granthill33, I didn't take your comments negatively at all. I appreciate your help to make this Parker better and I do need that help ;)

It would'nt be hard for you to close the mouth a little because I've alredy made it less open as you suggested. Please dont get me wrong, I always appreciate your help and I always have a positive attitude towards you :D All I'm saying is, we together can make the best Parker by improving the existing ebo. What I meant is a new ebo isn't neccessary but we could get the best results just by tweaking this one :P I've already tweaked the ebo to remove the edgy part and I've added more facial hair in the bhed. Please see the preview below ;) Bear in mind, my attitude towards everyone here in NLSC are always positive unless you made me think otherwise

Oh, and please call me Jom :) But if you're too lazy to type but just click on my username when replying then that's alright ;)

Mr. 468, blur tool? Where bro Kris I dont get what you're saying. If you are saying that Parker looks blurred in the preview then dont be surprise. That Parker you're seeing in the preview is in 1x because urh28 converted it. I've already converted it back to 2x. See the preview below ;)

This is how Parker looks like after I had added more facial hair, fix the edgy part, fix the shape of the lower lips and converted the bhed into 2x :D

Right now I'm fixing the close mouth version, the hairline is way off :|

I mean are you still using the smudge tool in cs3? cuz it seems like some of the edges are being smudged ;)

Fri Jul 04, 2008 8:25 pm

It looks good enought for me.. Waiting to see the colsed mounth version.. But anyway congrats on what you do in this ebo.. Now looks better bro (Y)

Fri Jul 04, 2008 8:35 pm

Edges? The edges we were talking about were the edges of the headshapes, not the edges in the bhed ;)

The ebo used to have pointy joints which create edges all over the top of Parker's head.

And I didn't use smudge tool to smudged anything. As a matter of fact, I never touch that tool :D

GazuN, thanks..finally it looks better ;) I'm now working on the close mouth version. The hairlines are way off :| What I'm doing is closing the mouth in the open mouth version. If I just edit the hairline in the close mouth version, I will never get it exactly the same so the best way would be to close the mouth in the open mouth version and save it somewhere else. That way we'll have two identical ebo, one with close mouth and the other with open mouth ;)

Modifly, i got you bro jom... ;)

granthill33, glad to hear that you feel what I'm saying ;) We're easy to tune in, if you know what I mean

So how does the latest Parker look to you? I'd like to hear your thoughts regarding the latest preview :D

Sat Jul 05, 2008 12:17 am

it looks great... some more tweaks and it'll be perfect ;) ;) ;)

Sat Jul 05, 2008 1:18 am

granthill33, glad to hear that it looks great from your point of view. However, if you think ever think that something is bad then you dont have to lie to make me feel good ;) I shall send you the ebo for further tweaks in... 10 minutes. Give me sometime to finish writing this post :P

After a lot of time spent on tweaking both the bhed and ebo, I present to you this Mbenga. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first release since our Ultimate Kobe Pack. In simpler words, it is the first release in one month time.

Sat Jul 05, 2008 12:05 pm

Two comments.... :? You guys knows what I'm thinking ;)

Peter_Lustig wrote:ohhhh yeahh why did you need so long time for it??? :P

I took so long because I look into all the little details on the face so that I can create the best Mbenga possible. ;) That includes many times of tweaking in the ebo which is a complicated process and will take up a lot of time :P

No problem man.. cheers on the completion of your Lakers CF collection. Glad to know that my Mbenga played a part in making your Lakers realistic :D

Modifly, i don't know if this comment has been made about your parker (too lazy to read all of 'em  ), but i think the problem is with his eyebrows. the edges are kinda unclear as to where the brows end. maybe that's why Mr. 468 asked if you were using the smudge tool. coz the brows are like smudged with the forehead. i know it's meant for shadows, but i think it's not achieving that effect.

just my opinion. :D

First of all, thank you for looking into the details and helping me to spot the mistakes. People like you is exactly what I need, someone to help me by posting useful comments and helping me fix it by joting down suggestions + opinion. Too bad that these kind of people hardly exists :?

Um.. my answer is No. I did not smudged the brows with the forehead nor do blur it. ;) You made a good point though, the end of the brows are kinda unclear which makes it a bit weird. However, after reading your comments I immediately compared my bhed with the photo I used.
What I noticed is that the eyebrows are the same in the photo, unclear edges and blurred. I made a little screen to make comparison as well as to help you understand what I mean ;)

Image
Please note that the bhed looks blurred because the save format is JPEG, it will cause a lost in quality. The real bhed is not blurred like you can see!

Anywho, I think my brows should be more detailed and sharper. I will renew the details of the brows and sharpen it a bit :D

Thanks for helping me work! I need more people like you, honestly.

Thanks again for your opinion! I certainly could do with more of them..

Thanks for great DJ Mbenga, accurate work! (Y) (Y)

Modifly, can you make Roy Hibbert?

No problem for Mbenga bro... it's my pleasure to serve the community with my work. ;)

I will make Roy Hibbert if someone could find me a good picture of him..
I tried finding a picture of him just now and I couldn't find one good enough for a CF..

If someone provide me with a decend picture of Roy Hibbert then I would definitely make him ;)

For Parker, headshape is quite accurate now, you are actually improving your ebo editing skills very fast. However, u need to BLEND the face a lot more. Now it's half brown/yellowish and half white-ish. I'm sure you know what I mean :P Face color must be similar to body color.
Also if possible, fix the skintone a bit, he should be darker than that.
Other than that, move the hairline on both sides inwards a bit on the bhed. Then it'll be gr8. (and close his mouth on ebo if possible  )

Another piece of advice for you is that try to treat patching as an interest thing and passion rather than a competition. U r patching more for fun rather than for comments, don't you? If it's the 2nd case, that may violate the purpose of patching a lil bit imo  Hopefully my advice can encourage you continue patching. ;)

Thanks for that long comment bro :P

Now let me answer your post by breaking up the bulk.

njkobe wrote:For Parker, headshape is quite accurate now, you are actually improving your ebo editing skills very fast.

Thank you for praising my ebo editing skills, but I still got a lot of things to learn and improve. ;)

njkobe wrote:However, u need to BLEND the face a lot more. Now it's half brown/yellowish and half white-ish. I'm sure you know what I mean :P Face color must be similar to body color.

Now the blending. I realised that I have to blend the face better, but allow me to explain why it's half brown/yellowish and half whiteish.
The brown part you are talking about, I believe is his facial hair. If you compare that part with a real photo of Tony Parker when he grows his facial hair, you will see that it is quite accurate. The whiteish part I believe is the "shine" on the face caused by the use of a real photo. I will not fix that part because it enables realistic shines on the face. ;)
As for the yellowish part, that is truly a flaw in the bhed. I will fix all the yellowish part and blend it to its surrounding. I'll also make a custom skintone for him which means he will be darker as you suggested.

njkobe wrote:Other than that, move the hairline on both sides inwards a bit on the bhed. Then it'll be gr8. (and close his mouth on ebo if possible  )

Now the hairline. (phew, I'm getting tired already :shifty:)
After observing a few photos of Parker, I agreed to move the hairline on both sides of the head inward a bit. Thanks for reminding me!

Oh, and there will be two models of the ebo, close and open mouth ;)

njkobe wrote:Another piece of advice for you is that try to treat patching as an interest thing and passion rather than a competition. And here comes the most important part..
Believe me bro, I am very passionate about patching therefore it is an interesting thing to me. :D I never treath patching as something to waste my free time or to do as a hobby, I have a lot of love and soul for it. To be honest, I am not patching for fun at all. Neither do I patch for comments. I patch for happiness of other people and myself because this is what I love to do and will continue to do. I'm happy when I see that other people like my work and that made my day. But doing all this I expect a little something in return. A comment from each and everyone of you to help me improve my work each time you browse in my thread, that's all. Now if I'm asking too much then I apologize, but that's just being me. I dont think I violated any purpose of patching, but I'm going along with it like a paralell line. I never see patching as a competition. It may sound like I do from the way I talk (or type if you prefer), but I assure you that I never see patching as a competitive thing. As I always say, "there is always room for another patcher". I am always aware of the fact that NLSC is one community and all the members here behave as one. Therefore I dont see anyone as my competitors but friends and mates which will help make Live better. ;) In fact, I'm more like the third case - patch, see comments, be happy, release, see other people happy, continue to patch. :D
Your advice did encourage me to continue patching, but I am always entitled to do that anyway. I was a bit drunk the other night when I said I will retire in MSN..

Thank you njkobe, expect to see more work from me soon! ;)

And for others, there will be a revolutionary in CF patching here in NLSC soon... all I can reveal right now is that it includes me, granthill33, GazuN and counting.. look forward to the surprise! :D

Sorry for double posting, but I cant really help it when no one bothers to put their comment between two of mine. ;)

Anyway, I felt that it was time to swing momentum. I'm stuck with Parker a little bit too long than I should so I was seeking something different. I'm pretty much on my own now since CKal will not be able to make any headshapes for the next two months.

What I did was dig up an old ebo and started editing it.
I hope you like it, you can bite me if you dont. :P

Note that this is not a full preview yet. I've still got some blending issue to fix, so this preview is just to show you where I'm at approximately.

What to expect in the next preview:

- Better Blending
- Some tweak in the ebo
- More assists from CP3

What to prepare for the release:

- Hammer and nails
- 200 KB free harddisk space (maximum)
- A good mood

The profile one shows that the ebo needs some retouching, but the frontal picture looks perfect.
