Freestyle control simply allows greater control over the players which is what we want and need to make NBA Live as lifelike as possible in terms of controlling the action. Put simply, as long as Freestyle is realistic, it doesn't have any negative effective on the realism of the game.
Another thing that isn't real is the pace of the game. NBA Live is bascially an arcade game to me.

As for freestyle..I don't really like it since you can abuse it. Basically it's one of the only ways to go through defense and you can keep on going trial and error over and over again. Left C-stick, nop, don't work....Right C-stick, nop, don't work...What kind of idiotic basketball player just keeps on doing moves to try and get past their defender? It looks really foolish when a spin move fails and you try it about 3 times and finally get through the defender. When has the freestyle been realistic except for triple threat and moving on the post situations? I've never liked the idea that the only way through get through defenders is through doing spin moves.
