Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Hey Pdub, try lowering your User on-ball defence to 45. I did this and the superstar guards are playing well now.
BTW i'm getting great results having all my shooting tendencies at 50 except for 3pt shots which is at 40.
Anyways i found a way to get the superstars more involved, it's all about the tendencies of a player in the "edit player" screen. I've used nogster's team/player tendencies which i found that some superstar were not being the focal point of their own teams and increased the shooting tendencies of a Wade, Joe Johnson....by 10 in each category and i've seen a difference now, they take most of the shots now and the offence is focus around them now.
Make sure that the:
1) Shot tendency (nogster)
2) Close shots (Nogster + 10)
3) Mid-Range Shots (Nogster + 10)
4) Drive the lane (Nogster + 10)
5) Back to the Basket (Nogster + 10 if it's a big man such as Jefferson/Howard otherwise don't add anything to this category)
Shot tendency of the superstar player should be at least 80+ and all you have to do is add 10 to the 4 categories above, if you add 10 to a category which becomes equal to more than 100 then don't add anything to that category. If you follow this it will make a huge difference with the right Superstar player being more involved and dominating more. No slider settings is as effective as editing the specific player's tendency to make them more dominant than others.
Hey Pdub, could you play the Celtics and tell me who has the highest FGA? In my game, it seems that Ray Allen is always putting up more shots than Paul Pierce even though I have Paul Pierce's shot tendencies higher than Allen's.

Best game Experience I've ever since I bought this game! Wow after hrs of experimenting and testing I found a way for the CPU to play realistically and utilize their go-to guys alot more now. The secret to this is that after you have chose your team and your opponent in the Quick Play screen, you have to press the number 3 on your keyboard to show the game option, scroll down till you see the Home and Away Playbook option and it should say the team's playbook. You will have to switch your opponent's specific team playbook till you see "All Plays" it should be next to "Standard Playbook". And then start your game.
You will notice that now the CPU opponent runs a variety of plays now and that it run more plays for the go-to guy of that team.
Remember switch either the Home/Away Playbook (depending on what the CPU is) to "All Plays" and you will see good results. Also it is helpful to make sure that each team's go-to guy on offense have the highest shooting tendencies in the "edit player" screen to get the best results.
-edit- After playing an exciting game against the Sixers (CPU) as the Raptors (User), in which I lost 101-93, I'm pleased that a got good shot distributions by the Cpu's team with Brand putting up 21 FGA (24pts) and Iggy with 17 FGA (21pts) and the rest of the players in the 1-8 FGA range. This is awesome cause when i first got the game, i remembered that Brand was putting up like 20+ FGA while the rest of the team was below 10 FGA. Now Iggy is more involved which proves that the game is finally responding to my changes!

After trying everyone else' sliders and not getting the result that I wanted, I decided to make my own slider in which i reset all the sliders back to 50 (default) and made only minor tweaks to the tendencies (Thanks to Pdub for suggesting this). I also found out that if you use 360/ps3 sliders in the PC version, it won't work as they should since there's a minor programming difference with the console versions. I'm still tweaking my sliders since I found that there were too many PIP still but so far the gameplay is smooth and star players are standing out as they are getting the correct amount of FGA which I have been exploring since I got this game. Well here it is:
Attributes: User/CPU
Stealing: 30/30
Blocking: 0/0
Ball Handling: 50/50 (ties in with superstars doing sizeup moves)
Dunking Ability: 50/50
Offensive Awareness: 32/32 (forces the CPU to look for their star player more rather than shooting the open J with 2ndary players)
Defensive Awareness: 70/70
Offensive Rebounding: 43/43
Defensive Rebounding: 50/50
Clutch Factor: 10/10
Speed: 25/25
Strength: 50/50
Stamina: 46/46
Durability: 50/50
Vertical: 5/5
Quickness: 50/50
Hustle: 1/1
Hands: 50/50
On-ball Defense: 50/58 (give the CPU superstar more space which is why they attempt more FGA)
Injury Severity 50/50
Tendencies: User/CPU
Take Close shots: 50/40 (do not set the number to 0 for the CPU because it will ruin the flow of the game and players will become stagnant at times)
Take Mid-Range Shots: 50/50
Take 3pt Shots: 50/45
Attack the Basket: 50/45
Finish Strong Inside: 50/49
Look for Post Players: 50/45
Use Triple Threat: 50/50
Use Fadeaways: 50/45
Use Hookshots: 50/50
Attempt Putbacks: 50/50
Throw Flashy Passes: 0/0
Commit Fouls: 60/65
Play Passing Lanes: 50/50
Go for On-Ball Steals: 45/45
Contest Shots: 30/32
Use Sizeup Moves: 50/73 (Superstars tend to break their man down off the dribble)
Defense: User/CPU
Steal Success: 25/25
Help Defense Strength 20/20 (important for Superstar utilization)
Offense: I'm not going to mention these since this is your own preference.
Just remember, before you play a "quick game" you have to set your opponent's playbook to "All Plays" in order to experience a really good game and that the opponent's superstars have higher shot tendencies in the edit player screen than the rest of the team.
BTW I'm playing on All-star difficulty, so I don't know if the slider's effectiveness is different if you are playing on a lower/higher difficulty than what I'm playing at.
Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:08 pm
how many mins u play. can u post ur gameplay and foul settings?
Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:37 pm
@TC#10
Does this sliders help with the backdoor passes problem?
Wed Dec 03, 2008 1:50 am
I'm playing at 10mins/quarter but if you want to get realistic scores, i suggest 11mins. I'm still trying to figure out the CPU's logic whenever use the backdoor passes alot, I think it's either because of the offensive awareness is low or that it is a designed play the team uses (so you may have to decrease the Hands slider so that the cpu is unable to catch the ball in traffic when using the backdoor play). I'm still experimenting but you guys try it for yourself and see how it goes first.
My foul settings are:
Charging: 60
Blocking: 65 (there's always more blocking calls than charging calls in a real game)
Reaching: 55
Shooting: 70
Loose ball: 100
BTW the backdoor play the CPU uses alot is a bug, and hopefully the upcoming patch will address the PIP issue.
Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:49 am
Um,what is PIP?I can't figure it out...
Yeah,I presumed those passes are buged. They make me so angry that I just can't concnetrate any more so I allways lose the game...

edit:
Is PIP maybe points in paint?Well, backdoor passes are the reason for that I guess...
Wed Dec 03, 2008 3:04 am
Ya, PIP = Points in the Paint, those backdoor passes increases the # of PIP.

I wouldn't call it a bug. It was in the game in 2k8, and is more like a flaw in the AI that the cpu exploits. It really sucks because the ballhandler doesn't seem to be aware of the defender and will make the pass, which will either result in a easy shot, or a turnover, depending on the slider settings. I call it a cheap element of the AI to increase the difficulty level.

Good news Pdub, this from a poster (DereckM) who plays on the xbox360 version and just got the patch for 2k9:
"Anyway I havent seen many backdoors on pro if any, there are surely more jumpers on default now on pro. 2k cam is fixed and free throw lag is fixed. Thats all I needed. Great Job 2k."

Hello community,
Guys i really need good, realistic sliders (10min Quarter/Hall of fame), i try Blue Lighting sliders but its more arcade than simulation.
Please upload slider, i have enough with putting all of these settings into the game. THX.
Wed Dec 03, 2008 5:39 am
don't use blue lightning sliders cuz its for console not pc. there is a minor difference in gameplay between pc and console.
Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:06 am
Just to let you guys know, I'm switching from All-Star to Pro cause i find that the CPU cheats alot on All-Star with the backdoors and the amount of fastbreaks. Also it's important that you do not put the CPU offensive Awareness higher than 32, I think 32 makes the CPU uses their Superstars a lot and that if you put it lower than 32, I find that the CPU shoots the ball at the end of the shot clock more often.
Wed Dec 03, 2008 10:32 am
Yeah,I thinking of doing just that, even thou I like a chalenge, this is too much...

Ok i find out that week ago, but please guys upload some realistic sliders.
Why u guys dont choose hall of fame?
Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:13 pm
just a question. what is the difference between the speed and quikness in the attribute slider?
Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:59 pm
I believe Quickness means the effectiveness of the Turbo button. Speed is just the players speed without pressing the turbo button (walking)
Thu Dec 04, 2008 7:40 pm
Well, im feel a little ignored here. So once again, can somebody upload realistic sliders?
Thu Dec 04, 2008 7:52 pm
I would suggest you try some sliders in this thread, first. Whether they turn out to be realistic depends on how you play with them. Find some that fit your playing style.
Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:50 pm
I need some realistic sliders that cut down on made 3 pointers for PC version. It gets ridiculous at times when some of these players make 3 pointers like layups.... with the defense all over them. Any suggestions?
Fri Dec 05, 2008 3:31 am
Try lowering the "take 3pt shots" tendency slider for the cpu and the "3pt success" slider in the offense slider. Also you may want to increase the "look for postplayer" tendency slider in order for the cpu to look for post players more rather than having them jack up 3s. BTW you might want to lower the CPU Offensive Awareness to 32 so they will look more for their superstars and use more shot clock. There are a pair of sliders in this thread you might use, Pdub and I have posted a set of sliders so you might want to give them a shot. It's either on this page or on the previous page.

Thx Bro, for the heads up.

Coach profiles are saved in the rosters file.
