NBA Live 09 will not be released for the PC

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

As I said:

Andrew wrote:Pdub's already stated it emphatically but for anyone who may find similar listings of a PC version of NBA Live 09, please note that EA Sports have repeatedly confirmed that both NBA Live and Madden will not be released on the PC this year. It doesn't make any sense for them to lie about this, there's no way they'd turn away sales by statng they would not be releasing a game on a particular platform then release it anyway. If they were going to be deceptive about this, they wouldn't be giving us bad news.

You may find listings of a PC version on video game websites like IGN or 1up.com and the like. Note that these sections are usually ready made and are often abandoned rather than being taken down so they remain accessible, just to confuse everybody. Oversights happen. Note that IGN still has a section for a PC version of NBA Live 2002, a game that most certainly was not released for the PC.

Yes I remember NBA Live 2002. It was not released for the PC. But Madden did release a PC version in 2001 for Madden 2002. Well NBA Live is the ugliest NBA game for me on the console. I tried playing it on my old xbox and I didn't like it. I also bought NBA Live 2002 for the PS1. The PS1 version is better if you ask me.

My point is, there's a listing for NBA Live 2002 even though such a release doesn't exist. The listings for PC versions of NBA Live 09 and NBA 2K9 are likewise erroneous.

There are already threads for 2k9 on PC. Since 2Ksports did not announce it for the PC, it's safe to say that the gaming sites are in error, and it is not being released to PC.

That said, if it were released for the PC I think it's safe to say we'd be looking into it but any reports of NBA Live 09 or NBA 2K9 being released for the PC should be considered erroneous.

Guys i've heard that games on other consoles can be converted to pc...
maybe someone who knows how could convert the 09 ps3 version to pc?
someone said that it had been done for many games (example PES series if i'm not mistaking)....

i just looked into it and there is a program called PCSX2 which should be able to emulate a ps2 game to pc!

I guess that's something some people might want to explore since the PS2 version sounds like it might be decent but anyone looking for all the features that have been talked about so far will be out of luck.

I wonder why this is still a big issue. As the news was released AGES ago that NBA Live 09 WILL NEVER BE OFFICIALLY ON PC, people are still arguing the impossible. Lets just focus on the Next-Gen version of this game shall we?

Not really, there are still people who would probably prefer to play older games in the series and given the amount of modding we can do for those games on the PC, it's still worth our while to take part in those initiatives. We strive to be the ultimate NBA Live fansite so whatever coverage we can provide, we'll try to bring it to everyone.

On the console, sure, and there are some things that are impossible to edit or we can't get quite the results we want. There's still plenty of things we can do patch-wise for PC releases and content-wise for all platforms.

Just the thought of Dynamic DNA that I'm waiting to test it out. I guess back to Live06 for the 2008-09 season with Spree's roster (with OKCT).

So the NBA 2K9's release is now official for the PC, let's hope from EA Sports some previews from the upcoming NBA Live 2010 PC version.

I believe that will be the only way to earn casual PC sports gamers back to NBA Live from NBA 2K. They should advertise the work-in-progress PC version at once.

If they return to PC next year as indicated I think they'll making the official announcement fairly early in the proceedings, now that they'll have competition on the platform. I guess Peter Moore's blog is pretty close to official confirmation for next year as it is but I'll be more confident once/if it's reiterated with a more official announcement.

Competition is the best thing for consumers. I now can't wait to see what NBA Live will do. I'd like to see NBA Live improving while playing NBA 2K this year.

Ideally, I'd like to see EA Sports do a 180 on their plans for this year and do a 360 port to the PC that comes out a little later than the console versions but I don't think that's very likely. Simply returning to the PC with a vengeance would satisfy me greatly.

Holy great idea Andrew. I don't think it's too hard though.
BTW, you mean NBA Live 09 with this year, right?

I'm guessing it would be feasible, but highly unlikely. I'd be very surprised if they decided to do that.

If half-made and buggy NBA Live 09 port will look and play bad at this stage, it will be absolutely better than NBA Live 08 PC. There's no doubt.
At least, patchmakers here will take care of the rest.
