It's simple : CP3 needs the ball to work. Kobe needs the ball to work. In Odom we lose the only player of the bench who can basically do it all for us. In Gasol we lose a player who was actually our best player in the beginning of the season. Again, if he hadn't played so much ball these years and rested a bit - we might have given Mavs some trouble, at least. Curse you, Bynum! XD

Not knowing who the coach of the team

It's tough to adjust to a coach like Phil Jax leaving, especially since he's been around for such a long time

At the same time, fuck the NBA for fuckin our team over in so many ways. Odom won't come to the training camp, Gasol is hurt, no CP3 or D12, we been DP-ed. If u don't want the trade to happen - say it before anything actually goes down!

I do, but Lakers, if they gonna play some kind of triangle offense, completely don't need a scoring/high assisting PG. That's one of the things that made triangle offense successful. If not, then maybe, but still, we lose all our advantages - depth, size, and also, who is gonna get those assists? Kobe will get like 2 of those, other 7 will go nowhere without Pau and Odom. Drew breaks down every season, so what gonna happen if we lose Pau? Who's gonna rebound for this team? That's one thing Paul won't bring, just think about it, we gain a couple of assists, lose both POINTS and REBOUNDS in that trade, plus defensive and offensive size. That right there - recipe for disaster

What triangle offense? There is no triangle offense. "Those assists"? You realize this guy averaged 9 assists a game with Okafor/Landry, right? Now he's got the opportunity to be passing to Bryant & to run pick & roll's with Bynum, you think he'll average around 7? You don't seem to get that Chris Paul could go down as one of the best PG's to ever play the game. Ever.

You build around a guy like that. You build around a guy like Howard more, but when you've got the opportunity to land a guy like that for 2 forwards above 30, despite their awesomeness and my mad love for Odom & Gasol...you make that trade. Maybe you suck for a year or two...but that guy will lure FA's to the Lakers for years to come.

lol at Paul scoring much. He had too. Outside of David West in that Hornets team, none was capable of creating his own shot or effective at it (Ariza lol)
Paul's usage% and ast% is pretty similar to PGs that 'pass more' like Nash or Magic Johnson.
I also don't get the criticism of him needing to dominate the ball to be effective. Chris Paul has to dominate the ball with the Hornets because most of his teammates aren't that good.
It's not like Chris Paul plays like Marbury. Marbury can only play one 'mode'. Starbury is either in a scoring mode or passing mode, no in-between to take advantage of what the defense was giving him. Paul either scores or pass depending on what the defense has. Unlike Marbury too, Chris Pauls like to pass, pass, pass, and pass some more if the opportunity arises. If not then he scores.

There is the issue of who the Lakers run the offense through with Kobe and Paul in the backcourt though. Paul is the obvious choice, but Kobe's not really an off-the-ball player either. He certainly can be effective that way but he likes to have the ball in his hands, either creating for himself or settings things up for a teammate. Put them together and you've possibly got a situation where you're either taking Kobe out of his style of play or relegating Chris Paul to a Derek Fisher-type role. I'm not sure either of those scenarios work out particularly well.

Pick n rolls with Bynum? Haha, yeah, Bynum is a really good pick and LOL player XD I'm thinking about right now because i REALLY think we can still win in the next 3 years without this deal. Last year we were tired, banged-up, our 2nd best player was emotionally not there. We need upgrade at the 3 position, maybe sacrifice Bynum or Odom to get it, that would be fine by me. Chris paul deal is just asking us to give up everything we had for the last 5 SUCCESSFUL years - our size, rebounding and cohesiveness.

Plus, why no one sees it? There is PLENTY of good point guards around NBA. We don't absolutely have to go after Paul RIGHT NOW. We are rushing things, in my opinion.

Paul deal re-subbmited! Would love to see that one approved. It would make Lakers even more fun to watch. This could very well be the best guard duo in league history. I mean you have Kobe, the 2nd best SG ever and Chris Paul who could very well be in TOP 5 (in his position) when it's all said and done. Make that happen Stern!
