CHAPTER 3: Make Or Break Time

Just two weeks into his tenure as general manager of the Suns, Liam Washburn has known that he was walking on thin ice. Essentially being on borrowed time before a more experienced GM would be hired, he knew he would need to do something drastic to keep his job. The Suns were holding onto a 29-23 record: the playoffs not at all a certainty, a title out of the question, and too late to strike big in the lottery.

It was February 19th, the NBA's trade deadline. He had made several calls about star forward Amare Stoudamire, declined a ridiculous offer by the Cavs for all-star Shaquille O'Neal, and had several deals in progress to deal with. 12:52 PM... Just over 2 hours left. 'Shit,' he thought, biting his nails.

Replacing coach Terry Porter with newbie Alvin Gentry was a move that gave the team an expected jolt, but Liam knew of the new coach bounce and that it wouldn't fix the Suns' problems. Seeing that the Blazers declined the offer of First Rounder + Amare for Aldridge + Bayless + LaFrentz, Liam punched a hole in the wall, the third that day.

Giving up on getting equal talent for Amare, the rookie GM decided to instead look in to expiring contracts. He asked the Cavs for Wally Szczerbiak (declined), Mavericks for Jason Kidd (declined) and Knicks for a package of expiring Isiah monstrosity deals before finally getting a better deal than he could have possibly hoped for.

"We're mediocre, you're mediocre; lets give it a shot", the last sentence of the e-mail wrote. Washburn, jumping with joy, quickly sent out a counter-offer, and everyone lived happily ever after.

Meanwhile, in Seattle...

"Hello?", Silas said, picking up the phone.

"IS THIS LIAM WASHBURN SPEAKING", a menacing voice spoke.

"Have you been living under a rock? He lives in Phoenix now. He is their general manager!"

"I SEE. THANK YOU. GOODBYE."

"Uh, yeah, bye," Silas muttered timidly.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA", cackled the menacing voice maniacly,

"I'm still on the other line", said Silas.

"OH, RIGHT. HOW EMBARRASSING", the menacing voice said, hanging up.

I suck at writing now. Not that my past chapters were any good, but this is fucking horrible. But, I suppose it is necessary to get this going again. Tune in next time to see what trades happened and stuff!

This dynasty idea wasn't very fleshed out at all.

To elaborate: I have had probably five association blueprints, but all of them were premature, overly ambitious ideas that I screwed up and lacked the motivation to follow through with.

Now that my interest in the NBA is finally returning, you might be seeing a dynasty from me, just a low-key, old-fashioned one like my Warriors or Blazers.
