CHICAGO - The Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors are reportedly close to a trade that would send swingman Jalen Rose to Toronto. In exchange, Chicago would acquire forward Jerome Williams, guard Alvin Williams and guard/forward Morris Peterson.
WGN radio in Chicago is reporting that the deal could also include forward Donyell Marshall going to the Raptors with Toronto center Antonio Davis going to the Bulls.

wow, didnt saw that coming. If the trade will include Antonio Davis, who will be the starting center for the Raps then? Mengke Bateer? what about Chi-town, will they give Antonio a starting job and put Tyson Chandler on the bench? I really doubt they will give him the starting Center job instead of Eddy Curry.

well, Crawford is still recovering from his neck injury. And Alvin Williams is a NBA veteran who Imo can make a bigger difference on the court then Kirk at this moment, thats just my opinion

i think this is a bad trade for the raptors. even though mopete, jyd, and williams aren't playing up to their potential, they shouldn't be traded.

no i don't wanna see Mo Pete,the two engergizing Williams and Davis go...this is a rip off...don't do this Glen Grunweld...

If Donyell Marshall is added to this trade, I think he has some qualities to play Center.

Not good for Toronto. They'll become weak at the point guard slot.

This trade works better for Chicago because their team will become more deeper.

I was told delk can't be traded until the 20th of december because he had just been acquired?????? Is this right?

I would prefer if the Bulls kept Donyell Marshall. Actually, I'd prefer if they'd keep Rose too.

Too one sided for Chicago.... hopefully Toronto won't make this traded, Jalen Rose wouldn't be able to play along Carter, Rose is too selfish.

Couple things...

Jamison and Carter are not cousins...they played together at UNC.

Jamison would go to Toronto, not Chicago - which would be the "windy city"....

Delk is suposedly a future trade, I guess Jamison for Davis isa straight up sort of thing....

I understand Dallas wanting a big man, but Antonio Davis for Antawn Jamison? This is a clear mistake, why don't they try to get Illgauskaus from Cleveland? Or Dale Davis from Portland?

Dale Davis would give you what you need and a lot less of what you do not need, if you are willing to part with Jamison so easliy, then ask Portland about Dale Davis. Antonio Davis, who has shot 32-90 .356% and gets a few more rebounds per game, but he doesn't have Zach Randolph and Rasheed Wallace around (Toronto does have J.Williams and Bosh, but not exactly the rebounders of Randolph and Wallace.) and doesn't have $37 million coming over the next three years.

They need someone who can defend and rebound, not some dude that can disrupt things from many standpoints, such as wanting shots.

Dale Davis is 6'11" and 250lbs, Antonio Davis 6'9" 230lbs, if that matters, Dale is bigger and in my opinion stronger, surely Portland would dump him for someone like Antawn Jamison.

They should shop Jamison around more, they probably have and I don't know what is going on but logically speaking, Antonio Davis is a clog compared to Jamison.

Also I believe that Antonio Davis will be in the package for Jalen Rose.
I have read at least five different versions of the trade and most likely it will end up like this:

the 4 main players are Rose, Marshall, Davis and Peterson, the wild-card is the $4,1784,421 of excess from Chicago's end, thus Jerome Williams or perhaps Lamond Murray. Alvin Williams has been deleted from the mix according to John Paxson (Bulls Gm) due to a bad ankle.

I guess it's pretty even to me, the question about Toronto not having a center is valid (trading both Jerome Williams and Davis will the Raptors with only Bosh and Marshall clearing the boards, this is bad news), but Antonio Davis' contract is massive and if could be moved out, it would be a good idea to retain Rose in it's place.

One has to think Toronto is making some other move to replace it's frontcourt. I hope so, because they can't shoot and with less rebounding...

Why Chicago or anyone else would do this for the Raptors is beyond me.

wonder what pax is thinking? it seems a little early to pull of a trade of this magnitude. given the bulls injury problems, why give up on this bunch already?

rose is in a tough situation- the coaching staff want him to defer to the young guys but they aren't producing as of yet. it doesn't help rose so far is having his worst year statistically in a bulls uni. what pisses me off more is that he plays w/no heart if his shot isn't falling. i'd much rather have a player like finley or jones who can contribute in other ways whether or not they make a shot.

as for the alleged players chicago would receive:
davis is garbage. he's kurt thomas w/o kurt thomas' numbers plus he's got that fatty contract. and this guy bad mouthed chicago a few years back when he was a FA

alvin williams: i think his game is similar to crawford's and the bulls don't need this. the bulls combo of crawford/hinrich/pip is already fine as it is unless someone like jason kidd is being offered. and this guy's off to bad start. the bulls have enough of those already

mo pete: seems like he already hit his peak (during the raptors big playoff run that one year).

jerome williams: the bulls definitely need a player like this.

bulls get some more experience and a little tougher in the post. but will the vets be happy when they see that the 3C's will get most of the PT. or maybe its the other way around since Cartwright doesn't mind putting in players like blount or trenton hassell for big stretches

as for the players the bulls allegedly would trade:
rose: i'd hate to see him go but if the team will be stuck with a malcontent that can't consistently produce (with a huge salary), then take a hike.

marshall: imo pax is a fool if he includes marshall. the bulls virtually would have no consistent scorer if both rose and marshall are gone. on a side note- the bulls had the opportunity to trade him for bosh around draft time.

raptors gain what they have been sorely lacking: offense. rose can be selfish but he can put the ball in hole, especially since he won't be drawing the opposition's best defender anymore. marshall will productive whether hes coming off the bench or staring

i don't know what makes the deal so lucrative for Pax to pull the trigger.

at least the bulls gave the lakers a run for their money at the staples center last nite

anyway i think the trades would be great for Toronto, if the second one can be made, yer that would be weak at centre and point guard, but rose can play the point.
they could go with Bateer(lol)Bosh,Jamison,Carter,Rose which isnt bad.

That could very well be the case, as they're close friends, but even if that IS the case, they wouldn't be cousins, at least not in the literal sense of the word, which Old School used...Jamison would be his cousin's husband, a cousin in-law.

As for the trade, you guys have mentioned a few things that the Bulls are having problems with: depth. This trade gives the Bulls at least 2 starters from a team that's over .500, and an energetic bench player for only 2 players that get significant minutes...E-Rob has been included in rumors, as well.

As for Jamison for Davis, yeah, the Mavs could get a better player, but Jamison doesn't really play that much for Dallas anyway...all they really use him for is a rebounder, so his scoring goes to waste. Davis CAN rebound, he just needs to have more of an inside post present or more shots going up...both of Dallas provides. Dallas could utilize him far better than Jamison, as they can justify giving A.D. a DNP, and they can't with Jamison...Fortson's been playing well, and then there's Najera, who works his ass off. There's a logjam at power forward right now, and Davis is the best player for what they need.

Delk simply isn't playing...I don't think he got many minutes at all because osf Best.

Can't you find a guy with no range on his shot who is big and can rebound for much less length or size on his contract?

I have heard the rumors about E.Robinson being included, but honestly I have to say this is media projection, they see a guy not playing as well as his large contract and assume he could be a part of a trade.

The fact is you can't trade Rose, Marshall and Robinson to the Raptors, unless the other end matches $24.1 million, which would have to include a package of A.Davis, A.Williams (who Paxson is not interested in due to injuries), J.Williams and M.Peterson which is $24.55 million. If Paxson is not going to take Alvin Williams, someone else must be included, leaving Lamond Murray. Now Toronto could send a Draft Pick to another team for a player with a $5M salary. (I suggest Chris Mills from Boston )

Hasn't Chicago or Toronto learned from this date until now, that Jalen Rose is a smelly terd in the punchbowl?

So in total Chicago will be surrending Ron Artest, Brad Miller, Jalen Rose, Ron Mercer and Donyell Marshall for Antonio Davis, Morris Peterson and Jerome Williams?

I know teams do not make the trades I think make sense, but this type of trade is moving the band apples around to amount to nothing, why not make an offer for Tracy McGrady or Kobe Bryant? McGrady might be available if you offer Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall, Eddie Robison, Jamal Crawford and Jason Williams for Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady and Shammond Williams. (I understand about Hill's contract, but this is different because Chicago unloads Jay Williams, who could be another Grant Hill thing, plus the upside is Tracy McGrady, where with Antonio Davis the upside is only Antonio Davis.)

actually the bulls main problems are finding the right combination of players as their starters, injuries, turnovers, and whether or not cartwright is the right coach for these players... not depth

it's artest, miller, mercer, ollie....or rose, best, richardson, 2nd rnd pick for those raptor players. either way the bulls got hosed. at least trading that first group made some sense since artest/miller were upcoming fa's that they did not plan on resigning, they ridded themselves of mercers contract, and it opened up time for their high schoolers.

more reason not to do the trade. i had read the raptors players the bulls may receive have high salaries that run through 07-08. the 3C's contracts will be up within the next few years. the team needs to save as much cap space as it can, having close to half the payroll tied up on average players is not a good idea.
