BREAKING NEWS: Ray Allen to Retire After Season
Heat G Ray Allen has confirmed after tonight’s 109-102 victory over the Pistons that he will be retiring after the season. Allen said, “My body is giving me all the signs, it’s time to hang ‘em up” upon being asked about retiring. Allen has averaged 12.1 PPG with a .475 FG% as the Heat’s Sixth Man this season. Allen has played 18 seasons in the NBA, and this was his first with the Miami Heat. Allen won a championship in 2008 with the Boston Celtics.
Rumor: Heat Interested in Magic F Marvin Williams
With Ray Allen retiring and Rashard Lewis unlikely to stay, the Heat will be looking for depth once again in the offseason. The team is rumored to be interested in Magic F Marvin Williams, who has not decided if he will opt-in to his contract next year. The Heat would like another shooter to use in a Sixth Man role next season, and a trade for or signing of Williams should not be a surprise this offseason.
Heat Sign Jodie Meeks
The Miami Heat have signed veteran scorer Jodie Meeks in an effort to bolster scoring. The Heat have struggled to find shots against the Pistons, and they are hoping that Meeks can provide a spark off of the bench. The contract is a one-year deal worth $3.5M, effectively a contract for the playoffs.
Bosh on Trade Block?
Heat C/F Chris Bosh hasn’t exactly struggled in the playoffs, but he isn’t setting the world on fire either. Bosh has had problems hitting shots both inside and outside the paint, and he has been shooting bricks when it matters the most. The Heat may look to move Bosh if his struggles continue.
Series Highlights:
Bosh Wants to Play
Chris Bosh injured his knee in the Heat’s game 4 victory against the Atlanta Hawks, but he wants to play after seeing the team lose 108-120 to the Raptors last night. Bosh had surgery on his knee the day after the victory over the Hawks, and Erik Spoelstra doesn’t feel comfortable starting Bosh, but Spoelstra did add that he may reconsider starting Bosh if the Heat struggle again in Game 2 against the Raptors.
Post-Game 4 Press Conference Transcripts:
Reporter: Dwyane, you're in the Finals without LeBron or Bosh, which we can all agree is very impressive, and speaks well of your team. Are you guys proud of what you've accomplished this season?
Wade: Who said that we were done accomplishing things? You're acting like our season is over. We've managed to overcome some massive setbacks already, and we still have more basketball to play. So why don't you ask me that question again when the Finals are over, and I'll have an answer for you.
Reporter: No team has ever come back from being down 3-1 in the Finals. Are you saying that you think you can still win this?
Wade: Of course I do. If we win the next game, we get to go back to Miami and play in front of our home crowd, and if you don't think that the thought of winning a title in front of our home crowd for the second straight year can drive us to succeed, then I think you're insane.
Reporter: Would you like to guarantee a win in game 5?
Wade: I'm not going to guarantee anything. I'm just saying that our season isn't over yet, so I'm not going to start reflecting on it like it's time to move on to next season, and I won't be thinking about next season until the clock of whatever game we're playing, be it 5, 6, or 7, hits three zeros. Thank you all for your time.
Dwyane Wade Named Finals MVP
Dwyane Wade may not have won his first regular season MVP, but he won the one that matters. Wade averaged 37.8 Points, 6.5 Rebounds, 4.6 Assists, 3.4 Steals, and 0.8 Blocks on his way to win his third championship ring. The Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-3.
Ray Allen Retires on Top

Trade Deadline Recap:
Heat Trade: Alonzo Gee, ’15 2nd Round Pick
Kings Trade: ’15 1st Round Pick
Analysis: The Heat scored a future first rounder for a disgruntled role player. It’s safe to say that their happy with the outcome of this trade. The Kings do get the talented Gee, who could thrive if Tyreke Evans does not return next season.
Lakers Trade: Jordan Hill, Christian Eyenga
Hawks Trade: Jeff Teague, Anthony Morrow
Analysis: The Hawks wanted cap relief for the upcoming offseason, so they traded two talented players for it. Teague was likely going to move on after the season, and Morrow was going to be on the books for three more years. The Lakers won this trade in the short term, but if the Hawks tank the rest of the season and get a high pick, and have cap room to sign a quality free agent, the Hawks may be the winners in the long term.
Hornets Trade: Corey Brewer, ’14 1st round pick
Rockets Trade: Royce White
Analysis: The Hornets are having an awful season, and they want to rebuild quickly. They traded a disgruntled player and a first rounder for a promising prospect, so they may be the winners of this trade if White progresses like he should.
Rockets Trade: JaJuan Johnson
Hawks Trade: Jordan Williams
Analysis: The Hawks traded a mediocre forward for a mediocre, but promising, forward. This trade is a wash.
Cavaliers Trade: Andray Blatche, ’15 2nd round pick
Hornets Trade: Ryan Anderson
Analysis: Normally you could say that the Hornets are tanking for a high draft pick, but they traded that pick to the Rockets. No one really knows what they are doing.
BLOCKBUSTER ALERT:
Warriors Trade: Andris Biedrins, Klay Thompson
Hornets Trade: Eric Gordon
Analysis: The Warriors should be charged for Grand Theft, because they just stole Eric Gordon from the Hornets. The Hornets are apparently trying to rebuild with mediocre players and no draft picks, because that is what these trades would seem to indicate.
Heat Trade: Quincy Acy (Bucks)
Bucks Trade: ’15 1st round pick (Heat), Shabazz Napier (Hornets)
Hornets Trade: ’15 2nd round pick (Bucks)
Analysis: Quincy Acy had grown dissatisfied with the Heat, and he was going to leave via free agency if he was not traded. The Heat managed to wrangle a first round pick out of him and then have the cap space that would be taken up by Napier sent to another team. The Heat are the definite winners of this trade.

First Round - Heat v. Wizards:
Wizards Storm Back to Force OT, Heat Still Win
The Wizards had a huge fourth quarter to overcome an 89-73 deficit, but the Heat managed to stop their rally in overtime to win the game 121-117. Dwyane Wade came up with two crucial free throws in OT to give the Heat a four point lead with 1.7 seconds left to play. The Wizards will hope to tie the series at 1-1 in tomorrow’s game in Miami.

Heat Rail Wizards in the Third, go up 2-0
The Heat won Game 2 125-112 to go up 2-0 in the series against the Wizards, but the game was really over after three quarters. Up 98-72 after 3, the Heat reserves gave up 40 to the Wizards in the fourth, making the final score look closer than it really was. Dwyane Wade was spectacular, dropping 47 points in 30 minutes. The series will head to Washington for Game 3, and the Wizards are now in must-win mode.

Heat Fight Back, Win in OT
The Miami Heat faced an eleven point deficit at the half, which Dwyane Wade and LeBron James quickly erased by the middle of the third quarter. With the game deadlocked at the end of the fourth, Serge Ibaka promptly blasted the potentially game winning three out of Jordan Crawford’s hands and eight rows into the fans. LeBron James and Chris Bosh then rampaged in Overtime to win 134-128. The Heat are hoping to mop up what has been a terrible defensive series in Game 4.

First Round Recap - Eastern Conference:
Pacers Overcome 3-1 Deficit
The Indiana Pacers stormed back from a 3-1 deficit against the Bulls to win the series in 7 games. The Pacers will go up against the Miami Heat in the second round of the playoffs.
Melo Likely to Opt Out after First Round Loss
After falling in the first round to the Brooklyn Nets, it appears that Knicks F Carmelo Anthony will be opting out of his contract with the Knicks. While he is not against re-signing with the Knicks if he does opt out, he will be searching for the best contract possible. The Nets will face the winner of the Raptors-Magic series in the second round.
CP3, McAdoo, Lead Magic Past Raptors
The Orlando Magic have defeated the Toronto Raptors 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs. The Raptors must be disappointed, as they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year as a lower seed. The Magic were led past the Raptors by G Chris Paul and the surprising contributions of Rookie F James McAdoo, who averaged 20.0 PPG and 7.0 RPG against the Raptors. The Magic will face the Nets in the second round of the playoffs.
First Round Recap - Western Conference:
Spurs Sweep Warriors in Duncan’s Final Run
Spurs F/C Tim Duncan is hoping to go out in style with one last ring. If they keep rolling like they were against the Warriors, that should be easy, seeing as the Spurs won each game by an average of 11.8 points. The Spurs will play the winner of the Grizzlies-Mavericks series.
Mavs Advance Past Grizzles
The Dallas Mavericks have defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 4-2, and they will advance to play the Spurs in the second round of the playoffs. After going down in the series 0-2, the Mavericks powered past the Grizzlies to win the last 4 games.
Lawson’s Huge Game 7 Leads Nuggets Past Kobe-less Lakers
Nuggets G Ty Lawson dropped 40 points on the Lakers in L.A. to lead the Nuggets into the second round of the playoffs. The Lakers lost Kobe Bryant to a groin injury before the series, so while they were probably not expecting this series to end well for them, they should be happy that they were able to push it to 7 games without their superstar. The Nuggets will face the winner of the Thunder-Trail Blazers series in the second round of the playoffs.
Thunder Outclass Trail Blazers, Advance
Scott Brooks’ Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Trail Blazers 4-1 to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Thunder will face the Denver Nuggets in the second round.
Second Round - Heat v. Pacers:
Heat Dominate Pacers in the Paint, Go up 1-0
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Serge Ibaka destroyed the Indiana Pacers in the paint to win Game 1, 98-96. The Heat had to stop a Pacers rally late in the fourth quarter, but they held on for the win. Ibaka and LeBron had 3 blocks apiece as the Heat have begun to find their defense again after giving up 100+ points in each of the first three games against the Wizards. The series will remain in Miami for Game 2 before moving to Indiana.

Block Party Leads Heat Past Pacers
The Miami Heat used solid defense and 58% shooting to win game 2 over the Pacers, 112-101. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James each came up with crucial blocks in the fourth quarter to seal the game for the Heat. The series will move to Indiana for Game 3 as the Pacers will attempt to overcome a 2-0 deficit.

Pacers Rout Heat in Indiana
Paul George and Danny Granger led the Indiana Pacers past the Miami Heat 103-91. The Pacers were making remarkable shots, and they were able to contain Dwyane Wade in the paint by blocking 8 of his Field Goals. Al Harrington made some threes late in the third quarter, but the Heat couldn’t fight back within striking distance. The series will remain in Indiana for Game 4, where the Pacers will attempt to tie the series at 2-2.

Wade Powers Heat Past Pacers
Dwyane Wade has led the Heat to a 3-1 series lead against the Pacers. The Heat are now one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals, where they would face a talented Orlando Magic team who just swept the Brooklyn Nets. The Heat cannot write off the Pacers, however, as most of these games have been closer than the scoreboard would indicate. Game 5 will take place in Miami, where the Heat will hope to close out the series.

Heat Throttle Pacers to Advance to ECF
The Miami Heat will face the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals after defeating the Pacers 109-84. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James both came up big for the Heat, scoring a combined 63 points. The Heat may have won the series 4-1, but a lot of the games were closer than the scores indicated. The Heat must take this matchup against the Magic seriously, or else they will not be advancing to the Finals.
Series Highlights:
Conference Finals Previews:
Spurs v. Nuggets
Both teams have dominated one series and struggled in another. This should be a high scoring, heavily entertaining series with two great storylines: Tim Duncan’s wish to go out on top, and the Nuggets’ dark horse rampage through the Western Conference. The early advantage goes to the Spurs due to experience, although the Nuggets did just handle an Oklahoma City Thunder team with Finals experience in 5 games.
Prediction: Spurs in 6
Heat v. Magic
Both the Heat and the Magic have been impressive in the playoffs, each sporting an 8-1 record. The Magic have faced superior opponents to the Heat, and with the Heat’s recent defensive struggles, this should be a very high scoring series. Expect each game to come down to the fourth quarter, which unfortunately for the Magic gives the Heat a slight advantage due to experience. The Magic know they can win this series, so they will be playing with confidence. The Heat have won the last two NBA Finals, so they will also have confidence in spades. This may be the best Eastern Conference Finals matchup in a long time.
Prediction: Heat in 7
Eastern Conference Finals:
Deng Fuels Comeback as Magic Go Up 1-0
The Miami Heat choked away a ten point lead with two minutes left as the Magic won Game 1 105-104. Magic F Luol Deng came up with the tying dunk, and dished out the assist to Jameer Nelson for the game winning three. Heat G Dwyane Wade missed what would have been the game winner with 1 second left on the clock. The one good thing that the Heat can take out of this is that F Udonis Haslem had a great day off of the bench, as he is a very good matchup aginst rookie F James McAdoo. The Heat are hoping to tie the series at 1-1 before the series goes to Orlando. This series is already living up to expectations, and expect Game 2 to be another close one.
Top Performers:
D. Wade (MIA): 32 PTS, 7 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 13-25 FG, 0-2 3PT, 6-6 FT

Heat Rally Falls Short, Magic Go Up 2-0
Dwyane Wade started a fourth quarter rally, but the Magic held on to win 109-100. The Heat’s bad defense this postseason is beginning to weigh on them, as they are now down 0-2 with the series headed to Orlando. Game 3 is a must-win for them if they want any chance of winning this series.
Top Performers:
D. Wade (MIA): 39 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL, 1 BLK, 17-28 FG, 5-8 FT

Heat Blast Magic, Show Signs of Life
Dwyane Wade took over Game 3 to give the Heat some hope in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat won 108-98 in order to avoid an 0-3 deficit. James McAdoo tried to rally the Magic late in the fourth, but he could not do it on his own. The series will remain in Orlando for one more game before going back to Miami.

Big Fourth Quarter Propels Magic Past Heat
Down 64-65 after three, the Orlando Magic exploded for a 29-19 fourth quarter to take a 3-1 series lead over the defending NBA Champions, the Miami Heat. This 93-84 win was the lowest scoring game of the series, thanks to the impressive defense of Chris Paul and James McAdoo. Chris Bosh put up an impressive performance for the Heat, but his 23 points were not enough. The series travels back to Miami for Game 5, in which the Magic will hope to advance to the NBA Finals.
Top Performers:

J. McAdoo (ORL): 19 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST, 3 STL, 1 BLK, 5-12 FG, 0-1 3PT, 9-11 FT
CP3 Leads Magic to the Finals
Chris Paul dropped 33 points on the Miami Heat to lead the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals. Dwyane Wade was spectacular yet again for the Heat, but his 39 points fell short as the Heat lost 112-110 and lost their chance at a three-peat. The Magic will face either the San Antonio Spurs or the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals.

Series Highlights:
NBA Finals Preview – San Antonio Spurs v. Orlando Magic:
The Orlando Magic are red-hot going into the NBA Finals, only losing two games in their playoff run, both of which were to teams that were in the Eastern Conference Finals last year. The Spurs are a wily bunch of veterans determined to get Tim Duncan one last ring before he retires after the season. This should be a high-scoring, entertaining series, and while it may not be able to beat the Heat’s outstanding comeback last year, it will be a good series nonetheless.
Prediction: Spurs in 7
