Re: NCD [1-16] Contest #5 About 2011 All-Star Game

Postby puttincomputers on Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:11 am

1. Who will win the All-Star game? East
2. How many points will the West score? 176
3. How many points will the East score? 198
4. Who was the West's leading scorer? Kevin Durant
5. How many points did he score? (within 5) 50
6. Who was the East's leading scorer? Lebron James
7. How many points did he score? (within 5) 62
8. How many points did Jared Dudley score? (within 5) 24

The next few questions are about one player. This player made the most amazing quadruple-double you are ever likely to see. I'm amazed that it even happened. It's not Jared Dudley.
9. Who was it? Gilbert Arenas
Now guess his stats in the five categories. Remember he had a quadruple double, so four of the five categories have at least 10 in them.
10. Points? (within 5) 21
11. Rebounds? (within 2) 13
12. Assists? (within 2) 10
13. Blocks? (within 2) 2
14. Steals? (within 2) 10

NCD [1-16] Contest#5-All-Star Game / 3-Team Trade?

Postby rise on Mon Jan 03, 2011 6:59 am

Domination, Nets, and Cavaliers Nearly Complete With Trade

North Carolina Domination GM Zee Otoo announced that NC, New Jersey, and Cleveland are close to pulling the trigger on a seven-player trade that would send Glen Davis (78) and Malik Hariston (71) to New Jersey, Dexter Pittmann (70) and Stephen Graham (72) to Cleveland, and Serge Ibaka (74), Anthony Morrow (75) and Christian Eyenga (68) to North Carolina.

NEW JERSEY:

Glen "Big Baby" Davis, a 6'9, 300lb big man, played for the Boston Celtics and added legitimate size to the often-depleted Celtics frontcourt. He struggled in North Carolina and sometimes grew impatient with the way the team lost games. He will likely be happier in New Jersey, currently the 7th seed in the East. He adds needed depth to the Nets' frontcourt that has lost Kris Humpries to a back injury.

Malik Hairston is a swingman who will likely stay in the D-League, although he may play some games in the NBA if New Jersey suffers another injury.

CLEVELAND:

Stephen Graham will probably be an 8th, 9th, or 10th man for the Cavaliers but the Cavs need any help they can get at this point. Graham has played well this season for New Jersey and the 3-14 Cavs hopes he can keep that up.

Dexter Pittmann is a D-League force, and will probably remain that way until he can compete at an NBA level. He needs to work on his persistent foul trouble.

NORH CAROLINA:

Serge Ibaka was traded to Cleveland less than two weeks ago from Oklahoma City and clearly struggled there. In four games for the Cavs, he scored a total of six points, three blocks, and only grabbed two rebounds - a far cry from the 8/5 he was averaging off the bench with the Thunder.

Anthony Morrow, an awesome outside shooter, wanted to leave New Jersey because he wasn't getting enough chances to make shots and was never really comfortable with the Nets. He is in the top 5 3P% in the NBA, but still only averages 12 points per game as a starter. He looks to average more from off the bench in North Carolina and will form a formidable bench trio of Shannon Brown, Serge Ibaka, and himself.

Christian Eyenga will likely be demoted to the D-League or waived to make space for a bigger player to add depth to the Domination's frontcourt. Eyenga averages 10 point per game in the D-League. The Domination are considering forward James Singleton.

It's not done yet. I'm playing a couple more games with this lineup, then I'll probably pull the trigger.

And I've reversed a trade that sent Pau Gasol to Chicago for Derrick Rose. Carlos Boozer was stuck on the bench. :shake: CPU trades are stupid.

Anyone else for the contest?

I had to fix another stupid CPU swap: This time it was Emeka Okafor to Memphis for Mike Conley. :?: :?: I believe Okafor is rated above 80, Conley is rated 73. I had to reverse it. Marc Gasol was stuck on the bench in Memphis. Holy shit. I'm debating whether to get 2k11, but I think I'll probably wait a bit, because I want to finish this. I'm afraid that if I like 2k11 so much, I'll never play Live 2003 again, and I'd have to Thierry this. I'll wait on it for a while. I like where this team could be going.

EDIT: Posting All-Star game Now.

February 13- The 2011 All-Star Game: Home of the Best Individual Stat Line Ever?

Not only did LeBron James come home with the All-Star Game MVP, he put up Chamberlain-esque numbers for the East in the 195-193 overtime win against the West. He scored a ludicrous 69 points, 23 rebounds, 15 assists, 10 steals, and 3 blocks, and made the first quadruple-double in several years. James doubled the old record for most points scored with a quadruple-double, he recorded the first 20-20-10-10 game ever, and he did it all in an All-Star Game!!! James was unstoppable the whole night, and may well have put up the best stat line in NBA history. He also set career highs in points, field goals made, field goals attempted, rebounds, assists (tied old record), and steals.

LeBron was interviewed after the game, "I'm not real sure on how I did so well tonight, I've never even recorded 69 points or ten steals in a match before, let alone do it in the same match as one where I've got a triple-double. I didn't really think I was doing as well as I was, I mean, I knew did real nice, but when my coach told me at halftime that I had 28 points and 15 rebounds, along with 4 steals and 8 assists, I was like, 'Woah, are you serious?' and that's when I thought, hey, why not try to go for a quadruple-double, no one's done that in years, that's a nice challenge. My teammates, mainly Dwyane and Rajon, but everyone kept setting me up for real nice looks, I took them, sank them, and combine that with my goal of getting a big quadruple-double, everyone's going nuts after the game; they're saying "LeBron! LeBron! You might've just got the best stat line in NBA history! It was great."

LeBron James was not the only player with big stats. Jared Dudley played strong with 26 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 blocks, and 4 assists. Carlos Boozer grabbed 14 rebounds and Rajon Rondo had 15 assists. In the west, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and Jason Richardson scored 32, 30, and 26 respectively while Deron Williams racked up 19 assists. Kobe Bryant connected on all six three-point attempts and Carmelo Anthony nailed all three of his. Bryant said, "This was the greatest All-Star game ever. Hands down. I wish every All-Star game was this good. Kevin Durant, while being the West's best player, missed all five of his threes, but made up for iti with six rebounds and a career-high seven steals.

Doc Rivers, selected as the Eastern All-Star coach, said, "It was a real pleasure coaching these players, but I really didn't have to do a whole lot. Rajon knows what to do, and LeBron told the rest of the team what he wanted to do when he manned the point guard position. I was the most impressed by LeBron obviously, but I gotta give credit to Jared Dudley. He really got it going in the fourth quarter and in overtime. I thought maybe his stats took a jump because he was playing for an undeperforming team, but scoring 26 in his first All-Star game, in a match where LeBron James has a career night - that is seriously impressive."

WEST: 46 - 86 - 119 - 173 - 193 - Kevin Durant: 32 points (15-24 FG%, 0-5 3P%, 2-4 FT%), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 7* steals, 4 fouls, 4 turnovers
EAST: 44 - 92 - 129 - 173 - 195 - LeBron James: 69 points* (28*-39* FG%, 5-10 3P%, 8-11 FT%), 23* rebounds, 15* assists, 3 blocks, 10* steals, 5 fouls, 18 turnovers

In case you haven't heard yet, LeBron had a career night.
Kobe Bryant was perfect from outside.
J-Rich is in the middle of a career year and he was on fire.
KD was the West's highest scorer, with 32.
Boris Diaw has been the Bobcats' best player this season.

Nice Game from LeBron, but... he had also a career high in Turnovers 18

However the East won it congratulations to that. Maybe next year J.D. can repeat that?

:) I wasn't really going for realism here. I played 12 minute quarters for this game when I play 5-7 minutes for the other games.

I hope Jared can repeat as an All-Star his ratings will likely soar over the offseason, making it easier for him to have big games. :D

As for LeBron's 18 turnovers, look at the West's boxscores - everyone has at least a steal. That's what happens in live 2003, you make a pass and it gets picked off even if the defender is far away or facing the other direction. Also, I saw LeBron had 5 assists along with a double-double with about three minutes left, so I tried to get him a triple-double in the first half. Didn't happen- he had maybe seven or eight turnovers and only 3 assists.

puttincomputers wrote:wow i got some amazing predicting skills here! I meant to say 186 for the west. oh well.

Too late - sorry, but you did very well on the contest. I don't feel like counting up the scores right now, I'll do it tomorrow, but I think you might be the winner of this contest.

1. Who will win the All-Star game? West or East? EAST +1 to Houndy, puttincomputers
2. How many points will the West score? (within 10) 195 +1 to Radioman
3. How many points will the East score? (within 10) 193 +1 to puttincomputers
4. Who was the West's leading scorer? KEVIN DURANT +1 to puttincomputers
5. How many points did he score? (within 5) 32 nobody was even close lol
6. Who was the East's leading scorer? LEBRON JAMES +1 to puttincomputers, Houndy, Axel.

8. How many points did Jared Dudley score? (within 5) 26 +1 to puttincomputers, Radioman, Houndy
The next few questions are about one player. This player made the most amazing quadruple-double you are ever likely to see. I'm amazed that it even happened. It's not Jared Dudley.
9. Who was it? LEBRON JAMES +1 to Axel
Now guess his stats in the five categories. Remember he had a quadruple double, so four of the five categories have at least 10 in them.
10. Points? (within 5) 69 nobody got this one.
11. Rebounds? (within 2) 23 +1 to Axel, Radioman, and Houndy. All three of you got EXACTLY 23!!!!

NCD[1-16] Contest Results, Carmelo, trade?, All-Star game

Postby rise on Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:15 pm

A Couple Hold-Ups On The Blockbuster Trade

The blockbuster trade that would send Serge Ibaka and Anthony Morrow to NC in exchange for Glen Davis, has been temporarily put on hold, because the Cavaliers want a little more in the trade. The Cavaliers have asked for injured forward Kris Humphries from New Jersey or Domination center Hassan Whiteside in addition to Dexter Pittmann and Stephen Graham. On the other side, New Jersey is trying to gather the pieces needed to make a trade for Carmelo Anthony. The Denver superstar, however, has led the Nuggets to a 16-0 start before losing to the Dallas Mavericks. They have since won three straight and Anthony, very optimistically, has considered signing a new contract with the Denver Nuggets.

Anthony commented: "I am committed to getting my team a ring this year. The team has done things I didn't even think were possible this season, with our 16-0 start, even with a one-month absence of Nene and the injury to JR the kept him out of a few games early on. I'm amazed with this team and I think I probably want to stay here a while longer."

Sorry guys, haven't updated in a bit. Will likely get some stuff up tomorrow. Live 2003 doesn't have a dunk contest mode, so I'm making my own dunk contest! Stay tuned!

NBA Dunk Contest Announced

With the shortened season, the annual dunk contest was cancelled, but the day after the All-Star Game, a new one was put in place. There will be ten players who get ONE dunk each. Each dunk is rated from zero to ten by ten judges and the contestant with the highest score wins. It's that simple. Only on the day before the contest, were the contestants announced:

02  BLAKE GRIFFIN
03  JOSH SMITH
04  RUSSELL WESTBROOK
05  AMAR'E STOUDEMIRE
06  JAMES WHITE
07  LEBRON JAMES
08  BRANDAN WRIGHT
09  JEFF GREEN
10  ANDRE IGUODALA

Who do you think will win the NBA Dunk contest? According to a poll on NBA.com, 46% of fans think Blake Griffin will win it. Washington Wizard James White came second with 24%, while most of the remainder was split between Andre Iguodala, LeBron James, and J.R. Smith. Not one of the several thousand voters picked Domination forward Brandan Wright.
