WASHINGTON (AP) — Forty-Two long year's waiting has finally ended. John Wall was voted as the 2011 League MVP.
"I first want to thank my family, my coach, the Washington Wizards organization, my team-mates, Kentucky, everyone that has helped me accomplish this goal of mine," said Wall as he spoke about privileged he was on accepting and winning the award.
The Last Washington Wizard to receive the award was back in 1969, and the hall of famer went by the name Wes Unseld.
"John Wall is the league's best player," said coach Flip Saunder to the media after the ceremony. "It's an award he thoroughly deserved, he deserved it last year, but I guess, a one year wait really paid off, he's such a dynamic baller, he's just the best."
Wall averaged 20.8 points per game, 15.2 assists per game, 4.0 steals per game and hit 48% of his field goals.
