I didn't expect to either, I was happy enough just to get into overtime, where I thought I'd get beat like I usually do. It was a nice win.

This is my third try doing this...

Rivalry Match!

The Bobcats are coming. They finally have a solid core with Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, and Raymond Felton all possible All-Stars at this point in the season. The Domination have impressed strong teams in only their second season as a team, with Jared Dudley and Tyson Chandler possibly making the All-Star Team. Wilson Chandler and Corey Harrington have been great contributors so far as well. However, one team has to be the best team in North Carolina, and both teams want that title BAD.

Line-Ups:

CHA:
Starters: Chris Andersen, Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, Raymond Felton
Bench: Kwame Brown, Axel Gomez, Gerald Henderson, Ian Mahinmi, Spencer Hawes, Salim Stoudamire, (DJ Augustin {sprained ankle} may not play).

NCD:
Starters: Tyson Chandler, Wilson Chandler, Jared Dudley, Shannon Brown, Corey Harrington
Bench: Walter Herrmann, Acie Law, DeJuan Blair, Brandan Wright, Pete Williams, Anthony Morrow, Adam Morrison.

Contest #2

2. North Carolina's final score? (1 point) {within 10}

3. North Carolina's leading scorer? (1 point)

4. His point total? (1 point) {within 5}

5. North Carolina's best rebounder? (1 point)

6. His rebound total? (1 point) {within 2}

I'll push the contest due date back to Monday if everyone can't get on. Something weird's going on with the forums for some people, me included, so I'm staying off for now. I'm watching the Bobcats game. See ya!

Bobcats Win Again In Ongoing Battle For The State Of NC

With Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton each scoring 32 points, the Bobcats had consistent offense. The Bobcats had superb rebounding numbers from Josh Smith (16), Gerald Wallace (11), and Birdman (10). Heck, Birdman even had seven blocks! Without their sixth man, D.J. Augustin, they still played strong, because Augustin's backup point guard had a career night. After tying his career-high of nine points four times already, rookie Axel Gomez finally broke onto the double-digit scoring scene while Raymond Felton took a break in the early fourth quarter. The Bobcats played as a solid team and played as a fourth-seeded team should.

The Domination, on the other hand, were still struggling to make baskets, defend, and a majority of the team was in desperate foul trouble. Eventually, only Corey Harrington would foul out (with zero points and five assists), but most North Carolina players had at least four fouls. This lead to Raymond Felton's career-high 27 free-throw attempts, of which he made 21. Wilson Chandler was able to escape foul trouble and finished solid with 15 and 9. However, he missed a crucial three-pointer with a minute left that would have tied the score at 109. Instead, Gerald Wallace grabbed the rebound and the final-minute fouling began. (As in, the Domination kept on doing what they'd been doing all night. lol) The Domination know that the Bobcats are a very hard team to beat, and they will put the loss behind them and move on.

Kinda bummed about the loss, but the Bobcats are among the top teams now. Still 3-3 is a great record for an expansion team and we're gonna get better!

NC Domination [4-5] Three-Game Recap + A Chandler-Blair Feud

Postby rise on Thu Mar 17, 2011 5:50 am

Jared Dudley Loses An Unofficial Three-Point Contest In Tough Loss to Philly

It really was a three-point contest. The participants were North Carolina's Shannon Brown, Jared Dudley, Anthony Morrow, and Philadelphia's Daniel Gibson. While Anthony Morrow may have won the contest, his teammates killed him in the real game. Brown and Dudley chucked 5-16 from deep, while Morrow went 6-10 and Gibson 5-10. In the midst of the three-pointer wars, other guys were trying to play the game. Daniel Gibson did both. He had NINETEEN assists, because he noticed the other offensive outlets on his team - like Thaddeus Young and rookie Predrag Morinoskovic. They would score very efficiently and eventually take the game over in the final minute to give the 76ers the win.

The Domination didn't go quietly. Tyson Chandler crashed the boards, played very stingy defense, and racked up 17 points. When Shannon Brown wasn't chucking up threes, he played a solid defensive game as well. Acie Law only scored two points, but he dished six assists. stole the ball three times, and didn't turn over the ball at all. However, anything good that happened was put on the back burner toward the end of the third quarter.

Adam Morrison was fighting with Andreas Nocioni for a rebound off of a missed three from Jared Dudley. Both were shoving each other and suddenly Adam Morrison was on the ground, writhing and holding his left knee. Morrison, his leg unable to support his own weight, was helped into the locker room. An X-Ray and an MRI confirmed a badly sprained knee and that Morrison would miss a minimum of six weeks before a slow return. Morrison, a starter last season, has been struggling all season and will probably continue to struggle with the injury. Although it is serious, the injury is nowhere as bad as the ACL tear that kept him out of action his entire sophomore season when he was with the Bobcats. However, it is still serious. The Domination will find a way around Morrison's possible two-month absence.

PHI: 32|57|89|112| Daniel Gibson: 29 points (8-13 FG%, 5-10 3P%, 8-9 FT%), 19 assists, 5 rebounds, 0 blocks, 3 steals, 9 turnovers, 3 fouls.
NCD: 26|58|78|105| Anthony Morrow: 20 points (7-11 FG%, 6-10 3P%, 0-0 FT%), 2 assists, 0 rebounds, 2 blocks, 0 steals, 4 turnovers, 2 fouls.

Domination Cruise To Victory With Harrington's Dunk

It all happened before David Lee's eyes. With under three seconds left, Corey Harrington took the inbound pass from Wilson Chandler and dunked the ball, just before the buzzer sounded. For the first time since the second quarter, the Domination had the lead and it was there to stay. The third overall draft pick had been having his worst shooting game of his entire college and NBA career, just 2-14 from the field and suddenly the moment as just right. "Suddenly, my teammates were all over me, sayin' 'You did it! You did it!' and I was just standing there screaming. I didn't think about it, my first game winner of my NBA career - I was just so surprised, after such a bad game, I was able to make up for my missed shots and I won the game for my team."

He wasn't the only player with bad shooting stats. Shannon Brown, Jared Dudley, Anthony Morrow, and Acie Law had their difficulties, but the main difficulty was controlling Golden State's eight-man roster - particularly Stephen Curry, who scored 40. Also notable on the Golden State stat sheet are Battier's five blocks, rookie guard Marc Jacobs' four blocks, and Jason Terry's seven steals. Golden State has started to add defense and continues to channel their offense through very solid scorers. However, Golden State was looking tired late in the game, and it finally got to David Lee in the last five seconds. They should probably add more guys to the roster.

GSW: 20|46|68|92| Stephen Curry: 40 points (14-18 FG%, 7-10 3P%, 5-8 FT%), 1 rebound, 3 assists, 4 steals, 0 blocks, 7 turnovers, 2 fouls.
NCD: 19|51|71|93| Tyson Chandler: 20 points (10-20 FG%, 0-0 3P%, 0-1 FT%), 19 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks, 6 turnovers, 2 fouls.

Dudley's 36 Can't Lift Domination Over Jazz

The Jazz rise to 5-5 with their close win over the Domination after a balanced attack included every active player. Everyone had a role, even the bench players. All the starters crossed double-digits except for Paul Millsap, who got double-digit rebounds. Deron Williams made great plays all night, while Gordon Hayward was a point off of tying a career-high in points. Badu Thomas, the rookie that reminds everyone of the Round Mound of Rebound, logged 12 rebounds in just a quarter of the game. He's shown promise all season and the Jazz feel good about knowing they have a solid backup in case Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson goes down - 6'6 Badu Thomas.

Once again, "The Core" Corey Harrington logs a solid defensive performance (five steals) and gargantuan assist totals, but he's also improving on scoring after a pitiful 2-14 showing before throwing down the game winning dunk at the buzzer. He's scored 12 tonight and hopes to improve on that. Something else he's improved at is getting Jared Dudley the ball where he can score in bunches. J-Dud scored 36, while Tyson Chandler racked up another double-double, and Acie Law dumped in four three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Also, DeJuan Blair and Tyson Chandler both made three-pointers: something these centers aren't famous for doing. Chandler mentioned after the game he was trying to improve his range and that "the basket was a reminder that perfecting eighteen-foot jumpers isn't out of the question for me."

DeJuan Blair, passing by as the team entered the locker room said, "Your first three-pointer don't mean shit, especially if you've spent ten damn years in the league. You gotta make more to prove that you know how to shoot. You start struttin' up and down the damn court, sayin' you don't need work on your jump shot I'll fuckin' smack you upside the head." Chandler, who had had enough of Blair constantly sniping at him about his early slip, whirled around and "fuckin' smacked DeJuan Blair upside the head", sending him crashing into a locker. He pinned Blair to a locker and growled, "Score more than seven points in a game then, smart ass. If you'd scored on more than three of your ten shots then maybe we might've won." He slammed Blair against the lockers, narrowly dodged a nearby Anthony Morrow, and subsequently hit the showers.

Unfortunately, the sniping continues.

UTA: 24|49|82|120| Gordon Hayward: 26 points (11-17 FG%, 4-7 3P%, 0-0 FT%), 1 assist, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 0 blocks, 1 turnover, 1 foul.

Could Ammo Be Out Until The All-Star Break?

Image

In Mid-December, Adam Morrison badly sprained his knee after being tripped up by Andreas Nocioni during a fight for a rebound. "Our legs kind of got caught in each other, and my knee twisted the wrong way. I initially thought I'd torn my ACL again and I was wondering if this could be the end of my career. So naturally, I was almost thrilled to hear the doctors say it was only a moderate sprain and that I would be out no more than a couple months." No surgery will be done on left knee, which Ammo had previously injured severely in his sophomore season. Morrison could miss between 6-10 weeks.

Injured Batum Finally Traded

ImageImage<<< >>>ImageImage

Nic Batum has missed eleven months with a critically injured shoulder. He had been traded from Portland to North Carolina and injured his shoulder in one of his first games with his new team. His season ended in a snap (literally) and his career almost snapped as well. His return could be near, but he is not the same exciting player he was a year ago. His shoulder will probably limit his career, and North Carolina doesn't want to have to deal with that. They sent away Batum and little-used center Nikola Pekovic to San Antonio for improving swingman Mario West and an ancient, likely-to-retire Antonio McDyess. West is an up-and-coming player in the league. Out of nowhere, he averaged 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in a three-game absence of Manu Ginobili and Richard Jefferson. In the final game of those three, he also showed off some clutch ability and nailed a game-winning 18-footer in David Lee's face. "We're thrilled to welcome Mario West to our squad. He brings athleticism and determination to this team and we hope he can make some big contributions."

DeJuan Blair Won't Play Against Orlando, Could Be Traded

ImageImage

In an effort to stop the feuding between centers Tyson Chandler and DeJuan, Zee Otoo has stopped playing the two at the same time. Now that that's failed as well, he has pulled Blair out of the lineup against Orlando altogether in the hope DeJuan Blair will quit resuming the constant arguments. "If this fails, trading may be the only option, and I'm sad to say it would be Blair. I don't want to trade either player, but the impact Tyson Chandler has on the court is far superior than Blair's strong defense. It would kill me to trade DeJuan, our first center, but it might be my only option." Tyson Chandler is averaging a double-double, while DeJuan Blair struggles to reach 5 points and 5 rebounds a contest.

Jamaal Tinsley Signed To Ten-Day Contract

Image

Sources have confirmed that recently traded Antonio McDyess was released to make room for point guard Jamaal Tinsley. Tinsley averaged 5.6 points and 4.3 assists in 19 games with Golden State last season, before spraining his wrist twice. He was resigned by Golden State this offseason, but was waived two weeks before the regular season began. He averaged six points, three rebounds, and three assists in three preseason games.

Domination Win In Tight Battle vs. Orlando

It was a pretty balanced contest on both sides. No one scored 20 or more points; Mickael Pietrus led all scorers with 18 points. The only dominating player was not from North Carolina. Dwight Howard grabbed 20 of Orlando's 23 rebounds and blocked six shots, all without fouling once. Tyson Chandler contained him somewhat, only letting Howard attempt five shots all game. Chandler, without his backup DeJuan Blair, recorded another double-double with team-highs of sixteen points and ten rebounds. Orlando hit a roadblock in the early fourth quarter. Brandon Bass sprained his ankle just 45 seconds after being subbed in for the first time all game. This might have been a deciding factor in a game so close. The real deciding factor was Acie Law's four-point play with 21.7 seconds on the clock to put the Domination up by five. Jameer Nelson hit a three nineteen seconds later, but the Jared Dudley outran Mickael Pietrus with the ball for the last three seconds and was not fouled. The Domination won by two- 84-82.

ORL: 27|48|61|82| Dwight Howard: 11 points (5-5 FG%, 0-0 3P%, 1-5 FT%), 20 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 6 blocks, 0 fouls, 3 turnovers

Jamaal Tinsley Out, James White In

Image

After Jamaal Tinsley's ten-day contract expired, the Domination signed high-flying, 6'7 guard James White for the remainder of the season. Zee Otoo said earlier in a press conference, "This one's for the fans! Fans love James White and his big dunks. They really do and I do too." White has signed five ten-day contracts with various teams throughout the season, including Boston, Houston (twice), Charlotte, and Miami. White has averaged 2.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in ten games. "He may not play well on the perimeter or as a ball-handler, but he gets his way in the paint, because he'll take off from just about anywhere and show you why his nickname is 'Flight'," according to Zee Otoo. He will wear jersey #1.

North Carolina Dominates In Overtime

Looks like Steve Nash caught fire today, huh? 53 and 12? There's a reason he averages over 20 points a game, even though he approaches 38 years old. Of course, half those points came from free throws, but he still got eight three-pointers, a season-high. When Nash wasn't scoring, he was passing the rock to Jason Richardson, who scored 30, also a top scorer in the league.

Let's talk about another high-performing point guard: North Carolina's Corey Harrington. He scored 28 points, dished the rock for 14 assists and chalked up FOUR STEALS AND FOUR BLOCKS! Let that stat line sink in. Jared Dudley also got 27 points, along with 22 from Shannon Brown. It was a huge game for both sides, and at the end of regulation, the NBA's top scoring team, by almost ten points more than any other team, (121.3 points per game) was suddenly in overtime with a year-old expansion team. In just a couple more minutes they found themselves buried in an eleven-point hole after an extremely quick offensive explosion by the Domination. The Domination scored 19 in overtime, dropping the Suns by nine.

PHX: 27|57|90|124||134| Steve Nash: 53 points (career-high) (10-19 FG%, 8-15 3P%, 25-28 FT%), 12 assists, 1 rebound, 3 steals, 0 blocks, 9 turnovers, 4 fouls.
NCD: 31|54|86|124||143| Corey Harrington: 28 points (11-17 FG%, 1-3 3P%, 5-7 FT%), 14 assists, 1 rebound, 4 steals, 4 blocks, 7 turnovers, 6 fouls.

Portland Can't Stay With the Domination Despite Huge Game By Roy

Finally, Corey Harrington posts an awesome defensive statline, while staying out of foul trouble! He boasted seven steals, one short of Jerryd Bayless's franchise record. He also had 7 assists, 3 blocks, and 4 rebounds with 14 points and just two fouls. Walter Herrmann had a perfect game, 11 points, 6 rebounds, and no fouls or turnovers, while Tyson Chandler took home another double-double. Even uber-slumping DeJuan Blair was able to grab nine rebounds.

Unfortunately on this great day, Jared Dudley was addicted to attempting threes while being guarded by Lamarcus Aldridge. Anyone who's seen Aldridge play defense since October knows this is a bad idea. Aldridge grabbed sixteen rebounds (all defensive) and blocked five shots (all on Dudley). He's a clear top-20 player in the NBA this season, while playing like someone deserving a DPOY award. His newly-found passing abilities gave Brandon Roy opportunities for big shots. Both are playing like All-Stars. The team is looking like a championship team. Backup point guards Shaun Livingston and rookie Willie Lewis have solid impacts when Darren Collison has off-days, like today: 6 points, 6 turnovers, and 5 fouls.

How did North Carolina beat such a strong team nearly playing at their best? Portland's still trying to figure that one out as they play the Celtics tomorrow night, and the Domination have never looked better, pulling off a three-game win streak against Orlando, Phoenix, and Portland, all title contenders.

POR: 23|51|70|96| Brandon Roy: 33 points (12-22 FG%, 7-14 3P%, 2-3 FT%), 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 0 blocks, 4 turnovers, 0 fouls

NYK: 87 - Mitchell Jones: 16 points, 16 rebounds | Walter Sharpe: 15 points, 3 steals | Stoudemire: injured - sprained ankle, 15 points, 5 rebounds.
NCD: 95 - Jared Dudley: 21 points, 10 rebounds | Corey Harrington: 17 points, 5 steals | Tyson Chandler: 5 points, 7 rebounds.

Domination Push Winning Streak To 5, Beat Slumping Denver

Shooting a career-high 8-10 from three-point range, Jared Dudley led his team to their fifth straight win. He torched Denver with 39 points, but he wasn't without help. Tyson Chandler put up an amazingly well-rounded statline. Though he only scored seven points, he posted 14 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 blocks, and 4 steals. He was only a steal short of a five-by-five, and just three points and an assist off a triple-double. He completed this with only one foul and one turnover. Corey Harrington once again put up solid defensive numbers, registering three steals and two blocks, with seven assists, and nine points. Zee Otoo, interviewed soon after the game said, "He gets better defensively every night. He tries so much to be the best player he can be and it's really paying off for him."

For Denver, Carmelo, Billups, J.R., and Al Harrington played their parts. Chauncey Billups played better than he has all season with 24 points, 18 assists, and 9 rebounds, one rebound shy of a triple-double. Al Harrington and J.R. Smith added an extra scoring punch, combining for 46 points, while Carmelo Anthony showed off his newly-found defensive skills with two blocks and four steals. They came up short in the late third quarter, when they lost a six-point lead, and it turned into an eight-point deficit within two minutes. North Carolina never gave the lead back, and the Domination won by nine.

DEN: 27|56|80|105| Chauncey Billups: 24 points (9-17 FG%, 4-10 3P%, 2-2 FT%), 9 rebounds, 18 assists, 3 steals, 0 blocks, 3 fouls, 3 turnovers
NCD: 27|58|88|114| Jared Dudley: 39 points (13-24 FG%, 8-10 3P%, 5-5 FT%), 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 0 blocks, 4 fouls, 3 turnovers

Domination Win Six Straight With Strong Win Over Atlanta, Horford Injured

Atlanta fans watched fan favorites Boris Diaw and Joe Johnson score 50 between them and stll get abused by Jared Dudley, Acie Law, Tyson Chandler, and Anthony Morrow. The Hawks tried a new starting line-up that included Jamal Crawford at point guard. He nearly fouled out but played an efficient game with eighteen points and six assists, going 6-6 from the field. Boris Diaw thrived as an all-around player, nearly recording his fourth triple-double of the season, and he recorded his highest scoring game of the season with 24 points. Atlanta seemed almost flawless on offense in the first three quarters, but were just outplayed by the North Carolina Domination.

Acie Law went 6-7 from outside, had five steals, and dished the ball like a starting point guard. Newly signed center Darryl Watkins posted 4 points and 4 rebounds in seven minutes. Disaster struck the Atlanta Hawks in the third quarter. Tyson Chandler posterized Hawks center Al Horford, causing Horford to come down hard on his arm. He suffered a sprained elbow and a severely broken wrist. The wrist requires surgery and Horford will miss a minimum of three months, but likely the rest of the season. This is a devastating blow to the Hawks, because they are a playoff contender who will now be stuck rotating Zaza Pachulia, Patrick Ewing Jr., and Boris Diaw and the 5 spot until they acquire another center via trade or signing. Horford was having an All-Star season with 17 points and 10 boards a game with about two blocks. The loss of Horford could make or break the Atlanta Hawks this season.

ATL: 23|54|84|116| Boris Diaw: 24 points (8-13 FG%, 2-3 3P%, 6-7 FT%), 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls
NCD: 37|73|92|122| Acie Law: 22 points (8-9 FG%, 6-7 3P%, 0-0 FT%), 1 rebound, 6 assists, 5 steals, 1 block, 3 turnovers, 6 fouls

Trade Rumors

Can you believe it's already January? There are only about a half dozen games until the trade deadline on February 23rd, and we've got some trade rumors for you!

:arrow: Is Stoudemire already out of New York mentally? He might want to go back to Phoenix.

:arrow: The Lakers need to ship Ron Artest out. Portland might be an option.

:arrow: Michael Beasley wants an opportunity to start somewhere. Aren't you happy enough as a sixth man on a title-contending team?

:arrow: T-Mac wants to go to a title-contending team. So does everyone on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

:arrow: Rookie Tucker Winkler might want to leave Cleveland for the sake of his sanity. See above.

:arrow: Teams want to trade for Brandon Roy now that he's injured. Again. Roy's knees have lowered his trade value a lot.

:arrow: Charlotte wants depth behind Wallace and Jackson. Gerald Henderson doesn't cut it.

:arrow: Indiana needs a center not named Raef LaFrentz or Desagana Diop. Roy Hibbert is expect to return after 18 months of recovery in April.

:arrow: New Orleans might be shopping Emeka Okafor. We're not sure why.

:arrow: Rudy Gay demanded a trade to a place where he stands out more than he already does. Good luck with that. You stand out in Memphis. Deal with it.

:arrow: Devin Harris wants to be anywhere except for New Jersey right now. He could be traded to Orlando anytime.

:arrow: Jameer Nelson wants out of Orlando. Nelson and Dwight Howard aren't playing well together anymore and Devin Harris could take over for Nelson.

:arrow: Are Clippers shopping Baron Davis? They've got a star rookie point guard in Giles, so Davis is expendable.

:arrow: Is Kevin Love growing impatient with the Wolves? What star player wouldn't?
