signing him to so much money and for so long in time. Last season, Kidd was still playing at a very high level and if stats are any indication, statistically Kidd has his best season since the 02-03 season when he was with New Jersey. Kidd averaged the most points since the 02-03 season and the most steals since the 98-99 season. His assists average was good for first in the League. “He seems a bit slower,” one Eastern Conference scout admits, “But he is still playing at such a high level. John Stockton played at a high level for a very long time too so I am not surprised. Jason keeps his body in great condition.”

Seattle desperately needed a voice on and off the court in a turmoil-filled locker room that imploded at the end of the last season. In signing Kidd, the team got what they had wished for. Kidd will enjoy returning home to play in Oakland, where he lived as a child and used to play against Gary Payton whilst growing up. The Stealth will go as far as Kidd can lead them and the Stealth Front Office obviously believes that Kidd could lead them to the title hunt one day. That day sould be soon as Kidd’s body clock is ticking.

SEASON OUTLOOK

The signings of Kidd, David Lee, and Jamaal Magloire will help Seattle in the short term. General Manager Will Sit has assembled a solid team that should find its way back into the postseason. The front court rotation features plenty of versatility and size.

Brad Miller and Jamaal Magloire are both quality big men who will hold down the fort inside the paint. The two complement each other well with Miller better offensively while Magloire better on defense. Miller’s all-around game helped him reach the All-Star team last season for the third time in his career; his passing and scoring ability are key to Seattle’s success. Magloire, an All-Star in 2003, is a solid rebounder and post defender.

David Lee, Chris Wilcox, and DJ White will share time at the power forward position with most signs indicating that Lee will start from the start of the season. The Stealth was very poor on the boards last season and Lee will help to rectify that problem; Lee nearly averaged a double double for New York. Wilcox may become unhappy with his new role in Seattle although he would be better to play with the second unit and focus on scoring, which is more of a strength of his.

Kevin Durant followed up a successful rookie year with a solid second year. In his third season campaign, the former Texas Longhorn will get to play small forward for the whole season. Durant’s game has progressed a lot since he entered the league and expect him to lead the team in scoring again. Jeff Green will serve as a solid back up. Jason Kidd comes to join forces with Earl Watson, the two should prove to be a productive duo. Kidd’s ability to rack up assists by finding open team mates and Watson’s shooting touch should keep opponents on their heels.

The weakest link on this team is at shooting guard. Adam Morrison should get the starting nod but he is not as athletic as his team mates, which sometimes makes him a liability. If he is able to develop a consistent shot from outside the arc, he could become a much more valuable player to the team. Although Jeff Green could start at this spot, Green is a great bench player and leader of the second unit. Seattle’s third pick, Reshawn Tyson, does not look like a part of the equation right now. He is still a talent that needs to be developed and not rushed into the scheme of things.

The Jason Kidd signing was a coup for Seattle while Lee and Magloire should help this team with their rebounding and ability to defend the paint. Unfortunately, the Stealth still lack a solid second scoring option. The season should be interesting for Seattle; they have a lot of potential.
