Ricky; ONE MAN TEAM....wannabe!

Ricky Davis is so God-damn self-minded!

He is a horrible and might be one of the worst role model players in this league in terms of being a team playerr....and he's the guy who did something STUPID to get a triple double...but read this:

The past five games, though, illustrate the Ricky Effect pretty clearly.

On Nov. 12, Cleveland followed Davis' sluggish lead to suffer a bad loss in Miami, which was the Heat's first win of the season.

Two nights later, in Boston, Davis shot 4-for-16 and proved so uninterested in ball movement that Silas had to bench him for the final four minutes of a relatively close game that the Cavaliers would end up losing by nine.

Just 24 hours later, Davis transformed himself into a selfless stopper, taking only six shots and hounding Allen Iverson all over the floor in Cleveland's 91-88 victory.

Davis then scorched the Clippers for 27 points in a comfortable home win Tuesday night before morphing back into the me-first Ricky the next night in Washington. After making his first five shots against the Wiz, Davis missed seven of his next eight attempts until Silas pulled him with three minutes left in the third quarter. Davis did not return.

So, in summary:

Besides his unquestioned standing as the Cavs' best outside shooter, Davis is a gifted passer and an effective perimeter defender when he wants to be. He can get up on people and run the break like James does. Yet when Davis does none of that, Silas looks increasingly tempted to yank him off the floor and play Kevin Ollie or Ira Newble, who will play with more discipline.

Problem is, the Cavs don't have enough talent -- and nowhere near sufficient outside shooting -- for Davis to be sitting. Ilgauskas also started the season in a shoot-every-touch mode but has gradually moved away from that, after a couple benchings of his own. Yet progress with Davis, sadly, never seems to last.

That's why, according to more than one rival general manager, Cleveland is prepared to trade Davis, fearing that he simply won't be a team guy for them no matter what Silas tries. You suspect that the Cavs would jump at the chance now to revive those old Ricky-for-Wally Szczerbiak scenarios with Friday night's visitors from Minnesota. Szczerbiak is injured and won't play, but he was a collegian in Ohio and shoots the ball worlds better than anyone on Cleveland's present roster.

And yes...Paul Silias is thinking of cutting him if he doesn't play better as a team player...(*cough* it's only a rumour/analysis i found on espn.com)

what would you rather be - the most valuable player on a shit team averaging 20.6, 4.9, 5.5, 1.58, .46, or being the second or third most valuable player averaging 15.3, 5.9, 4.9, 1.21, .57 on a team not much better?

But that's the problem. It shouldn't be about what Ricky Davis would prefer. If he's not going to play team ball, he's going to disrupt the offense. Ricky is a good enough scorer to compensate for the offense degenerating into one-on-one play, but not all of the time.

I think he would gain more respect for selfless play and a better team record than he would playing selfishly while the team posts a terrible record.

Paul Silas is not the General Manager of the Cavs, it's Jim Paxson, and he won't be cutting Ricky Davis.

Trading him, that I could see, but Wally and his monster contract and inflamed arch in his left foot, which hasn't allowed him to play at all this year, should be back soon but he is owed $63 million over the 6 years and his current $8 million is much larger than Davis' $5 million, Cleveland would have to include someone else like Mihm, Wagner or if Minnesota is foolish enough, Ira Newble. Does anyone else see a chemistry problem with Wally joining the Cavs?

Nothing better than being first in the trade union to separate fiction from fact regarding a report out of Cleveland that Ricky Davis is in the thick of a multi-team proposition involving Chicago, Toronto and Portland.

While the Blazers are as eager as anyone to renovate their roster if able to divest themselves of Bonzi Wells, Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire and Ruben Patterson, they have no interest - as we keep emphasizing to those who care about management's guidelines - in obtaining longer contracts and/or similar head cases.

Some might suggest Davis (I happen to love his talent and appreciate his eccentricities) qualifies on both scores. Nevertheless, maintains a source, the Blazers recently asked the Cavs about Davis (earning $5M with four years and $25M remaining) and wondered if he'd be available for Wells ($7M/$7.7M). Two weeks of silence later, in addition to yet another profane outburst by Wells targeted at coach Maurice Cheeks, and I think we know the answer.

Of course I may be way off again, but it's just conversation.

Here's a little more on Davis heading out, this article has a rumor that Indiana would trade Jermaine O'Neal for Z.Illgauskas, now that is a rumor that should die, never!

cut the guy some slack. i think it's pretty hard going from the #1 option on the team to being a 2nd fiddle to some overhyped high schooler. btw-davis did prove for a year he can be the go to guy yet the rookie got handed over the the go to guy status... at least in some games he's shown he can be a team player.

I think now pple relize that he is the go-to-guy on the team and thats y they critisixing him. If u look at the rest of the team they are not much better. LBJ is learnig fast yeh wants to distibute first Z is on and off, D-mile is in wa wa land so what do u expect? I watched Wolfs Clev game and there was no help from any1, no screens no nothing, no D, in the starting line up their shortest guy is 6'7 Ricky, and Wolfs had 6-5 Spree in SG while 6'2 PG, and the wolfs would just throw the ball off glass to get Off. rebound.
Again it all comes down to Time. U draft a HS who has to come in and play 40 min a game, u dont have a good PG, not good backup C, no D no help, new coach.
Time is on their side, i say keep the team and it all will go fine.
The best move last year was Mavs who didnt do any major changes and look what happend, they won 13 straght, u got to keep the team and take the critisizm for now!

Unless you're actually talking about last season, which I don't think you are since you said 'now,' no major moves?? What are you talking about? The Mavs got Antawn Jamison and Antione Walker...those are HUGE moves...

I think he meant that the Cavs should take the critism they are getting now, try their best to keep the team together, meaning, all the critisism they are getting at the moment; take it. I think he was talking about the Mavericks team of last season.

It's this old thing where Ricky Ricardo from the I Love Lucy, says in his TV Puerto Rican accent "Lucy you have some splannin' to do!" and everyone laughs cause Lucy is always creating some trouble and he I guess talks funny or something.

Apparently Stevan really likes this, and I also think it's kind of funny.

That is it, pretty silly really. :P
