J-Rich and Bobcats blows by Orlando in Game 1 with stellar defense
Image

It has always been said that "Defense wins championships", and Larry Brown made sure his players understood that in the Bobcat's debut Playoff game at home against the Orlando Magic, as they overcame a slow start to win by 23 at the end of the game, holding the Magic down to just 72 points, including a game low 11 points in the 4th quarter, where the Bobcats played intensive defense all over the floor until the last 2 minutes, when the starters retreated to the bench and garbage time started.
"We just wanted to come out and play strong, we know that this game is big, it's the franchise's first ever playoff game, and for a lot of the younger guys, it's their first time on a big stage, I've only been here 11 games in my whole career myself, so we just want to come out strong and play with an intensity" said Richardson after the game, he led all scorers with 25 points on 10 of 22 shooting in just 21 minutes of play. Rookie OJ Mayo led the bench players with 22 points from an incredible 9 for 10 shooting, including 4 for 5 from 3 point range.

Dwight Howard had 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks for the Magic, and held Bobcats Center Shaquille O'Neal down to just 9 points and 8 rebounds from 4 of 10 shooting, but only him, Lewis, and Nelson played well in the game, Lewis had a double-double with 16 and 11, while Nelson added in 20 points and a game high 5 steals.
"they came out focused and ready to play, you could tell, they wanted to start strong and defend their home court, our guys didn't really play with enough intensity, not as much as they did anyways, Dwight did great, as far as containing the "original superman", and Lewis, Nelson did their stuff too, we'll be fine. It's a series, we're just getting warmed up, i wouldn't worry about it" said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy after the game

The Bobcats look to take the series lead to 2-0 going to Orlando on Thursday Night, back here in the Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte.

Orlando Ties the Series at 1-1 in OT
Image
A Sellout Crowd in the Time Warner Cable Arena, Rare Sign but one that would possible continue for years to come

Jason Richardson and OJ Mayo combined for 55 points, Yuta Tabuse had 16 assists, even Jermereo Davidson had 17 points coming off the bench in just 15 minutes...but it just was not enough on Thursday night as the Magic outplayed the Bobcats in the second half to recover from 9 down at the start of the 2nd half, and with the help of Johnson's 3 pointer with 12.6 to go, defeated the Bobcats 124-121 in overtime.

Jameer Nelson tied with Jason Richardson to lead all scorers with 33 points, Dwight Howard added in 28 and 8 rebounds, while rookie Courtney Lee dropped in 22 as the Magic defeated the Bobcats on the road in Charlotte, and now goes back home to Orlando with the series tied at 1 game apiece, not a good situation for the Charlotte Bobcats.

It's not all good news for the Magic though, their 6th man, Pietrus, got in a collusion late in the 2nd quarter and did not return to play, he has been diagnosed with a sprained finger and would be unplayable for possibly the remainder of the series, or, if the Magic advance, the entire playoffs, without their bench firepower Pietrus, the starters would have to take on a larger role and would be fatigued, which would be an advantage for the Bobcats due to their superior second unit squad led by rookie OJ Mayo.

The series would continue on Apr. 26, as Game 3 would be played over at the Amway Arena, Orlando

Pietrus is out and would be out for a very, very long time...

well, we are tied at 1-1, kinda early, but i think i can get past them too, my team can shut the Magic down completely sometimes...if they play hard defense like they did in game 1 in the rest of the games, then we've got this series in the bag :D

Bobcats get it done in Orlando, goes up 3-1 to return home

Image

The Charlotte Bobcats are on the verge of winning their first ever playoff series as they come back home for game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series against Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic, after some series battles in Orlando, the Bobcats now have a comfortable 3 games to 1 advantage over the Magic, very few teams in the history of the NBA have come back from being down 3-1 to win a postseason series, but that's just what the Magic had gotten themselves into, after losing their 6th man to an unplayable injury, their starting Guard Courtney Lee went out late in the second half of game 3, and although he would return and it is a playable injury, his performances were affected in game 4, in which the Bobcats came away on top.

The Bobcats have struggled in shooting the ball from long range, going 28% from 3 point territory in game 3 and 36% in game 4, but their specular defense had kept them in the game and they have now taken control of this series.
