great to hear. hopefully you guys can get an editor out soon (Y)

I know we talked about it the past couple years, but are you guys interested in trying to make a 3D editor for 2K12?
Opinions are my own.

That depends on jorge ( jor1980) :)
He is improving greatly his knowledge about 3D files. In fact a few days ago he showed me the first stadium exported from FIFA 12.
I´m sure this year he will try it for NBA 2K.

No. Now just exporting them from NBA 2K12, by hexadecimal and using zlib to decompress files.

Do you think you could write up a quick tutorial on how to use zlib to compress/decompress the hex?

I´ll try :) I´m just exporting not importing back.
Anyway let me write something just to help to uncompress and then people would experiment by themselves :D

Awesome, cause if you are uncompressing parts, maybe we can figure out how to get last year's tools to recognize the entire uncompressed files

Well it´s simple.

You need this tool ( AFS Explorer )
http://downloads.moddingway.com/file/270.html

Run AFS Explorer and go to View menu
Select ZLIB Manager

Now in ZLIB Manager you click on Load Sections from FILE
and you load the .iff file.

You willl see something like this
Image

Now select one of the compressed parts and click on >> Extract

Ready you have uncompressed that part

Check out that you have more than one compressed part in the iff file

I'll play around with that more after I get some other stuff done, but what do you do with the .bin file?

Is it possible with this took to import textures back in?
Opinions are my own.

That´s just to uncompress the file.
The bin file you get includes headers and textures.
Find textures it´s more difficult since you have to find them according to values.

In a minutes I´ll show you an example with shoes.
I´ll take some screenshots. :D

If I´m not wrong I guess I´ve found how to decompress the NBA 2K12 file in just one step without need of AFS. If I´m right I guess we would be able to edit them with Mod Tool. Just theory now :D Anyway I´m sure that as soon as jemizhuu check this issue it won´t take him more than 20 minutes to update his tool. As far as I can see they have not changed the structure, just the compression method.
