NBA Live 09 will not be released for the PC

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

Even a PS2 port that's relatively bug-free would be half-decent this year, it sounds like a few features have made it into that version in one form or another including the "push" Dynasty. I'd prefer a 360 port but if the PS2 version is at all decent this year then I'd prefer that to no PC release at all.

hey i guess basketball gamers on pc will still have the chance to play basketball on their PCs afterall.. but the different thing is, it's 2K9!!! It is confirmed that it will be out on PC this october.

And another thing is that, i heard it will be a XBOX360 port..

I think this was really a bad move by EA not to release a PC version for this year. I love NBA Live, i played LIVE 97 until 07, but i have to be honest that 2K's gameplay is better.. we can all admit that, (im speaking of basketball simulation).. so that makes PC gamers try 2Ks brand of basketball, and there might be a big chance that they will stick to 2k for the succeeding version.. meaning EA will lose customers, and sales will go down..

oh well, but if we play 2k on PC, the question will be who will make the mods/patches???

Well, that's currently being discussed in the 2K Section under Video Games Central.

Patches are great. That's the reason why i switched over to the PC when I found out through this web site that you can patched the rosters and the players uniforms, equipment, etc. Those were the days when Tim Tschirner and Lutz van Hasselt where running this site. I bought a a voodoo video card for my pc and that's when I started enjoying nba live on my pc. Unfortunately, consoles like the Playstation and the Xbox gave the PC a run for it's money. I used to play NBA Live on my old Sega Genesis console and then later on I bought a PS1. The NBA Live for the PS1 usually comes out first in the Philippines but once the PC version comes out I would junk my nba live for the ps and start playing the pc version of this game.

The patches somehow made this game more interesting particularly the shoe patches, uniform patches and roster patches. The last NBA live that I played on my pc was NBA Live 2001. I was suppose to buy NBA Live 2008 last year but I read here that it had some glitches and I decided not to buy it anymore. Hopefully next year EA is able to come up with a much better version of NBA Live for the PC next year.

And of course, anyone wishing to talk about the PC version of 2K9 (or any version of 2K9 for that matter) can scroll down to our Video Games Central section and check out the NBA 2K Series subforum. :)

No and unfortunately I highly doubt that will happen even with 2K9 coming out on PC.

I didn't know that Live 09 isn't coming to PC, but to be honest I wasn't going to buy it anyway. I'm so fed it up with these bad prev-gen ports of Live that I was going to buy me a PS3, get 2K9 and be over with it once and for all. But guess what... 2K9 is out on PC, it's a 100 times as good as how good Live 09 could've been. 2K9 is going to seriously cut into my Far Cry 2, Colonization and Left 4 Dead playing time, while Live was something I only played in times where no better game was available.

What are the chances of getting a 2K9 dowload section on this site, Andrew? The first cyberfaces and jersey are coming around and it'll be quite a chore to search for them in the forum.

Everybody, support 2K9. Don't pirate it. It's actually worth your money.

We're remaining an NBA Live website but we're looking at offering some more facilities for 2K players.

That would be great. One of the few great things about NBA Live on PC was this site/community. Without it, I would've stopped playing Live a long time ago.

If I may request something, it would be convenient if the 2K forum had similar subdivisions as the Live forums do, especially to sort the general topics from the patching and the technical ones.

Andrew, which month in the year do you think would be the best date to announce NBA LIVE 2010 for PC?

Any time sounds good to me but I would assume it will probably be around the same time that the announcement that there wouldn't be a PC version was made this year.

That would be my guess. I don't know whether they'd officially announce it or whether that info would just come out in time during next year's preview "season".

This is indeed BS, i dont have a console, ive already lived with not getting 2k, ballers, street and the other fun basketball games on PC, and now there are NONE. This sucks. 09 was supposed to actually be good unlike the last 2 years. But anyone know of any PS3 or 360 Emulators or anyway to play it on PC? i Spent a lot on upgrading my PC this last year, no way i can afford a console any time soon.

derekj54, NBA 2k9 was ported from the 360 version to the PC this year. Look at the forums at the bottom of the main page.
Opinions are my own.

Hello, Andrew and others at mod team, new member here. Gotta say looking at this 10 year old time capsule, i find it quite good read. Excuse my ignorance, but how things are now with you and NBA franchises on PC, Andrew.

Long story that browsing the Forum could probably answer in more detail, but the short version is that our modding community gravitated towards NBA 2K and have been doing a great job with it for years. There are still releases for the old PC versions of NBA Live, but we're still waiting for the new games to return to the platform.
